  • Took mine to the dump because there was mold growing in it. But i do remmember the analog sound be so much mellower than digital sounds

  • What kind of car is that in the background

  • what kind of car is that in the background

  • what kind of car is that in the background?

  • Wow! You really have that thing cranked! From what I can tell it has great sound!

  • Hey 78Revolutions, is this solid state or tube?

  • @schepler2 Solid state. Very 70's...plastic wood etc.

  • Can you tell me the length, width and height of this stereo?

  • That sounds great. Hang onto it, if you can.

  • Why Would Anybody Put this on the curb? They must have a screw Loose, or very very STUPID! They were A Bunch of ASSHOLES!!

  • Thats a great looking console! It's too bad we can't make things this nice today.. I've got a turntable from the mid 80's made by J.C Penny. It worked very well, but now can't keep up it's speed.. I hate to consider tossing it, but i might have too. I have a modern Audio Techinca turntable, but it looks too modern. Consoles like these were just beautiful!

  • That was so depressing to watch this. The music on the radio, the records you played, and the console itself just made me feel so sad like nobody cares about anything anymore. It's a time gone by. And that poor little Zenith isn't special either cause now everything's HD surround sound & IPODs. You should make it feel better by replacing the speaker cloth, polishing it up and putting in your house instead of on that cold garage cement floor. I'm so depressed now and need to take a Vicodin.

  • @ShitFromShinolla Im not sure what to say? I cant save them all, Ya know? If this was my only player, Id probably have done those things by now. But with two consoles already in the house that are much neater, older (tube), and nicer (57 zenith and 56 philco), This one simply loses the battle of indoors. I considered taking it to work but Id rather put a vintage piece there too. This needs some tweaking to be 'right', But the foundation is there. Its better off on my garage floor than the

  • @78Revolutions dumpster where it was headed when my friend gave it to me. If anyone ever called and wanted to come get it, save it, I would offer it for free. Until then< I will hold on to it. no dumpster for this old girl.

  • @78Revolutions Awe... what you said made me cry "no dumpster for this old girl". Well now then that makes me feel a lot better. The way you were talking about her in this video makes us think that you don't like her because she has fake drawers and loose speaker grill cloth. I'm glad now that you cleared that one up. You should look at her with a proud smile of ur face & ask her if she wants some cookies & milk before she goes to bed tonight? Well now I won't take another Vicodin.

  • @ShitFromShinolla Oh, Sorry....I didnt mean to imply I didnt like it! Especially for free. But the faux-drawer plastic-wood and solid-state era of it makes it less desirable that my others. These consoles take up space, and in a house with a dozen record players, two of which are consoles.....Well, Lets just say the wife would kill me! If I could only get rid of the kids' beds....Id have room.

  • @78Revolutions Just get rid of the wife and kids and you'll have more room for the old girl.

  • @ShitFromShinolla Done and Done!

  • did you get the 8 track from the maggie done I would love to see it as I have the same one and it is a fantastic 8 track

  • @force311999 No, It was a mess. There was nothing in the unit worth saving, as far as functionality, except MAYBE the 8-track. But once removed, It proved to be way too much of a project to make usable vs just buying a cheap $25 working unit. I did keep the changer for parts, but the rest went away....which is why I removed the vid. But someone else on youtube saved the vid and re-uploaded it for some reason.

  • wonderful just great . looks mid 60's to me . my parents had a early 1960's zenith , something about them everything sounds better , i have a few in my house no more room for anymore but i love them , thank you

  • Unfortunately i was many miles away from you, if not, i might go for it. =(

  • I have almost this same console; mine is a few years older, with a Micromatic turntable! Mine uses 2 6x9 woofers. These consoles really kick A**!!

    Joe

  • @kirbykallen I saw one with a micromatic at an antique mall for $50 in December. Looked new, all paperwork. Just gorgeous. But Ive already got three consoles.....I just dont have room for another!

  • @78Revolutions I know what you mean, I have 4 consoles, myself, lol

  • That thing has great possibilities!! The Turntable is BEAUTIFUL!!!!

  • Neato. Old players are such fun.

  • @RCALennon Agreed. The fun of the first time you turn it on, and find out what does and doesnt work. Too cool.

  • I remember this one very well. I remember you sent me photos of the speaker magnets and they were date 1972 and 1973. Looks to be from that era too. Definitely needs a lube job! But overall a very cool and good-sound stereo. An 8-track deck would go perfect with it!

  • @Vinylrecordsneverdie Yup! Thats the one. Good memory! There is (or WAS) at a local antique mall a larger console, Freakin MINT, of a similar era, And it had the player and 8-track. I wanted it so bad, and it was $65 I think...which means I could probably get it for $50. But I just know I have nowhere to put it. :(

  • @78Revolutions Around January I same Zenith console from the same era with an 8-track. I think it was an Allegro series. It had a VM type changer, but different than the one in yours. It was selling for $20, but had no way to get it home and don't have the space either.

  • forgot to say, that changer just needs to be cleaned and lubed and it should be ok.

did you try that already?thats ususally the problem on these.good luck!

  • good catch, glad you saved another piece of history from the trash

  • Nice Piece! The auto mechanism probably is a bit gunked up from non use. I love how the top only opens 3/4 of the way so there is room for a lamp or 50's ashtray!

The amps on these old console units have good sound! OMG strawberry alarm clock! LOL nice!

  • @vinylelvis1 Yup......Just alot of sittin. if it ever ends up in full use again, Ill go through it all. Right now, Its a rarely used item in the garage....though last year when I got about 1000 records for free, I was sorting them in the garage and used this quite a bit!
