driving is a privilege. the government can take away that privilege. there are certain rules and guidlines that have to be followed in order to keep that privilege. if you think about it though, yes it does suck to be told what to do but sometimes enforcing a law such as wearing your seatbelt in the long run can help save lives. besides, is it really that hard to put on a seatbelt? just something to think about...

also driving without a seatbelt is far more dangerous, crashing at 70 = instant death without question if you dont wear a seatbelt, whereas its unlikely for you to die if you say, dont wear a helmet while dirt biking.

Seat belts does save lives, But it should be my decision to wear it or not....I believe it you pay and have your own medical insurance than you should be able to decide what is right for you...Just like motorcycle helmets laws in all states are strict on seat belts but some states will let you ride a motorcycle without a helmet...Go figure.

This is true but they are more likely to save u. I've been in 2 bad accidents in the past 2 years and twice I have been saved only because I was wearing my seatbelt. In both accidents the car flipped and rolled and I would have been thrown out through the windscreen and no doubt crushed by the cars in question.Please don't take that chance

I'm with you on the helmet, although wearing it should be obligated the first (most dangerous) years to get used to it. Experienced bikers can choose to do without.

Hence I disagree on the seat belt, since people become projectiles which can hurt others in a collision.

We can't stop people from committing suicide, or endangering themselves with unhealthy life styles (obese, smoke, drink, sports...). So why not allow them to decide about helmets.
