  • I was only 6 years old when this series was originally broadcast. I can remember laughing at the 'tittie bum bum' part of the theme tune at the time! It still amuses me now...!

  • This is epic. I loved this entire eco-system of characters back in the 80s when I got to watch them, first Budgie and then this on C4, I think.

The way Charlie goes from being a feared Kingpin to just another player is fantastic. It works so well.

  • fabulous stuff, the Glasgow i grew up in! Superb!

  • Finally the sequel to Budgie is available to watch. Absolutely over the moon that Scottish Television has done this....I haven't seen these shows since they were originally broadcast. Thanks, and keep them available. Fantastic television, and Cuthbertson is brilliant.

  • Thanks so much for putting this up. I looked a couple of years ago and found a couple of short clips but this is another level. Looks like you have originals. The quality is top notch. I thought this was lost.

A tootsy bumbaronee, a tootsy bum bummmm.....

  • Fantastic, love the 70's look (cars buildings etc) how about some retro ad's during the break.

  • When Did STV start broadcasting this show? also it seems it only gotten one more episode in before the Strike happened?

  • @623058 The show began broadcasting in 1979. The first two episodes were broadcast before the strike, then the entire series was run in 1980 several months after the strike was over.

  • @STVDramas thanks for the reply, its a shame second run was not made!

  • @623058 Exactly how we feel! It truly is a classic that could have run for several years and, it seems, a victim of circumstance. We'll be unleashing more episodes soon, plus some added content, including more interviews with the director David Andrews, who discusses the effects of the strike.

We'll also be adding some more stories to the site linked in the description box under the video. We were lucky enough to interview Tony Osoba, who plays Hamish! That's coming soon to stv.tv!

  • Superb to see this great series again, keep up the good work
