Actually, cats from different areas DO have different meowing sounds, and many Japanese breeds actually do sound more like a "nyan" than a "meow", even to people from the USA. It's just like how a Great Dane's bark sounds incredibly different from a Chihuahua's high-pitched yelping.

Let's get this straight; Japanese; Nyan=Meow, its just how they heard it. Since they hear a different accent maybe your 'meow' sounds like Nyan to them. Since us English-accented people know that a cat 'meows' we always hear MEOW. Now could you leave 2cool4uification?
