Final note: I called CBC with a news tip and was told to contact CBC Vancouver. I told her the story wasn't local and that I wanted to speak with someone at CBC Newsworld (national). She refused to transfer me, news tips are always reported locally first and then passed on to Newsworld. I repeated the story was not local. She told me I wanted to go against the system. I asked for her name. She refused to provide me with it and told me she was hanging up.

This came to mind when one of the women in the video mentioned that we must avoid a race to the bottom. Everyone should have the opportunity to contribute to a pension plan. Why not in the UK?

From Vancouver, I watched short segments on CNN and extensive coverage on BBC World (The Hub). I fear the reason our government doesn't want people knowing about your strike because it might be planning something similar and doesn't want to Canadians to see what a powerful sight 2 million angry public sector workers is.
