dude this is really awesome. i am a highschool student and i want to design game environments but im not so good at drawing but i did take an art class but we did not really focus so much on environments as i hoped. Any tips for an Amateur or where i should go to look for ideas on how to learn preferably nature such as trees ;]
Really looks fantastic! Im a game design student and concept art is probably my favourite part, although I specialise in characters, do you have any tips or good places to look if I were to teach myself environment creation?
Hi. Tnx for your kind words. The best place to look for training dvds is the traditional drawing section at the Gnomon Workshop ,-)) Just google it and you'll find links...
Hi NisusCGA: why I could tell.. Its just my guess.. when I see your foresight on scene or how you envision it.. i just felt the deeper art in it :). maybe because I'm an Architect also. I'll be looking forward for your future post. Cheers!
hi! great sketch and visualization.. i do sketches too but only with single pen : ).After seeing your video, I'm inspired to try marker shading as well. great job again!. by the way, are you an Architect?
Tnx for your comments. I do most of my sketches line-based, not in values (like markers). These animations are my first good tries. It's hard to get a feel for the tones imho, so that's why I'm still learning this technique...
Haha, lol... nope... Just several markers: A 10% and 30% marker, and a small/fine black pen... More recently I use also a fine, medium and brush black pen... saves some time...
Hay Nisus, I love to draw but im am kinda new to it. Do you know any site I can go to or anything I can do to help myself. Pretty much any advice would help. Thanks
Although I must confess I hardly got the time to sketch a lot I manage to fill a little sketchbook every month. Once you get used to using every bit of 'in-between' time for some scribblings, it'll pay off soon. Just got too make it a habbit to sketch everywhere: while you wait for a coffee or for a train, during the afternoon break.
A sketch doesn't have to take more than 5-10 minutes, frequent practise is necessary though. It's a lot better than sketching several hours once A month ,-)
I hope to be able to post more vids like this during the Xmas break ,-))

That first one reminds me of a Vermeer landscape somewhere, very inspiring to see the process hehe

I see. Artists have a trained eye. Architects are all about perspective. So I guess that's how you spotted... Great! ,-)

Hi Onzki,
Tnx for your comments. I do most of my sketches line-based, not in values (like markers). These animations are my first good tries. It's hard to get a feel for the tones imho, so that's why I'm still learning this technique...
And yeah, I'm an architect... How could you tell?

Wow... You're like a magician...
I've stopped drawing for a while because I leaked inspiration.
But because of your video you gave me back inspiration to draw again.
Thanks a million!
ps hope to see more videos from you

I'm really glad you got back to drawing again because of my video.
Drawing is fun, but giving inspiration to others is just marvellous ,-))
