@airsoul789 Yes, he is. Some people can do that with A-type barre chords such as those two, while other people have trouble doing it this way and have to do the three higher frets with their second, third and fourth fingers (sometimes referred to as the traditional way of doing A-type barre chords) and only barre the lower fret with their first finger. Everyone's hands are different.
@tmfoote6 It is my opinion. he is strumming it albeit with his finger nails but it was played finger style and just does not sound right being played this way. thanks for your OTT reply though
@rallyeluke rallyeluke: you are an idiot and a douche. This guy is giving the world his musical knowledge free of charge. If you are not intelligent enough to know that every piece of new information has value, than I pity you and eagerly await your departure from the human race as you are weighing the rest of us down
P.S. I don't think the '78 recording explained the licks...
@Rorschachxx1985 The fretting for the chords in this video are as follows: Dm X57765, C X35553, Bb X13331, A X02220, A7 X02020, F 133211. Hope that helps.
@Rorschachxx1985 as he said, he's assuming you already know at least something about the different bar chord shapes. they are very simple, you should learn them
Thank you very much, it is really a nice tutorial, you address the small da-drrraa part in the rhythm. Many other tutorials miss this small tweak and just teach the plain rhythm. It would be nice if you told what part is two separate guitars and what part is playable on a single guitar.
Started watching your vids thru guiterstringsforlife, thought they where good, but after this one, I'll watch no more due to your darwin fish. Sorry you've got that all wrong.
I'm playing with a pick...thanks for the lesson dude gonna move onto next solo licks. Is that a fender esquire? I'm using a yamaha silent. Cheers mate.
Holy mackerel. This is brilliant - awesome explanation, slow enough for a newbie like me but not so slow I lose interest. You may be my new hero. Although you make barre chords look so easy - I know 'how' to do them (i.e. make the shapes) but man they hurt - think the action on my gee-tar is a bit high. Either that or I'm just a weakling and need to harden up lol. Now, to find the next part ...
HOla, perdona pero no sé Inglés. Lo primero enhorabuena pues está muy bien todo el tutorial. Y quería preguntarte las uñas que utilizas, qué marcas son, dónde se compran, o las haces? en fin, información. Gracias. Saludos.
So, what's there to dislike? Sultans of Swing is a MK/Dire Straights classic.

notice that the bottom string is muted through almost the whole thing, and the second-lowest doesn't get much use either.
The whole lead part revolves almost entirely around the top 4 strings.
"Allright now" by free is similar.
In fact, in the studio sometimes they'll take the bottom two strings off!
