i completely disagree with his philosophy. i believe the PROCESS is the epitome of the event, and the painting itself is a byproduct, an after-effect ,if you will. but i love his work.
As if the departed artist cares what anyone thinks of his art now! All that matters is the art itself. However, as much as I am glad the work is on display, I have to admit I get antsy when they start analyzing it. People do need to be educated about art, but as an artist myself, I am always uncomfortable when they start pulling it apart.
composition with pouring II: Color dominante el verde.
it's simply the sad, pathetic jealous and frustrated, wishing they could be recognized or whatever they've done. it's terribly typical and usually pretentious or egotistic. do whatever you do. art is what you believe it to be. the real artists don't really give a shit what you think anyways.
no artist, no one is complete, everyone misses something. I am a painter and even if I were the best painter in the world I would not say I do not miss something. There is always room for improvement.
I would much rather know what he drank, and his shoe size, and height.
What you are showing me is his work. I believe you said initially, that the house was left so it could show his life and not as a museum of his work.
So many people do this. They believe they can know or inculcate something by association.
I would rather drink a beer with him, and have that be that, if I even cared to meet him at all.
and that is a moot point. so why don't you show me his shoes?

You should see some of Pollock's
paintings that are in the museums of
Texas. They obviously are not a gimmick.
I used to think Pollock was a poseur
myself.

why does everyone artist bash?
In the words of alexander pope
"Whoever thinks a faultless Piece to see,
Thinks what ne'er was, nor is, nor e'er shall be.
In ev'ry Work regard the Writer's End,
Since none can compass more than they Intend;
And if the Means be just, the Conduct true,
Applause, in spite of trivial Faults, is due."

all drunken drip painters must die.
one just cant go on forever failing miserably.
it was a gimmick. it was a formula. some of them look beautiful but they are meaningless smears... purely DECORATIVE with no content.

So let's see your content dude. Put up or shut up.

yea, just like crack-addicts into cubism, or LSD surrealists. It's all a miserable failure because myopic people like us just hate everything.
pythonflying 3 years ago
thx, although they do look beautiful for wall paper, i feel like Pollock is missing something.
You hit the nail.
Decorative with no content, and it does seem like a gimmick too.

Cowardly to screen comments.

Apotheosis? Initial screen printing has little similarity to poured works. Crayon on screen methinks.
