Size does matter as for the heavyweight class. But the little guy had a great shot (leg takedown) and could control the match. The skinny guy also had great upperbody takedown defense and unconventional pinning combonations. Basically the little guy used too much technique and out classed the big guy and had enough strenth to prevent from judo (heavyweight) throws which leads to quick pins.
More times than not, the taller wrestler is going to have advantage based on leverage. A shorter, stockier wrestler can generate more power moves from the feet, but once you get on the mat leverage is key.
hey guys i hate it when people do this but anyway im gonna do it. check out my profile i got a video of some of my wrestling footage if you guys could check it out and maybe give me some pointers thatd be great
True but you should keep in mind how old these fireman are....take a close look at thier faces....late 40's early 50's maybe older...all that considered they are doing alright to even be wrestling...lol
Just one more question - it is obviously a big disadvantage to be tall or have proportionately long arms and legs in wrestling isn't it? A better physique would be to be short and stocky, regardless of your weight division?
@03041976001 not at all, being tall and with long arms helps a lot, but being short and stocky also helps...
it depends on the situation, although no matter what a good wrestler relies on his technique and strength. I know a wreslter who doesnt have legs at all and he is awsome..
@03041976001 not necessarily. i'm actually the shortest in the league i wrestle in and that puts me at a disadvantage for a lot of moves. and for me ( i dont know about others) but i, myself, have to rely on technique because most of the guys i wrestle are football players. So i guess the ideal body type for any wrestler in any weight class would be to be average to slightly above average height and a lot of mucsle (depending on weight class of course)

@ilion12345 except for those niggling weight classes that they implement in collegiate wrestling. :D
