  • with Nissan making a comeback this year...i could possibly be watching my first bathurst since 1992.

  • @kingbrenty Absolutely!

  • @kingbrenty

as far as ive read, they are all running car of the future specs, which means they are all the same pretty much mechanically except the body, Nissan will have to come up with a push rod v8, i don't think they ever made one? If they cant come up with a engine to meet the specs my guess is they will use a chev v8. So its pretty much the exact same boring rubbish except now a Holden, ford and Nissan badge, but essentially, the same underneath.

  • i dont know why mark skaife and jim richards are called bad sports...... the crowed of whinging aussies are bad sports

  • You're a pack of assholes!!! XD

  • Given all that happened that day, I don't blame Jim for saying what he said on the podium that day

  • I was a Dick Johnson fan, but gee that Skyline was an awesome piece of art!

  • There was nothing wrong with banning the Nissan GT-R if one takes a look at NASCAR banned all non-American cars from 1954 to 2007 due to Jaguars finishing 1st, 4th, and 6th on a road course race.

  • @PorygonFanatics Until NASCAR decided to let Toyota join in on the fun. We have to respect the fact that not everyone in Australia is either a Ford or Holden fan. I often get asked that and then get stunned looks when I say "Chrysler". This move (getting Nissan back in) will open up the market to a wider audience - me included.

  • You want to see real touring car action that is close to the old Grp A rules, Head to Bathurst 12 hour next year in Feb..There will be a skyline R35 GTR in that, as well as HSV GTS and many other Production cars..Thats where the Real Bathurst race is...

  • @RM585

    pfttt.

phase III era, thats where its at.

  • @wertpollwert You got a time Machine?

  • Idiots put on bald tyres - deserved to loose - the worst outcome at bathurst ever.

  • LOL @ V8 Stupor Car fans having a sad

  • NISSAN POWER

  • Haven't watched todays so called V8 Superstars since the series went redneck.

Shit dull cars & shit drivers

  • @Zedthirtyone lol, you think its shit? try driving a V8(600hp) with rear wheel configuration before you criticize, 4 wheel drive isn't what Australia is about, its about muscle cars with rear wheel drive configurations.

  • @JnrDingo Australia isn't about 4WD/AWD? Really? We have an awful lot of unsealed roads for RWD vehicles....

  • @JnrDingo Im not going to say that aussie V8 supercars are shit but no offence it's starting to become really boring now. Dont get me wrong theyre awesome machines and great drivers but the whole ford versus holden debate is getting old now. I wouldnt mind seeing some different manufacturers just to mix up the field. If you look at all the other major countries that compete in circuit racing 9 out of 10 times theres more than just two manufacturers competing and its still WIDELY competitive.

  • @JnrDingo Point is, though, every year it gets more and more dull.

  • I was seven years old when I watched this race and I still remember it clearly and I was so disappointed in the decision to ban group A after this and turn this once inspiring racing series into the dull V8 supercars we have today.

Kinda a day the music died moment for me really.

  • what a bunch of jelaous cunts

  • This kind of video just reminds me of how sick and tired of Taxi racing I have become.

  • Dumping Grp A wasn't just a decision made in the ATCC. Germany dumped Grp A for 2.5 litre DTM, BTCC dumped Grp A for 2 litre Super Tourers, Australia dumped Grp A for 5 litre V8s, Japan dumped Grp A and introduced the JGTC. While the GTR was the car to beat in Australia and Japan that wasn't the case in Europe or Britain. In the three years the GTR won the championship in the ATCC the BTCC was won by a Sierra in 90, an M3 in 91 and a 318 in 92. The problem was Grp A as a whole, not the GTR.

  • @SchrodesTTG Japan did not dump Gr A for JGTC, they followed BTCC's example and went the Super touring route, JGTC inaugurated when Gr A was at its final season.

The GT-R never dominated Europe as it wasn't sold there, therefore nobody raced it except in Spain and Gr N

After the previous race was flattened by Godzilla, in 1991, the Germans managed to build cars that were in R32's league and they proved it at Macau, except it had unfairly excessive weight to make it competitive

  • @SchrodesTTG The GT-R was never raced in BTCC as the GT-R made its debut in 1990, the year when Gr. A in BTCC was coming to an end, therefore privateers didn't see a point racing it. BTCC switched to the all-2 litre formula in 1991, which is why the R32 was never raced.

JTCC came to an end in 1998

  • What a bunch of butthurt bogans, there poor old Tanks had nothing on the brute of the GT-R, Banning group A was the most Butthurt decision seen in racing, they are there to race not let the locals win, letting the local cars win(ford/holden) isn't racing its letting them win, if they want to win fucking design a car with some fucking technoledgy rather then banning it.

  • @InospeakAussie yeah i agree. nissan was the bomb and still is. if i was jim or mark id go in that crows and start punching peoples heads in

  • DJ Racing is a pack of assholes

  • Dick Johnson complains about getting beaten by a crashed car, Him and John Bowe weren't complaining when Bowe won I think it was Sandown a few years later while stuck in a gravel trap.

  • my r32 20det still teaches v8s lessons to this day. a 08 fpv with a personised plate "mean v8" lol smoked it like those holdens near the end of this vidio haha.

  • he said it how it was. even if they arent aussie made they should have still respected the fact that they were better than the rest

  • thats why V8 supercars cant move forward cos u hav all these bogans bagging out japanese cars, no disrespect to the commodores and falcons but you need to hav Nissans or BMWs so u can bring fans from around the world to get in on V8 supercars and make it a world class event..

  • pack of arse wholes hahahahahahahahahaha

    loving it!

  • Fuck that crowd! bunch of wankers. Good on ya Jim and Mark

  • its a shame about the reception jim and mark got for their efforts after all they are still racing in Australia in the great race i didnt here to many fans complaing about Dick Johnsons FORD COSWORTH SIERRA i think we have all missed out on an intresting race now because we dont see all the different class cars racing together like we used to but then again at least you have a 50 percent chance of picking the winner when it comes down to a brand its either holden or ford wow!!!!!

  • Here in europe only few people even know about this racing series, but you can NEVER compare a turbocharged engine with a relatively small displacement to a 5,0L N/A V8. Same with Formula 1. 1,5L V6T vs. 3,0L V8. The turbo-engines theoretically had three times the power of the good old DFV8 (practically it was "only" twice the power). Same with the touring cars, although the Nissan engine had to last 1000km, so it wasnt as powerful as it could have been.

  • that was the worst I have seen the track weather wise and the conditions were terrible. What a great way to send of the force induction lol, and good rittens, i think there should have been a GT series where the they could have raced, as they were too quick for the V8s...

  • What do you expect, of course you'll get booed. It's a rice burner in the aus racing cars and everybody there is for the v8. It was a bad move by everybody in the admin section of the race series and it was going to happen

  • Is that an AE92 FXGT Corolla in the mangled cars at 1:23

  • I wish they would bring back or support production car racing, V8 Supercars is so boring, yet most people still think they are still holdens/fords

  • @isamike They do, but no one puts there money where there mouth is and goes to support it, hence it wont make tv and hence it wont make big bucks!

  • I don't care if I wasn't there, I want 1 of those t-shirts now!

  • car # 17 sierra should of got the win..

  • hahaha "your a pack of assholes"

  • lol were mark nicholas and andy raymond commentators for ch7 at the V8'S

  • i didnt have a huge problem with the jap cars getting the win but when you win a race after you have crashed out of it seems a bit rich to me. if they were still circulating then no problem. pretty sure a similar thing happened at queensland raceway years later.

  • @baldymp3 whether he crashed or not is besides the point, he was still in fron, dick johnson had not overtaken him, is everyone blind?

so what if its the last lap right, you hit the barrier and slide through the finish line.

does that mean you arent eligible for the win and the next car that comes through wins it?

they were in front ALL day long for fucks sake, get over it.

  • @commiekazi000 no its not the same thing if you hit the barrier. if you hit the barrier and its a huge accident and causes a race stoppage should you still win the race? fuck no. if you cant even manage to be on the track when the race is called why should you win it. other people seem to be able to manage to keep it on the track in the same conditions.

  • @baldymp3

Don't think you understand the rules of motorsport, if the race is red flagged because of a bad accident or weather conditions after a certain amount of laps are completed (in this case it was both as cars were blocking the track and there was a river running down the mountain) the race won't be restarted and the results fall back on the previous completed lap before the red flag.

  • @TwistLosi nah i get all that and dont have problems with the stoppages for whatever reason and i also dont have a problem with taking the placings from the last lap unless the person who was leading last lap has crashed out of the race. if they are still on the track no prob but if they have crashed while other people manage to keep it on the track i dont think they should get the win.

this is just my opinion but i believe the car should still be on the track to be declared the winner.

  • @baldymp3 With you 100%

  • @commiekazi000 If they had have slid over the finish line as a wreck, you'll find that nobody would have an issue - they still crossed the line first and it would have been an EPIC win. The issue is that Johnson kept his car off the walls and DID cross the line, however the GTR was a tangled wreck on the straight at that point, and would have been a DNF if the race didn't finish at that exact time.

There is a saying in racing: "To finish first, first you must finish".

  • This is how Holden and Ford FORCED Aussies to buy Crapodores and Falcooons.

    By Banning the competition.

Neither wanted to spend money and build a new Group A car, so they pulled strings to destroy group A and bring in V8 pooftercars. ABSOLUTLY GARBAGE. Forcing your crappy cars on the people. Holden and Ford are S#*T. But they knew this would be the only way to sell thier crap boxes. Sounds more like Russia.

  • @izybluffen

You know, i was just looking down the side bar here and it says "Dick Johnson 1992 Tooheys Top 10 POLE WINNING lap". He got that in a Falcon right? Oh, no, it was a GROUP A FORD Sierra Cosworth. Not a piece of Jap crap.

  • @jaymzb2010 You're right. It was in a British vehicle. How un-Australian!

  • @izybluffen so how come you can race a current V8 supercar either make vs a current GT1 european car and be pulling simil times ? hmmm

    DICK .... HEADDDDDDD !!!!

  • @freedomsoldier187 similar lap times

  • @izybluffen Holden and Ford are great manafactuers and alot better than shitty mazda and nissan in my opinion

  • @motoracingchamp14 You're entitled to that opinion but I wouldn't go calling Nissan shitty. They've been doing very well in the international racing scene so far. This is the next step. In fact, I'd go as far as saying Chrysler leaves Holden and Ford for dead, in my opinion.

  • Dick Johnson was either totally ignorant of the rules or he just wanted to get the fans going.

  • Good on ya Jimmy

Rules are rules, everyone knows when the red flag drops, the race is taken back to the last completed lap, Dick should have known this, he won in similar fashion in 81 when the red flag was dropped, driving a car that was dying and Bob Morris was catching him hand over fist.

  • Jim Richards is a Legend in australian racing yeah!!

  • @TheLegendry1 Yeah its great to see a Kiwi as a legend in Australian racing

  • Bring the Corvette to ATCC. Let's see how the new GTR likes those....

  • @bacon304 HAHAHAHA. New GTR would chew up a corvette and spit it out on a track. vette's are straight line machines, 'turning' and 'cornering' are not in their vocabulary...

  • @elucid07 try typing in ZR1 vs GTR in youtube see how ya go ;)

  • @bacon304

straight line or on a track?

Because I know that the GTR put up fair competition on the nurburgring. You know, considering it's heavier, has a lower displacement, lower output... and according to factory tests (GM and Nissan), the ZR1 only beats the GTR by 0.3 seconds ;)

You'd think that given that the ZR1 puts out an additional 140bhp according to factory specifications, and that it's about 200 kilos lighter... it might perform better... Or not ;) but wait there's more...

  • @elucid07 yep both awesome :) dont forget it's 4wd vs rwd too. Thats why i think bringing in american muscle japanese technology and german precision and balance would benefit an ATCC series. Racing would be close drama would be high and tickets would sell like 2 dollar beers. (and there would be less bogans at the events......)

  • @bacon304 and no, i'm not a fan boy - but credit where credit is due. The GTR is an amazing machine, and so is the Vette.

  • @elucid07 You don't do much reading, do you?

  • @Rollinfourlitre I read plenty, novels, newspapers, textbooks, user manuals for work. What's your point?

  • @elucid07 It means you don't appear to know ANYTHING about the new corvette.

  • @Rollinfourlitre Please enlighten me, rather than being a twat then. Because that's all you're doing right now ;)

  • @elucid07 Only allowed 490 characters here, but as others have said - type zr1 vs gtr in the little search bar at the top, then check google for specs and stats on each vehicle...the GTR is a weapon, but the zr1 is slightly more so :) Also, I'd consider a 'twat' someone who mouths off without checking any facts, like "HAHAHAHA. New GTR would chew up a corvette and spit it out on a track. vette's are straight line machines, 'turning' and 'cornering' are not in their vocabulary..." Lol.

  • Technically speaking, Dick was the winner! For indeed the red flag wasnt ordered until 1.7 secs AFTER he crossed the start/finish line! But none the less, I thank you very much for uploading all the files, for its great to go down memory lane. Yep, Id rate this 5, but seeing as YouTube has changed, Ill just give you the thumbs up.Thanks. Again. RegardsJ.D.H..

  • You're a pack of arseholes!!!

  • Comment removed

  • m8 i h8 2 say it being a hard holden man but we did use the nissan rb30 in the late 80s early 90s but at the end of the day pple shuld have aqcceptd the officials descion

  • the Australians hate getting beaten by kiwis thats why they were upset. sore losers i think

  • wats skaifey saying in the background at 2:29 looks like he saying "you wanker" haha

  • I think it's more like 'no way'

  • I wonder what the new GTR would fair against the current V8's

    I wouldn't mind multi-brand racing returning

  • if they took the 100kg weight out and boost restrictor to max proby 5 seconds off or very competitive

  • It was a bit rich the Ford supporters complaining about the GTRs when they were driving overseas made, turbo charged Sierras.

  • @sg0238 Bit rich holden supporters moaning about it too, seeing as how the best commodore to that date was the VL that had a nissan engine in it.

  • The Holden supporters weren't moaning about it - it was the Ford supporters chanting "bullshit", and the Holdens certainly never raced with a Nissan engine.

  • @sg0238 SO BLOODY TRUE!

  • @sg0238 It's also a bit rich when you consider that Holden had the VL Commodore four years earlier, all of which had an engine imported from Nissan.

  • @TheBrutalLordLoki - Not sure what your point is. The Holdens never raced with the Nissan engine - it was a naturally aspirated straight six which was no good for racing.

  • @sg0238 I think you'll find they were complaining about the fact a car that was FUCKED and had just bounced off several walls and then into a shitbox and was no longer drivable somehow won against a car that was still running with no problems.

Next time your fave driver stacks his car while leading a race are you going to expect him to take the chequered flag even though other cars are still able to finish? Makes no sense!

  • @Rollinfourlitre - I can understand your frustration, but if the race is called at the last completed lap, it doesn't matter what occurs after that as the race is over - those are the rules that apply equally to everyone.

  • @sg0238 Totally agree mate, they wernt even an Aussie car. Although Dick had the fastest sierras in the world.

  • I would say that they will never bring competitve racing back.... because the new GTR would make the V8 boof boof mullet head cars look like a cheap slot car set from cunninghams warehouse.

  • people know im right so thats why they have a cry about it and tumbes down me WAH..

  • It did do that to those 304c V8 CommoWhores in the early 1990's. It's a shame that we went from the really brilliant mix of vehicles in the Group A and C era to a category of sedans which look exactly like each other and are built likewise. It's shame and a disgrace to the beloved Mt. Panorama Circuit.

  • @ceffydriver 7 ltr monaro set a quicker time round bathurst than any nissan did sorry

  • @stutzbulldog

But Did You Just Notice What You Just Said? Its A 7ltr. i Think The Engine Is A 427. Yeah Fair Enough But The 427 Is Built In Australia Or Even Built For Australian Cars. Its An American Motor Out Of A Corvette. Ok Get This. The W427 Is Worth About $155,000, Subtract The $20,000 You Can Pick Up A GTR R32 For Which Leaves You With $130,000 To Spend So After That Lets See How It Does

  • @TheAussieGamer93 what a stupid statement. From the past you can see this argument can go on forever but you are talking about two different cars from two different eras. Do some more realistic research before you post!

  • @TheAussieGamer93 You could buy an SS, drop in a 540ci crate motor, twin turbo and still have money left over instead of your shitty GTR.

  • @semtex84

    still won't go around corners

  • @Colhard Lol Damn damn right!

  • Comment removed

  • @stutzbulldog

O RLY? So it only look Holden 15+ years to match pace? Amazing haha.

  • @wildzero7777 ooooo rrrrlllyy i think cams rules had a little to do with that. If a family sedan needed a turbo maybe but it amazes me how much shit some people go on with.

  • @ceffydriver the new GTR was racing at Bathurst this year in the GT Championship series. It was about 5 seconds a lap slower than the V8's.

  • @ceffydriver Nice :)

  • From someone who was there at the time and remembers it well.

Fact: TV Channel 7 built up the Ford vs Holden return to V8s before the race

Fact: Fred Gibson said the Nissan's would not race with the extra 150kg they were given before the race, then retracted this and they still ran away from the field.

Fact: It was the first year they removed the alcohol ban, resulting in many people there being extremely drunk by the end of the race.

  • Fact: most of the crowd didn't understand the rules about a red flag.

Add these togeather, and you get a well lubricated crowd of V8 supporters reacting to a crashed Japanese turbo car being awarded the race win. Not saying it was right, but that is why it happened.

Oh, and I had no idea that Denny Hulme died until I got home, as the PA system at the circuit was pretty useless. I'd say a lot of that crowd also didn't know about Denny's passing.

  • Skyline > Holden/Ford/GM Branded Failcars

It was true then and its true now.

  • LOL, you best be joking moron... Holden and Ford are both owned by GM, an AMERICAN company... a failing company too.

    Get your facts straight.

  • skylines will kill any HSV...........nothing can touch a GTR

  • dunno why people are whinging about what's fair and unfair. It just comes down to who is the better engineer. If Nissan stands up and builds a car that is faster, then Holden and Ford should have just did the same thing, rather than bitch about having a slower car.

If the RWD V8s won, then they wouldn't have complained about AWD systems. It's just sour grapes.

  • shut the fuck up GTR is king and proven world round.

  • ppl tell me the gtr got banned because they were to fast .which might be true but how the hell can you race 2 wheel drive vs 4 wheel drive and call it fair now i no go ford and holden

  • kennymiesta they are right ya dads a jerk. Ever herd a winning team say look at the score board? The skylines burnt the HSVs and fords outright and the slack jawed yobbo Aussies (Im aussie btw) couldn't handle it. Weak as piss and still can't compete with Jap spec cars. I lothe the Holden ford rivalry. Pack of Redneck wankers

  • jump in your riceburner and fuckoff then!!

  • Fuck off bogan.

  • how about you suck my balls bitch

  • nah i am n ot gay like you uk cunts fuck up. bet my car would rape your shit box vn any day

  • your dad sucks.

  • bring back godzilla you pack of arsholes!!!

  • good on them fuk the fans!!! they won fair n square! Great days they were! hopefully more mnaufactures will join soon! or i hope the GT series overtakes the V8s

  • I clearly remember this and I never liked Richards or Skafe ever since :) mostly Richards since he looked down the TV screen and called me an arsehole :D The rainmaster himself stacking the car twice. The only shame is that this all brang about the rule changes to Supercars which ruined everything, Back to Group C was the way to go

  • i probably would have joined in with him hahaha wasnt a fan of the overseas turbo cars at the time but enjoyed the v8s back then as much as now

  • thats what jonhson thought also

i still remember it like yesterday hahaha richo calling v8 fans a pack of arseholes hahaha

  • hey retard they werent V8 fans they were fans of fords or holdens and thats why they booed. V8 formula didnt come in till 93. kids these days.

  • so are you saying there were no v8s in that race?

  • no but you said v8 fans

  • thats because there were v8 fans there v8 fans hated the turbo era

  • yeh no shit but most of the boo`s were from ford fans and yeh the rest were holden v8 fans! ford fans loved the turbo era!!

  • and yet moaned like bitches when the gtr kicked them sideways hahahahaha its got 4wd its got more power its not fair anymore it was all good when the most illegal car to ever inter touring car history was winning championships though

  • and they still borrow money hahaha government handouts and more and holden pays gm debt off still and lives on its own hahaha

  • they go back a lap and award the winner so richards was declared the winner

  • woop wrong race lol.....

  • i love holdens (not fords) but i think it were fords n holdens that were jealous.......gtrs have won like 11 years in a row

  • mate holden spent billions of dollers trying to make the prefect shitbox and so wat the piss heads on top of the mountain nissan won fair and square

  • them ppl are typical fukwits can not hack it they may have won on a technicaality but they where both were great drivers and could of one even if they did not hit the wall the nissan was way to quick and the fukwits at the top of the hill better they could not even drive half as well as mark skafie and jim richards drove that nissan with pretty much three wheels in the pissing down rain and this is cumin from someone who has raced at bathurst

  • I agree that those are the rules, but Australians being Australians they dont want to see someone winning a race out of a technicality.

  • Ahem. When races are red flagged and aren't resumed, the result is established by determining who was leading on the lap prior to the red flag. It's why Fisichella won in Brazil '03, and it's why Skaife and Richards won in '92. They're the rules.

It's a shame that the overly patriotic, and quite frankly stupid & ignorant people spoiled the end of a dramatic race, on a day that claimed the life of Denny Hulme. Richards response is pretty good, though!

  • Worldwide, huh? Why is the Pontiac GTO a Holden Monaro? Why was the Chevy Lumina a Holden Statesman? The only two Holdens sold o/s and they seemed okay to the customers...

  • even if DJ did win, he would not have done it in a car built in Australia anyway.

  • who cares if the nissan guys got given shit, they're still the champions and that all that matters!

  • even jim was fuckin suprised when he found out they won....what a pair of assholes!!

  • Typical bogans who didn't want a Jap car to win... for the second time.

Well, they have what they want now, a Holden v Ford yawnfest that does not in any way compare to the excitement of Group A Racing.

  • the gtr won like 11 years in a row

  • They were never in Group A for 11 years let alone Bathurst.

  • Yawnfest is an understatement.

  • onyadickhead34 is a fucking keyboard hero too...get fucked dickhead

  • nolzies your a fucking cock mate...how plain and simple can it get...they were robbed simple as that take it from someone who saw it

  • what a hide on dick johnson, he won bathust the same way a few years earlier when he was leading when the race was red flagged.....

  • monaroCountry your ID says it all.

It's because of rednecks like you we're now stuck with formula taxi instead of proper international class racing

  • yer may feel good winnin 3 years in a row but 7 years in a row is far far sweeter, and so much for whincup winnin the championship, u wouldnt know? haha he got no coverage, watta wanker

  • yea i reckon!

all the coverage was on skaifey

  • thx for upload btw

  • No fluke at Bathurst, unlike Phillip Island, oh winning 3 years at the mountain is far sweeter!

  • Genuinely deserved to be where you were, Craig and Jamie deserved to win Philip Island, but they didnt, and they had the fastest car.

  • Who ever wins the race, deserves it. They were the best on the day, just because you were the fastest doesn't mean you were the most deserving.

  • -Best Pit Stratgey

    -Best Team

    -Pole

    -2 Best Ford Driver

    -Leading Majority Race

-Great Call on wet's by Roland Dane

  • And, Tander and Skaife still won - simple. So they deserved it.

  • Umm, No we are talking about who deserved it, not who won it.

The best team didn't win. I even heard a couple of HSV/DT fan's say that.

  • Yes but what I am saying is the person that wins it, obviously deserves it... No matter what.

  • your a dumbcunt kornfucker

  • "Obviously you cant be beaten by a crashed car". Australian's have a fair go culture and will cheer for a team that tries their hardest and finish the race.

What people didn't like and what what non motor sport observer couldn't understand was how a DNFed Nissan GTR won the race.

  • shut up you fuckin redneck
