Hey Great Review. I was just wondering if anyone can help me, iv got all the specs needed bar one im not sure of. I have a full hd led 32" tv that runs at 100Hz. Will the 3D work at 100Hz
Why are they showing us a view of the monitor thru the glasses, with the camera pointed at the monitor, seems kinda stupid, do you think that will allow us to see the effects back at home on our non 3d read monitors without the glasses? lol idiots
For all of you owners out there, the new Nvidia driver released earlier this week now includes 3d vision drivers and programs as part of it. I'm quite chuffed with that since I upgraded my driver today and now don't need to install when they come tomorrow =). Hope it's good
there is one thing that really pisses me off about modern shutter glasses tech. its been around since the early 90s and the late 80s yet a set of shutter glasses has gone up in price in the last 10 years. i used to have a pair of msi 3d shutter glasses that worked with nvidia tech that i got in 03 and they only cost me 40 or so bucks (plus shipping). they worked with any display capable of 100hz or more. the fact is the pricing is retarded. and the tech is quite old. (continued....)
@kght222 the first pair of shutter glasses i messed with were nuview back in 1995. those glasses themselves were actualy compatible with the system i got in 03, the tech is simple. its just a solid lcd that can turn black or clear. i would love to get the modern version but the glasses are way overpriced. and of cource i need an lcd with a much higher refresh than the one i have (that part is all my fault if anyone's). but if you have a monitor with 120hz or better the 3d with shutter (Continued
@kght222 glasses is amazing. and i can understand that they aren't 40 bucks for the glasses, they are wireless after all. but 200 bucks is stupid. the wireless version of the nuview glasses was 200 bucks, but the wireless version of my msi glasses (they were from another company) were only about 120. and the fact is that ati should jump into the game as it were, because this tech isn't card dependent. its hardware dependent. and an ati card can just as easily output at the needed refresh rate.
@kght222 when i say its not card dependent but hardware dependent i mean that you should only need a good screen and a set of glasses with adapter. the video "card" shouldn't matter.
@kght222 Actually as far as i know ATI has not released any type of drivers for 3d vision although there is some homebrew stuff but its not quite up to par with what nvidia is doing.
@xxslayer66xx if you read through my messages you would notice that i made note of ati "jumping into the game" as in they should. i am aware of that, and its fucking stupid, the copyright for shutter glass tech ran out a long LONG time ago (5 years or so, maybe more) its software to interface that is lacking. if you have shutter glasses (the hardware) you should be able to use them on anything. even old shutter glasses can manage 80hz per eye.
There is another adapter that connects between your monitor and Nvidia VGA out and used the XP driver to activate it, 3rd party took over at a price tag..Thanx NVIDIA for droping support...hmmm, wouldn't have to do with the new expensive price tag would it? Don't forget the adapter that connects to the DVD player and TV which allows you to watch 3D DVD movies like Night of the Living Dead, even the new version is wireless. NVIDIA and Microsoft, ripoff others tech and reap the profits.
Set the record Straight, I used the WIRED version in 2000. It came with nvidia graphics cards and nvidia wrote the drivers. The stoped with XP and started the new system with Vista. They worked on 60 raster monitors and above. LCD tech at the time would not allow a good image until they started using 120hz 60 for each eye. NVidia repackaged old tech and selling at a higher price because it's wireless and updated. Remember this also came out in 1986 with the Sega Master System.
I just learned yet another fact about nVidia 3D Vision: It is designed so that it only works with a digital video connection if the display is licensed by nVidia, and nVidia requires those displays to have Digital Restrictions Management (DRM) that intentionally prevents them from working with 3D systems other than nVidia's.
This is outrageous. Don't get nVidia 3D Vision. Get a Zalman Trimon monitor instead. Or maybe ATI's system.
I don't recommend getting nVidia 3D Vision, because there is a huge limitation of it: It is a closed proprietary system. That means that apart from 3D hardware accelerated applications that are rendered by nVidia's drivers, it will only work with software that is licensed to work with it.
nVidia 3D Vision lacks support for full-screen interleaving -- which is supported by other systems and would allow for compatibility with any 3D-capable software.
That being said, I'd recommend seeing it for yourself to make sure you can see 3d. I've had friends tell me that they can't see the 3d effect or that they just get headaches.
I'm really surprised more people haven't adopted 3d vision. It doesn't make sense if you only play a few PC games that aren't supported in 3d, but if you play a lot of PC games, it's worth the investment. I never expected it to be as good as it was when I tried it. I've never really seen great 3d before(not even in theaters), and I assumed it was just a gimmick, but nvidia pulled it off really well. I hope ATI roles out their own 3d technology soon to drive prices down.
I have a huge 72 inch. plasma screen TV that my parents gave me for my 18th birthday [thnx mom and dad] and will wearing these glasses work on playing my PS3? I mean since u can play it on PC, I'm pretty sure u can also play it on game consoles am I right?....=\
@Leechaxxs 3d is just awesome awesome and dont forget to have bka 300 buttkicker at amazon.com. that thing is amazing!!! best money i spent since george foreman grill !!!!! read all the buyer review and nobody dislike that!!! too bad lot of people never heard about it!!!!! 3d with bka 300 buttkicker equals 4d!!!!!
How noticable is the 3d though? I went to see a movie in 3d and some parts were more 3d than others but does it make gaming a BIG difference or just barely for 3d?
@billbobd12 I don't think so. Check NVIDIA's website, they have a list of all the monitors that work with the technology. It's a pretty short list. Next time you get a new monitor, though....
@loadsofire Really? I haven't gotten sick of my 3d vision kit. In fact, I'm spoiled by it and don't play pc games without it on anymore. It's staggering how much visual information your brain is missing on a normal 2d screen. No one even realizes it until they use a good 3d solution. I didn't either until I bought 3d Vision.
It doesn't give you twice the resolution on each eye.
The way the system works is, the screen alternates between the left and right eyes' images faster than the eyes can percieve, and whenever the screen is displaying one of the eyes' images, the transmitter sends a wireless signal to the glasses telling them to clear that eye's shutter but blank the other eye's shutter.
@barichm0 No it does not I laughed a little at that. The game does have to render twice once for each eye and maybe that's what he was talking about. Also ANY and I repeat any CRT works with 3D Vision. No need to go buy a costly LCD. If you have an LCD it must be able to do 120Hz refresh rate but I have not tested this myself. I use a 22" CRT and play many games in 3D @ 2048x1536@85Hz. Thank you Nvidia.
@Thamsite From the top of my head, I don't know the answer to that question, but I am sure by doing a quick google search, you should be able to find out pretty quickly. Since they are from different companies, compatibility cannot be guaranteed.
Was wondering if it can work on my alienware M15X without the special monitor i only have about 200bucks and i dont think i will have money to buy a new monitor
@darnops It's probably a better idea to wait a while until investing in a new monitor. With all the new 3D TVs hitting the market, it will be only a matter of time before the prices drop down. Alternatively, you could also look for a used monitor if you can't wait.
@getconnectedtvshow I really do not man to be rude here but are you under the impression that by him saying he " has a Alienware M15x " you think he means a monitor correct? It seems that you need to " Get Connected " and find out exatly what a m15x is!
@getconnectedtvshow I really do not mean to be rude here but are you under the impression that by him saying he " has a Alienware M15x " you think he means a monitor correct? It seems that you need to " Get Connected " and find out exatly what a m15x is!
@dhkenny2001 the 3D monitor is rather Xpensive i use the money and bought a ps3 instead and the rest is for the 3Ds of course i dont have money to buy the 3D monitor.
@darnops Unfortunately you will need a 120hz monitor or TV. They are few and far between. The chances of you finding a second hand one are slim to none considering people are fighting to get their hands on one. It is quite expensive to get a half decent setup. You will a 400 series GPU £200 (Can be done with an 8800), a 120 hz monitor £200 and the glases £120.
@yorgaraz i just ordered a 3d vision kit and a new computer with 480 gtx card. subscribe to me if you want, i will do a review on the 3d vision and the computer after i receive them.
@Santaslave666: nope, I've been using 3d vision for the last couple weeks. Since the 3d depth and convergance is completely adjustable, you can set it to a completely comfortable level. Plus, there is zero flickering. I havn't had a single headache, and played for hours.
You need the 3D Vision kit, Nvidia graphics card (It is recommended 9800 or higher), and a 3D capable monitor.
Make sure your computer specs meet the requirements and preferably exceed them. Otherwise you'll be playing in 3D at about 15 FPS and no one wants that lol....
You need a FAST CPU as well as a fast GPU and enough RAM of course... Keep that in mind before you spend money on the kit and can't even run it optimally.
@svlion1977 - If you are trying to find out if a monitor you already have is 3d capable then I would suggest looking in the owner manual of the monitor if you still have it. Or you could also try going to the manufacturers website and looking it up. I doubt your monitor is 3d capable unless it is a Viewsonic or Samsung. Those 2 brands have a monitor out which is 3d capable. In the specifications it will say that it is 3d capable and should also have a sticker on it that says 3d vision ready.
what i know, you at least have to have a graphics card with a nvidia chipset, you can check on nvidia website if you can run the 3d vision thing( it takes ifo of your pc) and shows what to be replaced :)
@smokie545 ye and no i say ati have a patch or mod for it lol and -its nvidia way to get u to buy there well worth it cards- Buy gtx 460 is less then 200 and its great
if you could link a 600hz plasma to me i would be extreamly supprised, considering acouple of months ago 120hz was only just invented 600 shouldn't exsist....
i stand corrected, i recently just bought at 600hz refresh rate tv, you need 100hz to get rid of the worst of motion blur, also for nvidia get a DLP tv, but good luck anyway, and nividia requires 120hz so ye there is a point.
well.. the monitor always displays 120 fps or 60 fps, no matter how fast the graphic card is. the monitor just displays several images more than once if the graphic card is slow.
Um. Modern Wafare 2 is not Call Of Duty 4. Call Of Duty 4 is Modern Warfare 1 you dumbfuck. How can MW2 be CoD6 if its not an actual "CoD" installment and CoD 5 didn't come out yet? Fuckin' A!
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2[10] (also referred to as simply Modern Warfare 2 or Call of Duty 6[11]) is a first-person shooter video game developed by etc. - Wikipedia .
Nowhere there does it say Call Of Duty 4 : MW2. There is no Call Of Duty 6 on the title and an actual Call Of Duty 5 is not released yet but is in production. It is taken place in Vietnam. Fuck Wikipedia they don't have proper information anyway.
@The0887609309 Im sorry to inform you that Call Of Duty 5 is due to be released next year. Call Of Duty 6 is not out yet. Whoever told you otherwise lied.
Excuse me but World At War is not Call Of Duty 5, check the cover. Same with Modern Warfare 2. Technically Modern Warfare 2 isn't even CoD if you have the prestiged edition ;) Case Closed.
Guys... you can play this on a $10 100Hz or better CRT monitor... it even states that on the Nvidia website. The 120 Hz LCD's are nice... but they're the true waste of money at the moment since they'll become standard in another year or two and drop like a rock in price when fifty others get added to the market.
My question is the 3D going to looking like the movies in amusement parks where the stuff pop out the screen or is like the cheap 3D movies like Spy Kids.
In amusement parks and most 3D-capable cinemas, one uses polarized glasses (Google this). They are perhaps the most effective method of creating the illusion of 3D.
The type of 3D imagery shown here is generated using shutter glasses and a high refresh rate display which alternates between left and right eyes on every other frame. These will provide the same effect as polarized glasses, however the image is significantly darker.
cheap 3d movies. it doesn't come out of the screen, like that ride at universal studios, florida. i think that was the terminator ride, that was in 3d. haven't been in like 15 years though, it might not even be there anymore.
that's silly, first of all the monitor you need to buy, is resonably priced, and so are the glasses I think. and it's not like your going to be using them for a week, you'll be using them for years to come, so take the price and divided amongst all the time you will spend using these, they are well worth the money. I don't have the glasses or monitor, but I have the GPU to support it, and it let's you have a taste of what 3D is like, by letting you use Red & Blue glasses, it's amazing!
I know red & blue glasses make it looks like shit, but it shows you the 3D part very well, and then you just imagine the 3D in perfect color, and it's really breathtaking, it's like you are there, you are immersed by 10 fold. Not even joking, it's a revolution in gaming.
these are amazing, i recommened to everyone 10/10! very intensive.. should try horrors and FPS's on it.. amazing.. you will get temporary shellshock...i'm serious :)
imax are more like the trimon ones by zalman, this uses a whole new technology. the zalman and imax theaters both use polarization, this uses shutter glasses. but yea looks similar, this looks better though
In particular adding head tilt to the Nvidia drivers would allow people to lean their head to the side without confusing their brain... as in the separation not matching their head position..
So for now don't lean you head to the side with any current 3d glasses including Imax.. you could get an odd or sick feeling that could give you a false impression of the glasses.. 4 now keep that posture up.

Santaslave666 1 year ago
@Santaslave666: nope, I've been using 3d vision for the last couple weeks. Since the 3d depth and convergance is completely adjustable, you can set it to a completely comfortable level. Plus, there is zero flickering. I havn't had a single headache, and played for hours.
AcidBong 1 year ago
That sounds pretty nice, and all PC games are compatible with the 3D vision?

Check out nVidia's Requirments. The minimum is GeForce 8800.
Also, you need a 120 Hz monitor.

7rak3r 2 years ago
how do you know if your monitor is 3D capable??
svlion1977 1 year ago
@svlion1977 - If you are trying to find out if a monitor you already have is 3d capable then I would suggest looking in the owner manual of the monitor if you still have it. Or you could also try going to the manufacturers website and looking it up. I doubt your monitor is 3d capable unless it is a Viewsonic or Samsung. Those 2 brands have a monitor out which is 3d capable. In the specifications it will say that it is 3d capable and should also have a sticker on it that says 3d vision ready.
7rak3r 1 year ago
need to have over 100hz... there only a few 120 hz TFTs but they have a sticker on it that say "3D Vision ready"
if you have a CRT-monitor you only need over 100hz...

what i know, you at least have to have a graphics card with a nvidia chipset, you can check on nvidia website if you can run the 3d vision thing( it takes ifo of your pc) and shows what to be replaced :)

OT: There is no point in getting those 80+ Hz tvs anyway, human eye cant see the difference after 60 fps (60hz)
Orangetree991 2 years ago
i stand corrected, i recently just bought at 600hz refresh rate tv, you need 100hz to get rid of the worst of motion blur, also for nvidia get a DLP tv, but good luck anyway, and nividia requires 120hz so ye there is a point.
ziddestroyer 2 years ago
thats true. but 60/2 = 30 fps
3d vision displays 2 different images. first the one for the left eye, then the one for the right one.
that means you would just have 30 fps..
DasAntiNaziBroetchen 2 years ago
but if you need a 120hz monitor, would it be 120/2 = 60fps? thats if your vid card is powerful enough.
asdfxyz1 2 years ago
exactly.
well.. the monitor always displays 120 fps or 60 fps, no matter how fast the graphic card is. the monitor just displays several images more than once if the graphic card is slow.
do you understand what i mean?
DasAntiNaziBroetchen 2 years ago
it it is 3D ready yes

RomanianUser 2 years ago
I don't think they are going to make a cod 6.... I think CoD 5 will be the last numbered cod game.
PhantomGamerz 2 years ago
dude, cod6 is call of duty 4 modern warfare 2 .
RomanianUser 2 years ago
Um. Modern Wafare 2 is not Call Of Duty 4. Call Of Duty 4 is Modern Warfare 1 you dumbfuck. How can MW2 be CoD6 if its not an actual "CoD" installment and CoD 5 didn't come out yet? Fuckin' A!
PhantomGamerz 2 years ago
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2[10] (also referred to as simply Modern Warfare 2 or Call of Duty 6[11]) is a first-person shooter video game developed by etc. - Wikipedia .
RomanianUser 2 years ago
Nowhere there does it say Call Of Duty 4 : MW2. There is no Call Of Duty 6 on the title and an actual Call Of Duty 5 is not released yet but is in production. It is taken place in Vietnam. Fuck Wikipedia they don't have proper information anyway.
PhantomGamerz 2 years ago
K. lets just say Modern warfare 2 isn't call of duty 6. But call of duty 5??? That's fucking World at war !
RomanianUser 2 years ago
Eh? How do you figure? Call Of Duty 5 isn't out yet. There is no 5 in World At War. Also its not the 5th game in the series. Where do you get 5 from?
PhantomGamerz 2 years ago
it's like need for speed. Since nfs 5 there were no more numbers for it . Shift , i think , is like 12 . This applies to call of duty as well .
RomanianUser 2 years ago
If I understand you correctly you are admitting that World At War is actually Call Of Duty 8. Cool!

$150 - New graphics card
$400 - New 120Hz Moniter
$200 - The glasses themselves.
Thats about $750 for people who don't have anything thats required to run this setup. A little over priced for a 3D effect in my opinion.
herobutface1 2 years ago 5
Actually for the; " NVIDIA 3D Vision Bundle - Samsung Syncmaster 2233RZ 22" 120Hz LCD + NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision Glasses "
its only £379.47. Your right about the graphics card though.

herobutface1 2 years ago
Works exactly like your eyes do in RL the screen is double vision but the glasses only see 1 vision in each eye so it looks proper 3D.
phoebeanner 2 years ago
Guys... you can play this on a $10 100Hz or better CRT monitor... it even states that on the Nvidia website. The 120 Hz LCD's are nice... but they're the true waste of money at the moment since they'll become standard in another year or two and drop like a rock in price when fifty others get added to the market.
Bracketman2 2 years ago 2
Almost for got is the 3D red and blue or is it Polorized
CHRnCRS13 2 years ago
My question is the 3D going to looking like the movies in amusement parks where the stuff pop out the screen or is like the cheap 3D movies like Spy Kids.
CHRnCRS13 2 years ago
In amusement parks and most 3D-capable cinemas, one uses polarized glasses (Google this). They are perhaps the most effective method of creating the illusion of 3D.
The type of 3D imagery shown here is generated using shutter glasses and a high refresh rate display which alternates between left and right eyes on every other frame. These will provide the same effect as polarized glasses, however the image is significantly darker.
troy2062 2 years ago
cheap 3d movies. it doesn't come out of the screen, like that ride at universal studios, florida. i think that was the terminator ride, that was in 3d. haven't been in like 15 years though, it might not even be there anymore.

It looks amazing but its just not worth the price
jim82828 2 years ago 3
that's silly, first of all the monitor you need to buy, is resonably priced, and so are the glasses I think. and it's not like your going to be using them for a week, you'll be using them for years to come, so take the price and divided amongst all the time you will spend using these, they are well worth the money. I don't have the glasses or monitor, but I have the GPU to support it, and it let's you have a taste of what 3D is like, by letting you use Red & Blue glasses, it's amazing!
1981z28camaro 2 years ago
I know red & blue glasses make it looks like shit, but it shows you the 3D part very well, and then you just imagine the 3D in perfect color, and it's really breathtaking, it's like you are there, you are immersed by 10 fold. Not even joking, it's a revolution in gaming.
1981z28camaro 2 years ago
these are amazing, i recommened to everyone 10/10! very intensive.. should try horrors and FPS's on it.. amazing.. you will get temporary shellshock...i'm serious :)

Stereoscopic 3D head tracking with the Wii Remote
In particular adding head tilt to the Nvidia drivers would allow people to lean their head to the side without confusing their brain... as in the separation not matching their head position..
So for now don't lean you head to the side with any current 3d glasses including Imax.. you could get an odd or sick feeling that could give you a false impression of the glasses.. 4 now keep that posture up.

No the glasses are nvidia only. They require a 8800 or higher. I must say if you dont have them, buy them.
IONZagan 2 years ago
the drivers are made by Nvidia for Nvidia cards... They are special 3D Nvidia graphics drivers..
You can't buy an Nvidia graphics card and go to the ATI site to download drivers can you?
Simply put you need an Nvidia card as it requires a 3D video card driver.
better curse out ATI for not making drives..
