  • gaga bright me here

  • they need to pull this weird bitch off the cooking channel seriously

  • @Newbpwng your mothers a gay fag hoe

  • @missroyaleprincess enlightening comments like this are what make my day :3

  • really love this! i miss her on tv!

  • and here it is: le gateau victoir au chocolat mousselin - one of the great chocolate cakes of all time, .... according to me!

  • Julia Child was certainly a gift to the the world. She shared fine cooking in such a gentle, funny way - much cooler than the hellish kitchens of today. :)

  • she was just so natural and creative... Im not interested in making food or anything, I just like to watch her :D

  • LET THAT GIRL COOK!

  • I think there's too much flaming in tabletop cookery

  • the music sounds like three stooges or something.

  • A few drops of cognac.. that never hurt anything.

  • i love julia child

one of the few tv chefs that actually taught something (:

  • Too bad Julia Child was never a challenger on the Iron Chef. I would've love to see that.

  • I made the steak and the cake recently, and oh my god what a wonderful dish!!! The cake is difficult, but well worth it!!

  • could ring alives Kitchen

  • I met her and she was very amusing

  • And remember, if you accidentally drop the meat in the kitchen, just put it in the chafing pan and nobody will ever know! (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

I like her later shows, but I still adore "The French Chef!"

    Bon appetit!

  • Different Steak Diane than I'm used to, but I really have to try it. And of course a few drops of cognac never hurt anything!

  • when she talks about the cake, when she turns on the egg beater, when she whisks the eggs, when she talks about not wanting to splatter her blouse. I get so god damn turned on!

  • I'm coming to You Tube soon! Request recipes and Sub now!

  • i love the movie..

  • I Have loved Julia Child for 50 years,, Well not like that!! but My Mom watched Her when I was a little Punky Kid!! So I made this Video Tribute to Her Style!!

  • I wish they would show the whole show!

  • Ahhh! Her voice is soooo irritating

  • @129LANA0heart0 Her voice can be irritating to some, but I'd take it any day over Rachel Ray's over zealous and raspy delivery of her inane phrases and made up words. Julia's simple and direct approach is what appeals to me.

  • @senoramariposa I disagree. But alright i get what you're saying.

  • Wow, c'est incroyable comme Meryl Streep joue à la perfection le rôle de Julia Child.

En tout cas la vrai Julia est impréssionnante. Le film est superbe. Bravo et..

    Bon Appétit ;))

  • "Pour olive oil with a flair because you're doing public cooking." She was the best.

  • The chocolate cake is entitled "Le gateau victroire au chocolat, mousseline"

  • Julia child was born to do this kind of stuff and also she is a Genius.

  • Super-duper chocolate cake! Jeez! I met her once very briefly and she really did sound like that! She was an original. Meryl got the voice right!

  • I remember watching this show as a kid in the 70s - it came on at 11am on Saturday mornings.....great memories.

  • I'm hungry now!!!

  • Julia Child inspires me to be a better cook.

  • 7:19 I'm gonna put ina few drops of cognac ... that never did hurt anything.

  • superduper

  • I love Julia Child too.

  • To bad food network has gone so mainstream. at least Julia engaged and taught you. Food Network is uncontrollably edited. No mistakes and gives a presence of perfect chefs on the tv programs. Chefs, no matter how good are you, you can never be perfect, you always have to learn.

  • no sabia nada de Julia Child, hasta q mire la película sobre ella, me encantó.....quisiera tener su don para la cocina

  • I want her oil holder! its adorable

  • I ADORE this woman!!!!!!! SHE IS MAGNificant. I love to cook with her.

  • I don't know how anybody can watch this without eating something. I have like two plates of food in front me right now.

  • i love her and i love her book, her book is teaching me things my husband didn't learn in a baking school.

  • @danger689

Thanks to my Dad and Julia I don't even have to open a recipe book.

I just know what foods will work together because of the tools that I got from them.

  • Don't you just hate the sleekness and presentation of contemporary cookery shows!

  • Julia was probably the best chef ever. Her show was so orgininal and if she messed up she joked about it.

  • Her voice just bugs me! And Meryl did a wonderful job!

  • She was always about cooking as art, she used real technique. Nothing like cooking easy 30 min meals on the run that everything is about today.

  • What a voice! You could listen to her read the phone book!

  • How refreshing her style is.

  • did juilia child past away?

  • @jam101606 yes :(

  • @jam101606

    Yes she died in 2004.

  • yes, i've seen this character imitated before.. i didn't know it was based off a real person

  • awww that looks yumii :D i loveee juliaa child!!

  • I don't think anyone has ever discussed Julia without imitating her.

  • she is the proof that if to really want you can do almost anyything. she was the most unlikely person to be a tv-chef and yet she did it....

  • I Wrong Me..

    "Cooking Channel"

    Classic Cooking..

    Friday 1:00PM...

  • "Cooking Channel"

    Friday 3c/4

  • Wow, I didn't know they were using mashed potatoes out of a box all the way back in 1978! I was raised on the stuff in the 90's. Not any more, I'm eating the good stuff!

  • i loved the editing

  • I certainly don't know how to cook. Watch my video "30 Minute Meals in 5 Minutes with Adam and Rose".

  • Perfect! she seemed to have so much fun... and a decent love life too!

  • Mashed potatoes were made out of instant powder like Uncle Ben's.Not much real stuff in them, you know...

  • "Real mashed potato" Julia says, adding that it's a rare thing. How on earth do they make mashed potatoes in the USA if it's not by cooking and mashing potatoes!! :-)

  • I feel breathless when I hear her speak. She breathes funny and I star feeling tired

  • lucky america to have had this wonderful woman

  • @Khymy - You're absolutely correct. I, always, regarded her as a national treasure. She is sorely missed by many.

  • LOL - WTF is IrmaCerrutti talking about!?

  • I love watching anything she does :) Please enjoy our channel as well. Hope you find info that may be helpful for health and fitness.

  • As soon as the body beautiful begins to effervesce, insert energetically, slip into a tight—fitting sheath and hump the boiler jostling the umbilical pigeonhole of the chimney.

  • Next, drop by drop, brouhaha indoors the muddy absinthe and, whilst the whole bang shoot lazily wanks upstairs abutting a spuming prick, cement the Rosemary, bayleaf, succulent dung, anonymous teeth and eccentrically—synthesized marijuana.

  • I swear this Woman makes cooking so much fun. She is so amazing.

  • Now bung the banger to the boiler together with certain faggots. Ram in the baguette, gyrate the libido bolt upright and, sitting on a stiff spade, impregnate the body beautiful roughly to ooze at every pore, upstairs, all the juices. Vital statistics will look rather lumpy and gross at this stage, but thats totally middle class.

  • Pre—seduce the chef to two hundred and seventy—five degrees Fahrenheit. Stew the spittle in a hulking incombustible boiler until plonking verboten, then sate the sausage inside the body beautiful, just a few trollops at a time, till they metamorphose a fishy stuff all over. As the trollops pump out, ravish them to a Tony Award, then insert the knobs bumper—to—bumper and, with the libido still mounting, judder schoolmistress roughly until juiceless at the butt ends.

  • Teeth and eccentrically—synthesized marijuana.

  • Love the "Pounding Spoon!" I think she is very sweet. Love that she says a little congnac never hurt anything.

  • Half a stomachful of muddy absinthe.

  • One vigorously—stuffed spatula of villainous muesli.

  • Unusual bayleaf.

  • Uncommon limb of ill—mannered Rosemary, or half a bathful of inflamed Rosemary.

  • One syringe of greenish spittle.

  • One full—blown scent of dung, explained away.

  • A three—quarter wheelbarrowful of knobs, undraped, exploded inside passages, then uncorked into sheaths.

  • Before there was Martha....way before Nigella....there was Julia.

  • Julia Child is a straight up legend

  • she is so damn cool this women and i meen the real julie !!! i saw the movie julie and julia and i most say; awsome movie i loved it o^-^o xoxoxoxoxoxo

  • i loved her ....but was julia really a man?

  • Is there anyway to get the entire series on DVD.? I never saw it when it was being shown originally. Ditto for Julia and More Company.

  • She's so adorable :)

  • I LOVE JULIA!!!!

  • is this really her??? ive just watched julie and julia and wanted to see what shes like?

  • @kitchykaye there's only one julia child and meryl streep aint it...for one, child's about a foot taller than streep...dan aykroyd was far closer to her physical dimension.

geena davis would have been a better choice, or john lithgow.

  • @teflonmagnet so is this her though in this youtube video?? she is like a man in drag i cant tell if its someone taking the micky or not ha ha

  • @kitchykaye no, this cybernetic organism 14006--qq1x719--JC. it was given a limited production run in the mid 70s. julia spent much of time at chippendales during the 70s...she didn't have time to stuff turkeys and g-strings.

one way to tell it's a cyborg is to note the unnaturally brisk whisking speed as she beats the egg whites....definitely not human.

  • @teflonmagnet ha ha you shouldnt tease me, Im SUPER GULIBLE!!!!! ha ha

  • haha! or otherwise known as chocolate moose cake .. 0:59

  • great; v4ideo; see; the; mov4ie; read; the; books; see; ITS; COMLICATED; you; will; laugh; your; asses; off; especially; when; meryl; says; ''; i; prefer; a; lot; of; seamen''

  • She was wonderful! I love how she said the word "butter".

  • I love the basson quartet intro which was written by old rumble voice himself, Robert J Lurtsema who hosted _Morning Pro Muscia_ on WGBH for years. Used to love to hear the chirping birds that always opened his show.

Julia had some great friends and admirers.

    Still does.

  • julia child died at age 90 how sad!!!!!!!!!!!! but her cooking will be found history someday!!!!!!!!!!! her husband died at age 92 now we don't have anyone to cook just like her!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i think the barefoot contessa is the new juila child ...well for me at least she is

  • i adore ina!!!

  • Ina is a hack

  • ha ha a hack thats a bit severe!!

  • Well, to say Ina Garten is a "hack" may be a bit severe but she's certainly not in the same category as Julia. Julia was all about taking the time to get maximum flavor from food. Ina is more about doing something fast and easy that tastes okay.

  • @tzkelley i just thought it was funny, inas a hack! hee hee to be honest im from the uk so i had no idea who julia childs was til i saw the movie, have you triedjulias recipies??

its all about delia smith here in the uk do you like her?

  • I've tried many of Julia's and Ina's recipes but I have never heard of Delia Smith. I guess boths sides of the pond have their own celebrity chefs!

  • I love you Meryl Streep, por ser unica.

  • Shes one of a kind, great! always imitated never duplicated, I just sent a video responce, Thanks

  • She worked her ass off, boy she was one hot tomato, and there was no "in her day" because her mastery lasted for her life. Damn, awesome clip.

  • julia child is a sexy bitch

  • you talk about your mother ok!

  • so i think its funny that before the video i didnt know who julia child is and now everyone has come to recognize her

  • Omg that looks delicious

  • my god, merly streep pulled this off superbly. i love julia child, shes such a sweetheart.

  • @gertiebuoyz indeed! and I thought that she was overacting!

  • It reminds me of Mrs. Doubtfire! Meryl Streep really got the essence of the character! (doh! it's Meryl Streep!)

  • OH MY GOD!! I thought Meryl Streep was exagerating her play or something, but NO!! She's really was just like that!!!! HAA!!! NICE!!!

  • Ha ha - same here. I watched the film the other day and thought, "Ok, she's got to be overdoing this - no one could possibly sound like this!" Then I watched a couple of these clips on youtube - I guess someone really did! :D

  • Makes me wanna get her cook book but not get fat in the process! I am a slightly offending 80% of the time vegan!

  • gosh, that sauce made for the steak has everything in it but the kitchen sink. haha, i bet its delicious though

  • what was the cake that she made?

  • Brings back many happy memories. I used to watch cooking shows on PBS with my grandmother and Julia was always a favorite. Gotta love the good old days of food TV!

  • I just adore this woman!

I had to break out her book "Mastering the Art of the French Chef" tonight and cook something. She is really the only T.V. Chef I love to watch.

  • She's so adorable. "Leftover for the cook, I'm gonna eat that later....by myself." Hahaha. :)

  • Julia Child was the food network

  • @lexieyellow She still is, despite being dead.

  • A family friend grew up in Pasadena, CA Julia was his neighbor. He said the street always smelled of her wonderful cooking- he was not allowed to sample any of her cooking....his mom got mad when he remarked that Mrs Child was a better cook!

  • wow! meriil streep sounds just like her in julie and julia

  • I agree! GREAT MOVIE. i loved it!!! And will add it to my DVD collection.

  • One of the great chocolate cakes of all time, according to me.

    LOL!

  • She worked for the CIA. I swear to God. It's true. So, what does that mean? I'm not sure.

  • @2242bzo CIA - Culinary Institute of America

    Located in Hyde Park NY

  • She worked for the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), actually, as a research assistant and file clerk. The OSS was later superseded by the CIA.

  • She worked for the OSS which later became the CIA. It was confirmed after she died that she did do some spy work for the OSS in addition to being a secretary.

  • culinary institute of america :)

  • JULIA CHILD IS BAD ASS!

  • I like when she screws up her words it's funny but she just keeps right on going, not many people can do that. I like watching the old videos and seeing how a real cook, cooks. The ones these days are very bland, not even remotely interesting to watch. Wherever Julia is now she's probably cooking something lol, She's cool to watch.

  • shes so adorable !! i love her!!

  • Meryl Streep is a GENIUS...

  • I'm about to watch Julie & Julia and so I thought I would look up some videos of the real Julia Child. She and Meryl Streep are very similar people and have very similar mannerisms. And if I would have seen her and thought of an actress to play her in a movie, I absolutely would have picked Meryl Streep.

I Wish cooking shows were still like this and not like Rachel Ray who I hate.

  • i wish i had more time to cook at home. if i did i'd try all of julia's recipies. she's just such a special and iconic cook

  • I am luckily enough to get hold of your first edition 'Mastering the Art of French Cooking" I may not cook every recipe over a year...but I'm definitely going to give it a good go!! Thank you for introduction me to French Food, the common way for common people!!!!

  • Thank you julia, you are the original......miss you...because of you i love to cook for everyone in my life........ thank you for the insight...

  • HERE THAT EVERYONE?

    :

REAL mash potatoes, with ACTUAL potatoes.

yeh, those are really hard to come by.

  • They are so easy to make! The reason that you never hear of them today, unless it's a holiday meal is people do not cook anymore. I blame it on an over-scheduled, hectic lifestyle of the average modern family. Slow down a little, de-clutter the schedule a bit, and cook.

  • her personality is lacking in the chefs of today ..she was not afraid to make mistakes...she did not have that generalized personality and politeness about her...sure she was polite and well mannered..but she was quirky and not afraid to show it

  • The only Modern Day Chef that reminds m of Julia is Paula Deen. She messes up and laughs about it.

  • doesn`t anybody have any more videos of her? there were so many shows of or with her...

  • Julia was a treasure, no doubt about that but don't generalize when it comes to todays cooks and chefs. Many of todays cooks are just as passionate about food as Julia was and unless you've worked 70-80 hours a week in a professional kitchen, comments about the laziness of todays cooks mean nothing.

  • She is the best I learned how to make Pouch Eggs what a coook love her

  • i absolutely love her----------she was absolutely amazing.

  • The cooks today couldn't hold a candle to Julia, with their lazy asses.

  • mmmmm, that steak and cake look divine!!! i would love to try some of those sometime. and what a wonderful vid, seeing the master of cuisine at work. she was a jewel!!!

  • i think she was a certified chef dude? if not close enough! some chef's are offended after all the schooling, money spent, (crappy jobs to get where they are) when you call them a "cook" no offense against ANYBODY...just talking! sorry maybe I''m just to anal! but I know after I graduated and with all the good stuff I learned I was smilin" when professers and other's called me chef, after all the years of-"line,grille,broiler and saute cook"! she's the best!

  • 'Nifty..... intimate dinner for four'" .....she is a classic, once in a life time, treasure!! I look so forward to making mashed potatoes and peeeeas(as she says), and steak diane. ..& that cake!! I love when she says " I just want you to see everything" (3:13). SHE IS SO GENUINE! CLASSIC...,.Got to love her!

  • Aww. I met her once briefly and she chatted with me. Julia Child said, to me, over the stem of her glasses, "well, you do like to EAT, don't youuuuuu?" I'll be damned if I'll disregard her contributions. Her book, "My Life In France" is a wonderful read, I'm actually getting to know her. Bon Appetit!

  • 8.56 "I think this is a nifty little dinner and I really agree with myself." LOL! Go Julia!

  • she really know how to cook!!

  • OH MY GOODNESS. i LOVE this woman!

  • Just say the movie. Great movie for a chick flick.

  • OMFG, The overture had a contra bassoon in it. AWESOME!

  • is this where barry humphries got his dame edna voice from?

  • Did you see her lick that spatula?

  • Streep does a great job acting her out. she sounds just like her:)
