I wouldn't even call this a remake, since it's so different from the original. But neverthless I like them both: the original version is one of the most epic power metal songs that I've heard + it was the first sonata arctica's song that I ever heard. On the other hand the lyrics fit better on this version, I could almost see this as an aria on some opera. (Just my humble opinions, don't flame pl0x)

I actually heard this version before the original. Nonetheless, I ended up liking this much better (one of my favourite songs) and think the lyrics and melody fit better slow like this.

It's eerie and dark, yet so soothing and calm at other points. The whole going super fast and guitar solos in the original just doesn't work for this song's lyrics. Besides, it's a nice change from most of Sonata Arctica's stuff.

This actually is much better than what I though of it two years ago.

Don't get me wrong, I like both versions, and I miss Jani so much in Sonata Arctica, but his depart had nothing to do with the musical change Sonata has these days.

Tony himself wrote it on the official website. He wanted to create something different, yet still very metal-ish and beautiful. - he succeeded by making this.

They both have their own merits. I think both are pretty good (the original being one of my favorite songs for a long while). The first one was fast and unrelenting, this version is soft and beautiful. The problem is that is that there's such a huge contrast between the two, and more than that the lyrics don't seem to fit the slower, softer version. Sounds more like a song about lost/tragic love, especially around 2:30.

It's not the music Sonata Arctica most usually plays, and most possibly it was a dislike due to the fact that they tried turning a 100% power metal song into something way more "soft". Most of the times this change doesn't go very well, and nor did it go here in my opinion. Though it might just be me.

I love this version, I think it's much better than the original. The original is awesome, don't get me wrong, but it's pretty intense and you can hardly understand the lyrics. Personally, I like Sonata's slow and fast songs, but I still prefer listening to the slower ones.
