I'm trying an experiment where I help others as much as can be done without a major loss to my own well-being, for instance I will give the homeless money but not everything I own - perhaps enough that my ability to drink is diminished, but it's a worthy sacrifice for humanity. I will help up all who fall, and pick up the pieces they drop. In turn I expect no benefit but that this spirity of universal brotherhood will replicate.
