  • the second riff on 1:57 sounds like Operatic -"Old Time Radio" (chorus)

  • cool riffs

  • Your riffs are great but they sound better without the whammy. Sorry, but it's true.

  • whatever the other people say, i liked it

  • What the fuck was that? Sounds like complete shit

  • If thats the only purpose of the true bypass, well it would be better to use a killswitch in your guitar, i agree with the other comments, if you know how to use the whammy on the right riffs it would be very nice, i suggest dont ever use it as a wah pedal hahaha

  • wtf whats the use of your switch it's almost the same with the pedal :P

  • So how did you get that tone for the first riff at 1:00, when the Whammy wasn't used? It's definitely not clean. Sounds awesome.

  • @TwoTones That's the Catalinbread Silverkiss being used as an overdrive.

  • thanks for the info on how to mod the whammy!

looking forward to modding mine now.

    great sounds btw!

do you have a description of what other pedals your using?

  • @sctaerprhearna The only other pedal being used in the video is the Catalinbread SilverKiss (as a light overdrive).

  • that is badass how its modified like that

  • Nice chords/voicings.

  • awesome modification! great job!

  • so did u fix the "tone sucking" feature of the wh-4 or did u just hide it?

  • It's fixed.

The effect is completely bypassed when bypassed.

  • @Songsremainthesame wait!. tone sucking? that's what i just expirience with the whammy just 3 seconds ago, i use to put the whammy at the very first but i just got my zvex fuzz factory. and put the zvex first cause if i put the whammy first the zvex doesn't osc very good and it drops a lot of noise, but when i turn off the whammy it sortof filters the signal. and the zvex is now just a weak fuzz ):

is this what you are talking about?

  • That you touch in the minute 3:00 - 4:40? very cool!!

  • It seems good for recording, but it seems like it'd be too much of a hassle for live performances.

  • i like the mod but can't u just put the treadle in the position for the effect then tap the bypass button on and off

  • You probably couldn't stomp down fast enough to get the same staccatto effect.

  • guess so

  • @XanceMRevola You can bypass the glissando effect completely with the momentary switch. That's the most useful part. It's a completely different approach to the whammy effect at that point.

  • Dude I love you playing! What's the chord progression at around 3:50?

  • What kind of distortion are you using, or is it the amp's dirty channel?

  • It's the Catalin Bread Silver Kiss.

  • Sweet stuff. Is this at a moderate price (being like 150$ haha)

  • are you running gain before or after the whammy in your signal chain? if i were to hazard a guess, it'd be the former. which probably helps remove some of that artificial-sounding whine characteristic of digital octave pedals, no?

  • Whammy before dirty, for that very reason. The distortion more natural after.

  • how does TheGreatGuitarist1 know how to play guitar, let alone how to use the internet, let alone what the internet even is? jesus, great mod, dude!

  • is this video the bad quality cause somehting is like REDICULASY fussy when you play. i have the same pedal just not modified and it sounds better...

  • dude, this mod is sweet. great job, excellent video.

  • What exactly does this mod do? From my understanding you the bypass switch makes it so you play with the whammy when you want and then let go when you're done? What about for more glissando sounds?

  • are they ever going to come out with a whammy with better tracking? after $200 retail i'd pay another $100 to make it tight like a pedal that specialized just in octave or just in whammy...

  • whats the riff at around 4:00? Tabs anyone?

  • sorry but the DigiTech whammy dosn't sound very good at all soo why the hell have you Modified it.

i mean it sound like shit with the Modified

  • and the only one who can play with the DigiTech soo it sound good is Tom Morello

  • And Jack White!

  • Comment removed

  • wow if i get a whammy pedal ill defintiely look for your tutorial this could be real cool

  • Thanks for the tuto. I did the mod and bye bye the tone sucking !

  • It can be really cool if you know how to use it properly.

  • i don't get what it is that you people like about the sound of this whammy thing

  • Listen to solo at the end of 'The Blue' by David Gilmour. All of your questions will be answered.

I recommend the live version from Remember That Night.

  • David Gilmour is awesome love his work with both Pink Floyd and his own work.

  • I like the riff with the fifths

  • wow, you have some really nice riffs

  • Hi. Just curious if those are your riffs, or if they're from existing songs? I liked them.

  • There are all my riffs (most from a single song, the rest made just for the vid).

  • could you perhaps furnish us with the details of said song? ie. album and artiste, and perhaps somewhere we could check them out

  • The riffs are original ideas. None of these are on any of the recordings on my page, but you can hear some more of the music on my page (link in description).

  • i cant wait i just bought one for $153 did i get a good deal?

  • used? not really.

Ive bought 2 in the past year for 88 and 120 each, locally. No shipping costs.

  • You say you can blend without the mod.

    How, exactly?

  • You CAN'T blend without the mod.

  • it sounds good if you use it right, he's just awfull

  • Agreed.

  • Hmmmm nicely done video, but why on earth would one want to make anything sound like this?

Im all for unique sounds such as Tom Morrelos scratching and van halens palm phaser and power drill stuff, but this is in audable, your making pretty nice riffs sound like vomit.

  • tutt su macill di pedali pe nu cazz'ì suon'ì merd!

  • sounds shittie

  • how much would you charge to mod my whammy? thanks!

  • I did mine and its awesome

I think diy is tough if you dont have modding experience but the mod still isnt terribly hard just follow step to step

  • my whammy is on the way. does it really suck tone out of you guitar? and do you see a difference both in the guitar tone and the whammy engaged after the mod?

  • ya making it true bypass stops all the silly tone loss im at that point where

unless im using reverb delay caked glissando's out of my whammy where tone loss doesnt matter to me anyway on account of the reverb

then I only use the momentary switch and I just hold it the whole time i need it then let go when im done

  • how much would you charge if i sent you my whammy to mod?

  • Awesome video man.

    Loobs

  • imagine a 3 octaves up

  • Thanks for the demo. I like what you did with it. Keep the wheels turning, they make a nice sound.

  • awh man i need one of those id have fun all day...Wah+Whammy= monkeyS!!!XD!!!

  • Awesome work Brother! Youve completely convinced me to go out & get this pedal. BUt let me ask you something, how would you say the Whammy would work w/ bass??

  • Glad you dig it. No idea how it would work on bass, but I have to say, there's no bottom end loss when the pedal is engaged (at least with guitar).

  • Digitech does sell a bass whammy if you didn't already know this. I'm not sure of the name but is is blue and has the same style of effect but for bass.

  • Gorgeous sounds.
