I am looking to adopt a sulcata, rather than buy one... It seems that there are a lot of orphaned tortoises out there. I was wondering if you know of any rescues close to the south Louisiana town of Lafayette? I have been researching these torts for a while, and would love to give one a good sound habitat ( and a big lawn to "mow") thanks :)
i have a baby salcata how do i prevent mal nutrition i have repticalcium and a cultibone i soak it once a week i feed it a variety of greens and i use a coil bulb and basking bulb in day and night blue bulb at night do have any other suggestions so she stays healthy
@perfectinsanity26 Glad you are doing your research and wanting to give your new baby a good life! Actually too much nutrition is a problem for sulcatas- they are grazers in nature and feed on low nutrient grass all day- so lots of hay and grass is best- go to the Sulcata-Station site for the best care tips
Man, Quiggly acted just SO distraught about Rambo's valiant mission to get under the shelf! That was hilarious. It was like he was blown out of his mind over it.
I wish people had not refused to read the video description and realize these critters were rescues, which common sense would have them deduce that the critters probably did not come here in the best of health, before assuming it was because of your fault. Thank you for providing all these animals a sanctuary.
He's got some work to do in that direction. I think it has to do with ancient calculations of the sun, moon and stars. : ) I love your tribe of beings
@MarineTuck Rambo is a RESCUE his pyramiding has gone way down since he came here- it will take a long time for good nutrition to undo the damage over feeding had caused
@shadowsheik8611 Very True- Rambo is a rescue here at Critter Camp- we are working on reversing the effects of years of inappropriate diet, but it does take time-
@soniczoom2000 Fennec foxes are bred in capivity as pets- have been for decades, thats not to say they are a 'good' pet for most people tho- but none of the fennec foxes you find as pets are wild caught, just fyi
@tjnstudio Yes this is how he came in to our rescue- with some severe malnutrition- we have only had him a few months and are working on getting him much healthier-
@EXEcosmoman20 I know! I think its like dig, eat, dig, eat, sleep, bask, eat more... :) but sometimes when he is out cruising around he looks like he is jsut checking things out :)
@Jimfoxyboy no- that was one of the dogs :) fennecs rarely bark only when they are upset or scared or angy- i have only heard one bark when an unfamiliar dog was visiting us
@CritterCampMom The day before you posted the video, Abu was barking at me. I had been walking back and forth cleaning things up in the kitchen with my work shoes on. I guess the sounds of my shoes on the hardwood floor and kittens at the front of his cage was enough to set him off a few times. And ya, he's rarely barked. Your dog almost sounded the same way.
@thespoiledpets Rambo only weighs a few pounds right now- he will get to be aout 200 lbs! he is only a few years old- the fox is a fennec fox- they are bred as pets- very unusual and expensive ( about $1500) - not potty trainable, very skittish and not cuddlers
Feed it less protine and a lot more calcium

Pyramiding = BAD!
Poor tortoise, terrible nutrition lead to that.

It seems that your turtle is lacking calcium as to why his shell is pyramiding.
