It was to promote No on Prop 8. The destruction of the bedroom metaphorically symbolizes the destruction of peoples lives by having their rights REMOVED. It shows how your own room and all your valued possessions are capable of being taken and destroyed (for our homosexuals rights if prop 8 is passed).
