If thats the only purpose of the true bypass, well it would be better to use a killswitch in your guitar, i agree with the other comments, if you know how to use the whammy on the right riffs it would be very nice, i suggest dont ever use it as a wah pedal hahaha
@Songsremainthesame wait!. tone sucking? that's what i just expirience with the whammy just 3 seconds ago, i use to put the whammy at the very first but i just got my zvex fuzz factory. and put the zvex first cause if i put the whammy first the zvex doesn't osc very good and it drops a lot of noise, but when i turn off the whammy it sortof filters the signal. and the zvex is now just a weak fuzz ):
@XanceMRevola You can bypass the glissando effect completely with the momentary switch. That's the most useful part. It's a completely different approach to the whammy effect at that point.
are you running gain before or after the whammy in your signal chain? if i were to hazard a guess, it'd be the former. which probably helps remove some of that artificial-sounding whine characteristic of digital octave pedals, no?
What exactly does this mod do? From my understanding you the bypass switch makes it so you play with the whammy when you want and then let go when you're done? What about for more glissando sounds?
are they ever going to come out with a whammy with better tracking? after $200 retail i'd pay another $100 to make it tight like a pedal that specialized just in octave or just in whammy...
The riffs are original ideas. None of these are on any of the recordings on my page, but you can hear some more of the music on my page (link in description).
Hmmmm nicely done video, but why on earth would one want to make anything sound like this?
Im all for unique sounds such as Tom Morrelos scratching and van halens palm phaser and power drill stuff, but this is in audable, your making pretty nice riffs sound like vomit.
my whammy is on the way. does it really suck tone out of you guitar? and do you see a difference both in the guitar tone and the whammy engaged after the mod?
Awesome work Brother! Youve completely convinced me to go out & get this pedal. BUt let me ask you something, how would you say the Whammy would work w/ bass??
Digitech does sell a bass whammy if you didn't already know this. I'm not sure of the name but is is blue and has the same style of effect but for bass.
the second riff on 1:57 sounds like Operatic -"Old Time Radio" (chorus)

So how did you get that tone for the first riff at 1:00, when the Whammy wasn't used? It's definitely not clean. Sounds awesome.
TwoTones 1 year ago
@TwoTones That's the Catalinbread Silverkiss being used as an overdrive.

sctaerprhearna 1 year ago

so did u fix the "tone sucking" feature of the wh-4 or did u just hide it?
Songsremainthesame 1 year ago
It's fixed.
The effect is completely bypassed when bypassed.

It seems good for recording, but it seems like it'd be too much of a hassle for live performances.
XanceMRevola 2 years ago
i like the mod but can't u just put the treadle in the position for the effect then tap the bypass button on and off
trocker92 2 years ago
You probably couldn't stomp down fast enough to get the same staccatto effect.

guess so

Dude I love you playing! What's the chord progression at around 3:50?
Wzwain 2 years ago
What kind of distortion are you using, or is it the amp's dirty channel?
666MrRockandRoll666 2 years ago
It's the Catalin Bread Silver Kiss.

Sweet stuff. Is this at a moderate price (being like 150$ haha)

Whammy before dirty, for that very reason. The distortion more natural after.

I did mine and its awesome
I think diy is tough if you dont have modding experience but the mod still isnt terribly hard just follow step to step

my whammy is on the way. does it really suck tone out of you guitar? and do you see a difference both in the guitar tone and the whammy engaged after the mod?
jerrylauj913 3 years ago
ya making it true bypass stops all the silly tone loss im at that point where
unless im using reverb delay caked glissando's out of my whammy where tone loss doesnt matter to me anyway on account of the reverb
then I only use the momentary switch and I just hold it the whole time i need it then let go when im done
fatblckchick 3 years ago
how much would you charge if i sent you my whammy to mod?
