The first thing I sold on eBay was actually a "drop ship" companies item. A in dash 7" dvd player for a car. I sold it quick for a good profit, but when I went to drop ship it they were out of stock. So I had to call them and do all that crap, in the end had to give a refund. Never, ever, ever go with drop shippers, EVER!! lol :)
I have lots of junk even the original Nintendo, it still works with a dozen games or so. I kept it because it was a childhood memory. I have an xbox , that I tried ounce and put it back in the box. So many things barely used gifts mostly. Taking up space in my basement. I don't really need the money, but you seem to get a thrill from turning a profit. I might try it, seems addictive though.
I sold an original Van Halen brass necklace five years ago. Sold it to someone in Denmark for $135.00 when I posted the initial bid at ten bucks. Total score.
Its funny you made a vid asking this. I was going to post you a comment to tell you about my first FleaBay sell. An Original Led Zeppelin Print, backed on particle board that was never framed from the early 70's. I found it used as a crappy wall board in my shop, before I dry-walled it. The top right corner had a chunk ut of if. It went off at $19.75 with 27 bids!
The first item I ever sold on eBay was a book called The Water of Life: A Tale of the Grateful Dead by Alan Trist with illustrations by Jim Carpenter. That was way back in 2003.
The first item I sold was a tennis racquet. Since then I have sold a few of them. Have sold close to 20 items and made a couple hundred bucks. Love your videos
My first thing was a bottle of colloidal silver and it was a BUZZ then i sold more.. then ebay told me to stop it under FDA rules and big pharma bullshit, its a proven health solution for gods sake.anyway i had to comment on this vid ive seen it a bagillion times and i love your storys etc.,,and your absolutely gorgeous.steve from the Katie Patton fan club uk. lol
One of the first things I sold was a painting. I sold it for something like $150.00. BUT STUPID ME...........I never checked the price of shipping, which turned out to be $80.00!
first thing i sold was a linksys router for 25bucks, not bad...first thing i ever bought was a single TooL ticket for almost 140, i think....thats back when their shows would sell out within minutes, but it was definitely worth it!
In 2004 I sold my super nintendo with boxed games like secret of mana and final fantasy 3 for over $300. I had no idea they were so valuable and that was my first eye opening experience to what I could sell.
haha i was 15 just out of high school, needed some spending money,so i bought a old commodore 64 for 3 bucks and posted that biatch on ebay and watched it go from 3.99 to 25 bucks i was so freaking happy lol
I used to sell guitars, them I sold greek statues imported from greece no less, and now I sell trains. I sold part of my Dad's collection and now I travel the US buying collections and selling them online and on ebay.
The first thing we sold was in January 1999 - a 2-volume Wright Brothers boxed book set. This was in the days before photos (and also on VERY slow dial-up). It was just one of those things - I saw eBay and said, "Wow! THIS I like! I can do this!"
So, I picked the book set off of the shelf, and listed it. It sold for $50 and that was the beginning! Hooked ever since then!

I don't remember what my first item was that I sold, as I have been on eBay off and on since 1999, but my first internet was WebTV....remember that? Couldn't do pictures. Been hooked ever since. I'm very close to 1000 positive feedbacks.....I just hate how people don't bother to leave feedback, evenwhen you email them.
i got a glass fish from the second hand store for $2 and put it jokingly on ebay as an, "Art Deco Glass statue" i told them it was so ugly that it might just be art deco. it sold for $15 to a very happy customer.
Dvds, Ebay use to be a lot better for sellers. I've sold on & off there for many years & it seems everytime they make a change it gets worse & worse for sellers. From a message they sent on there, it looks like they're going to start charging %age on shipping now too. I'm really getting to be not a fan of ebay. But I do have about 15 listins up.
A Friend sold a purse for me on eBay and then she showed me the ropes. I don't even remember the first item (it was in 2001) I sold myself. Probably another purse.
My first item was a pair of shoes (used). I stressed more on getting good feedback then making money :) The item that really got me hooked though was a pair of sunglasses i sold for 595.00!! They came out of a storage unit I bought for less than that!!
I had a couple Bare Escentuals makeup kits that I bought and I didn't want all the pieces. The first thing I ever sold was one of the compacts that came with a kit. I think I started it at $.99 and it sold for around $17. I was SO excited!! That was about 4 years ago.
It was way back in 1996. I had a coin with Babe Ruth on it. I forget what it sold for, but I mailed it off in a regular envelope. The envelope arrived but the coin did not. I've sold thousands of items on Ebay since and never lost anything else. Will
I cant remember the First item cause I listed like 10 my first time I do rememver what they were Nintendo NES games from my collection that I didnt need been selling ever since.
My first item was a redskin football helmet i listed for $10 and when i got a bid i was like OMG! and then i got a bid on it for $10.50 and i was like OMG!!!!!! haha
Baseball cards in the 90's. No pictures for the listing. Most listings back when Ebay first started did not have pictures. People paid me using money orders. PayPal was new and not required.
It was 1999 and my item was a roll of 144 Harley Davidson/Miller Genuine Draft stickers that I got free. I had been thinking about ebay for awhile and finally just did it. I think I got like $15.00 for the stickers.
in 1998 my first thing was a bennie baby. I work across the street from the mall and I was spending so much on lunch I need to make lunch money. Ebay just started to get big and someone told me to pick up the bennie baby's and sell them on ebay and that is what I did.
I started with stuff i had around the house. It was a GI Joe Figure A loose mail away Duke. It sold for$17 I bult up cash and started buying. But i have been buyin g and selling for as long as i can remember. I started Ebay selling around 6m ago. And my proffet is only limited by how many post i do. But my sale are up 58% from this time last year. And with the economic situation im very happy
My first Ebay sale was a Beanie Baby Bear, don't remember which one but I remember it went for 10x what we paid for it at the card store! 15 yrs later still at it and over 6000 feedback (and only two stupid negatives) combined on mine and my wife's accounts.
Hey Katie :) Have you ever been ripped of on ebay? I have as a buyer like 3 times.. but im guessing its different for a seller as you wait for the money first? I was like that with uploading vids at youtube still am a bit in a way.. cant get enough sometimes..
First thing I ever sold on ebay was a pair of gap jeans. I started it at $7 and had a buy it now price for $20 and someone did it and I was like AH! And I had gotten them at goodwill too. btw I shop at my local goodwill outlet store too! I just started watching your vids. I go twice a week to the outlet. just today I got true religion jeans, a 70's shirt, and some pretty awesome name brand clothing and I sell on ebay too! Totallly addicting!
It's silly really, but I went to an antique mall, in the *early days* of ebay and got a few items at a low price, one being a cool retro Hall pitcher with a lid and two other items, and I made money! It just confirmed for me I could do it, and away I went. :)
I sold a book. without pics. Back then you had to know alot of HTML to get pics on ebay. How things have changed for the better. I started in 1999 I think I had window 98. lol .. dial up as well. listed two items a week.
I haven't sold anything yet but i am watching everyones videos to learn how. I think i'll be ready as soon as i learn to make good close up photos. Enjoy your videos. keep them coming.
@5redbird Hopefully your camera has a macro setting. If it does you will see a button that has a flower symbol on it. That's what i use for close ups!

@katiemariepatton Hi Katie, thanks so much for your videos. How the heck do you not cut your own throat financially in regards to shipping?
Is there a way to precheck shipping costs?
Thanks! :)
