For real, the book had so much depth to it, and touched on many disturbing topics. It was finally "un-Banned" from public schools in my sophomore year :) I like how both adaptations don't preach nor bias on said topics & concepts, but instead treats them with the respect and dignity that they deserve. It didn't sugarcoat/romanticize the horrors and uncertainties and facts of life, and yet, made out life to be just as precious and worthwhile.

I have never seen another vampire film so beautifully done. I'm up to the fifth book in the Chronicles and the characters leave me mesmerized. What I love about Anne Rice is that her books aren't just about vampires and blood. They teach you something because her vampires are, in a twisted way, still somewhat human. They face similar emotions, but more magnified because they're immortal. Love, loss, pain, abandonment... you walk away having learned something. Stephanie Meyer doesn't have a clue.
This movie is the best film for the TRUE fans of Vampires. Finally a movie that is about REAL vampires, not no Twilight. I'm so tired of people claiming to love them when they are only into it, cuz it's cool now. This is a story about vampire's that are true Bad Asses. @Dank951 There is a part 2. It's horrid. But its a sequel. They made the movie called "Queen of the damned" which is a mixture of The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the damned.
@GrendelBoglin Yeah I've seen the horrid and mutilated film, Queen of the Damned...It was an adaptation failure. Anne tried to stop the studio from making the movie but Warner Bros posessed her rights to her novels and had the right to make that movie. Thankfully Robert Downey Jr is helping Anne Rice negotiate with studios to reboot the Vampire Chronicles for films--he is also up for the role of Lestat. Which will be hard because he's 50 something years old.
Interview with the Vampire tops any Vampire film made...Except Dracula. I'm sorry but the Twilight saga glorifies Vampire's...they're not meant to be glorified because in the Vampire Chronicles they all hate being evil regardless of their emotional ties with the little humanity they have left.
With all this Twilightmania, I must say it's laughable that some people think that Twilight stuff can compare to the example of true cinema art which "Interview with the vampire" definitely is. This film covered absolutely everything on the subject, and in such a deep, philosophical and high-quality level that there is absolutely nothing to add to it.
One of my favourite movies, of all time.OF ALL TIIMEE!! I love vampires, Anne Rice's vampires! And the casting is so damn fine. Pardon my english, I am latina. :)

It's not hard to compliment a movie without insulting another.... This movie is good, creepy, cute, sadistic, and has an element of longing... I like it among other things... reguadless of the length its amazing... all 3 hours of it

I have never seen another vampire film so beautifully done. I'm up to the fifth book in the Chronicles and the characters leave me mesmerized. What I love about Anne Rice is that her books aren't just about vampires and blood. They teach you something because her vampires are, in a twisted way, still somewhat human. They face similar emotions, but more magnified because they're immortal. Love, loss, pain, abandonment... you walk away having learned something. Stephanie Meyer doesn't have a clue.

This movie is the best film for the TRUE fans of Vampires. Finally a movie that is about REAL vampires, not no Twilight. I'm so tired of people claiming to love them when they are only into it, cuz it's cool now. This is a story about vampire's that are true Bad Asses. They have murduring bloodbaths, & they are afraid to be who they TRULEY ARE. Last I checked Vamps were sexy not fairies! So if you want a real Vamp story put down the Twilight & check out Anne Rice's "The Vampire Chronicals."

@dancer101202303 Well, it can be scary at times. It has corpse scenes. BUT....MUCH better than the Twilight crap. As people have said, Twilight is an insult to these movies. Of course vampire stuff is suppose to be scaryish. I would highly recommend watching it. I couldn't even finish the Twilight books/movies they were so bad. But I love the Anne Rice movies and want to start reading the books.

@GrendelBoglin Yeah I've seen the horrid and mutilated film, Queen of the Damned...It was an adaptation failure. Anne tried to stop the studio from making the movie but Warner Bros posessed her rights to her novels and had the right to make that movie. Thankfully Robert Downey Jr is helping Anne Rice negotiate with studios to reboot the Vampire Chronicles for films--he is also up for the role of Lestat. Which will be hard because he's 50 something years old.

Interview with the Vampire tops any Vampire film made...Except Dracula. I'm sorry but the Twilight saga glorifies Vampire's...they're not meant to be glorified because in the Vampire Chronicles they all hate being evil regardless of their emotional ties with the little humanity they have left.

With all this Twilightmania, I must say it's laughable that some people think that Twilight stuff can compare to the example of true cinema art which "Interview with the vampire" definitely is. This film covered absolutely everything on the subject, and in such a deep, philosophical and high-quality level that there is absolutely nothing to add to it.

I acctually just saw IWTV because I wanted to know about what I'm writing. Both or better the three of them (Darcula, IWTV, Twilight) ARE really good stories. Though I have to say that the twilight books are much better than the movie. (Robert Pattison does not fit the role of Edward) I like both movies a lot and have to say that there are many simiarities from IWTV to Twilight. But still they are two different stories, with a different meaning...

I love this book and movie so much!!Anne Rice was so freaking talented. Such a classic! Honestly I loved Tom as Lestat, Brad as Louie...but most of all Kirsten Dunst, who was born to play Claudia.
Don't worry people, Twilight will be forgotten once the movies are all out! IWTV is still being remembered as one of the BEST BOOKS on Vampires! SUCK ON THAT TWILIGHT LOVERS!
