  • Igor Oistrakh plays the first part. yes :)

  • Great upload! This is great. Thanks!

  • King Oistrakh....

  • i must ask..who is playing 1st violin part?

  • @koxilas1193 It is David, playing 1st.

  • Kompozytor wirtuoz, wykonawcy rowniez.

  • Kompozytor wirtuoz, wykonawcy rowniez.

  • WOW perfect!!!

    i love oistrakh

  • pff slow..

    just kidding folks

  • LOL the faces at 6:50

  • 1:34

  • that was absolutely gorgeous

  • thanks for uploading

  • Thx for the upload, but I don't like the first sentence in your description, it's always said "THE GREAT DAVID OISTRAKH... and his son Igor" But Igor plays also in a fantastic way, possibly not as well as his father, but he is a grand master.

  • @ulduarable What? I mean ... WHAT???!!!!!!!!!

  • @ulduarable sarcastic much ;D

  • This is amazing! And the quality of the sound is quite good also, don't bother!! I have to play this caprices in an exam and this two great musicians really inspire me!!! Thanks for posting!! =)

  • Well i would say that unless they were a world class violinist then probably not!

  • Well i would say that unless they were a world class violinist then probably not!

  • wow jaw dropping speed

  • I believe David is playing the fast part. Correct me if I am wrong but David ceded the first fiolin part often to Igor. Their sound is remarkably similar. Awesome.

  • David Oistrakh...one of the best violinsts ever

  • The best violinist ever!

  • Father Oistrakh must have been so proud of his son. And...with every reason. This is beautiful music.

  • 6:52 lol

  • daaaaaaamn.

  • Increible....me dan ganas de pintar , solo me falta saber como.

  • violin power!!!!!!!!!!!

  • fantastic. there has to be something said for russian work ethic - otherwise i cant explain how father and son both reached this level. even today (although much less) we see it with soloists like repin and vengerov

  • you are out of your mind

  • @spdlight7 why so?

  • because repin an vengerov are such a bad comparison, there are so many other russians violinist at much higher level, but ok, just that is my opinion, sorry if I offended you ,O)

  • @spdlight7 no offence taken

we are all entitled to our opinion :-) i wasnt clear what you were ref to

  • i disagree, you don´t need to play like them to see who is better, if you have good ear you can still make a good judgment, i can tell my teacher is better than me because i can hear his playing. well, i just made a critique of myself being worst than my teacher and i don´t have to as good as him to make that statement.

  • i can tell that Oistrakh is better than my teacher because i can hear it, and my teacher agrees with that, well, do i have to play better than my teacher to make that statement?

  • and mr.politically correct,do music critics play better than vengerov and repin?

  • impressive !!!

  • Es perfecto...que mas se puede decir???

  • D. Oistrakh - gentleman with technique to BURN!!! Awesome.

  • this is awsome. the only recording that could match uo with it is perlman and zukerman

  • I poo in my pants every time I hear the caprice no. 4

    Great video.

  • whats the last caprice played?

  • Op. 18 No 4, No. 2, and No. 5, respectively.

  • thanks for posting..

  • This is probably the best interpretation of this piece. It's so clear and articulate... wish I could do that... Anyways, thanks!! lolz

  • Such beauty in the second piece! This is by far my favorite piece of violin music. It's even better because the ones playing it are family so you can really feel the connection between them come out in the music.

  • dang. clean like soap.

  • I think, it's the best i've heard in my life, so clear, so definite,

  • Slavic and jewish soul together ... wonderful mix!

  • Jewish? Explain that, please...

  • Oistrakh was Jewish, Wieniawski was Jewish too.

  • but in polish culture too.

  • to be honest, I really don´t think it matters, what culture you are from, some are really great musicians. I love them playing together

  • it metters for a melodious line, ex: second part, typically slavonic.

  • @Mnacuspia004 david oistrakh was jewish...

  • @Mnacuspia004 Why not? They were Jewish

  • @Mnacuspia004

David Oistrach was Jewish and his teacher, Stoliarsky ,was also Jewish.

and if you will see it a bit strange then u can find some more :Yasha Heifetz , Leopold Auer, Yehudi Menuhin, Misha Elman, Nathan Milshtein, Gidon Kremer , Joseph Joachim , Leonid Kogan ,Itzhak Perlman , Pinchas Zukerman and more...

  • this is such pure and fine violin playing, like from the book. thanks for sharing such a "diamond".

  • Great...

  • AMAZING!

  • Wow I'm speechless...

  • AMAZING! BRILLIANT! GREAT! simply beatiful...

  • 6/5

  • I actually like this much better than Perlman and Zukerman's. 5/5

  • I AGREE. WAAAAAY CLEANER! =D

  • AGREED!

  • I like the way it flows.Incredible!

  • How do I get this recording? It's amazing!

  • I just upload a video of Oistrakh and his son playing sinfonia concertante for violin and viola by mozart. Go ahead and check it, i think you may like it.

  • this caprice has a lot of classical elements

  • Incredibly clean and crisp sound! Truly amazing.

  • What are the numbers of those caprices?

  • no 4 op.18

  • Are you sure? I thought that no. 4 is only 2 last minutes..

  • When tempo slows down at about 1:30 it is caprice no.2

  • The Great Violin Stars!

  • What a charming piece of music!... around the 5:00 - 6:20 mark.

  • Meraviglioso!!!!

  • It may be shit incasmaya, but it's good shit!

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!

    Wieniawski is too kool!

  • This the way should be played- clean, not overtly fast, so every note speaks!

  • listen to itzhak and zukerman do it. it's so kool

  • Bella cacata..

  • this is a very worthfull recording.the a moll caprice is better than by perlman zukerman,is very fast and the small tones are to recognize in spite of....

  • DO NOT COMPARE. JUST LISTEN

  • Perlman from what I know is never rude...kind and always tactful in his master classes. Now, if that show called AI I have watched and wished that I had not because of the callous Simon someone's comments...

Anyway, this is gorgeous...absolutely sublime music making. The skill displayed here is at the highest and most supernal level achievable.

  • I had not heard this beautiful recording in over thirty years. It sounded great then and it still does. Thanks for posting it.

  • brilliant playing. That a father and a son could achieve such a tremendous level of playing and ensemble in the same lifetime was truly by some grace. It remains here as a wonderful gift to all musicians

  • why people have to compare performers and give their little opinion Who needs to hear some negative comments: "This one is better, go listen to that one instead.." Don't you, people, know that all players are unique and not like the other one. All of them have something for us to learn from and to enjoy without neccessary comparing I am always amazed how many people have time for talking bad on youtube instead of just be thankful, humbly listen and then quietly go and practice if they wish...

  • voices of reason, may they abound ever more frequently...

  • Much cleaner and in tune than the sloppy Perlman performance

  • Perlman is sloppy?

Wtf is wrong with you man?

  • Perlman's performance is quite sloppy compared to this one...

  • Buy a pair of ears or something equivalent.

  • It doesn´t matter what are they saying. I´m totally agree with you. I knew that some Perlman´s fan would try to be rude with you. You know, is the price of the ear.

  • The perlman version is actually quite clean. Just b/c Oistrakh is playing this piece doesnt automaticaly make Perlman's less clean

  • I think this one is better than the Perlman one, though the Perlman is a very good one also... but Perlman has just as much a right to play it as do the Oistrakhs, so stop whining about it.

  • i agree...

  • amazing. thank you.

  • Absolutely Wonderfull,

    THANK YOU VERY MUCH...!!!

    I LOVE OISTRAKH..!!!

  • who's playing the fast part?

  • David Fedorovich ofc

  • David Oistrach taught my teacher. A true inspiration to hear him play!

  • My dear friends, this is a wonderfull recording of the famous etude-caprices by Wieniawski. It Isn´t the best sound quality because i used The most primitive version of Windows Movie Maker, forgive me, in the next few weeks i will updownload the video in better quality... I think there is another caprice in this Op. i didn´t found, but i will search it for you. If someone else can help me with that... Thanks!

And let´s go. Give me a rate and some comments.

  • Really appreciated dude, thanks a lot !

  • i think the quality is fine.
