  • i like this video

  • I am very happy to see the vidoe after you give this A simple homemade motor

  • I Love The Video It Can Increase My Knowledge Motor basics Beakman's motor

  • Steady I Really Like This Video A simple homemade motor

  • Good, I like that you share this video A simple homemade motor, I wish success always

  • Nice Video Motor basics Beakman's motor That You Share , So Very Nice Thanks You

  • I Really Like The Video From Your Motor basics - Beakman's motor

  • Your Video Is Very Useful Sharing A simple homemade motor

  • Hey Danky How Do you Make One Could You Make A Tutorial :)

  • f***ing smart

  • I want the sound

  • what is the materials?

  • tut?

  • wow that is really nice the wires are of copper ............... arent they

  • lets say i have a little toy car and i want to use this to power it, is that possible and if so how hard would it be ?

  • how can you make this motor faster without actually adding anything to it, and does it matter how far away the battery is placed. I need to do this for a physics project

  • @thecobra9999

Yes it is really matter sir :)

  • hey would you make a tutorial on how you bend the wire like that to make it work? please reply

  • Thumbs up if you are watching this in 2011!

  • omg

  • Its kinda like a speaker, You have a magnet, A voice coil (a coil made out of copper) and when u add power (an amp) it makes the speaker move. Except a speaker creates sound.

  • this was a science projext in the 10th grade... but we were the last ckass to so it so all the batteries were dead... but me being so clever.... plug this thing into an 110v ac socket... needless to say... mine performed flawlessly, better than anyones, and even came with a fireworks show...

  • is this how chevy makes motors?

  • for anybody who doesn't understand how an electric-magnetic motors works, when current flows through the coil, a magnetic field is produced that goes clockwise in the current direction (right hand rule). the current formed field wants to align itself with the magnetic field of the magnet, creating torque. The torque is dependent upon the magnet strength and distance as well the lengh of the wire and current going though (a loose translation of Biot's Savart law)

  • @cybhunter007 LH rule

  • Beakman's motor helped me ace my physics class in high school.

  • I say gear that motor down bigtime and use it for anything you want!

  • i remember doing this in school in like 5th grade its very cool.

  • I've heard this kind of motor has low torque... is there any way to get more torque?

  • @TheReasonWhyGuy you can increase torque making more spires in the wire, putting a stronger or more magnets, or use gears to make slower but stronger.

  • @danky78 I was thinking about the gear idea...

Does the watts/amps/volts have any effect beyond a minimum value needed?

So having a big ass strong magnet and using gears could give it good torque?

Is there any issue of overheating by this motor?

  • @danky78 how to do this experiment

  • @danky78 you mean faster to make it stronger?

becouse it needs more momentum to get more strenght

  • where can you find neodimium magnets

  • @Infinityking87 check kjmagnetics on Google, they have efficient, strong magnets there, i bought a lot from them in the past for good prices

  • i bet you 1000 views you cant hook that exact engine to a car battery. JK about the views. but seriously. no car battery.

  • :-) Great!

  • how did you make it my friend?

  • Hi! Hey, I´m really impressed about this simple principle for a motor! And Next month I have a science fair on my school. Would you tell me what do I need to do this? Thankyou!

  • beakman as in beakman's world?

  • @thevanillabeanteam The one and only. I actually remember this episode. When I was a kid it blew my mind that a motor could be made so simply.

  • is this from beakman's world?

  • How did you do it?

  • um wtf? y did i even watch this?!?

  • very nice

also very practical with that magnets as switch :)

  • How many volts do battery have?

  • @MsHaloOola That is a rechargeable 1.2 volts battery. It works with any battery but take care if you use a bigger one (4.5 or 9 volts) because you can burn the copper wire if you short circuit it.

  • Thankyou for posting this danky78! I think your motor is awesome and your video was just what I was looking for because I want to build one of these. Thanks again!

  • What kind of magnet and what kind of copper will work? Cause I tried to replicate the same idea and got nothing. Zilch. Is there something besides just coiling the copper and placing magnets underneath the copper wire to make it spin?

  • @Freethinker9110 The end of the black coil is cut only a half, that side makes the coil to turn in one direction. The other half would make the coil to turn in opposite direction so it still have plastic.

  • Whats the wire coil like, I can't see it very well. What gauge is it and is it unsulated?

  • @Dirtboy101 Its insulated only a half with the plastic of the wire.

  • @Dirtboy101 Is insulated only a half with the plastic of the wire.

  • cool

    now build a brushless motor

i will send you a video

  • @Pascal666ful you wanna see a squirrel cage motor or a VVVF motor?

  • what can you use this motor for?

  • to enhance your ego

  • @ohcaptainmycaptain4 Only for fun ;)

  • @ohcaptainmycaptain4 You could like make a bed for an ant on that spinny thing and put some ants on there.

  • @ohcaptainmycaptain4 Maybe he need it as school project :)

  • actually this is how motor in rc cars work the they have one of this inside that makes its spin

  • @ohcaptainmycaptain4 You could make a small car?

  • @ohcaptainmycaptain4 FOR FUCKEN TIME TRAVEL, what do you think. dumass?

  • description whould explain how u do this! 1 star to video!!!

  • it's very simple but really cool!

  • Hey Danky,do you realy need a neodimium magnet?please reply.

  • @ntco390 Maybe it works with a different magnet, but it would lose so much power.

  • @ntco390

Who cares? Neodymium magnets are awesome.

  • @ntco390 Yes, you need a strong magnet, neodimium magnets are the strongest ones.

  • @ntco390 I did this project when I was a kid, without a neodymium magnet, and it worked fine. It would probably spin faster with a neodymium magnet, though. You need a fairly strong magnet, but the exact type isn't important. I used a speaker magnet when I did it.

  • Muy lindo! Gracias , desde argentina.

  • come on!!! no explanation,no nothing...how am I gonna figure this out 4 myself

  • Yes, its a normal cable.

But there are one trick for make the motor spin. The ends of the black wires have half side cut up for touch the copper cable and make a closed circuit, then the coil gets magnetized in and makes a complete turn for touch the copper again.

  • thank you for your answer

but I'm asking you about the coil in the middle and the wires around it

are it normal cables or what???

  • what is the meaning of magnet wires which are necessary to make the simple motor????

  • The only magnet needed is the one under the black wires. Its hard to see because the black tape.

The small magnets at the end of the yellow cables are only for easy touch with the battery.

  • Pretty clever.
