  • Happy 26th Birthday Zelda (I Missed it by a day sorry)

  • Ladies and gentlemen...I present to you...The Legend of Zelda!

  • this just surprises me. 122 years n Nintendo never realised how popular both this Japan release and the original Zelda really were. Infact over the many years of game development by Nintendo. Nintendo themselves never indeed realised how great their consoles caught on in popularity.

  • are there any english translations of the FDS games other there? Metroid, Zelda, etc Seems like it would be a fairly simple make she the games were in English on NES..

  • @brandon9271 Erm... You really think FDS Zelda or Metroid would need to be translated?

Especially metroid where you don't need to know anything about the game, just play it.

  • @Bastiest i think i remember the titles original reffrence.

Translation= Zelda no Densetsu The Hyrule Fantasy which I think this theme was made for.

  • Hyrule Fantasy (FDS)= Japans answer to the NES Legend Of Zelda. And boy do these Japanese know how to develop a game xD.

FSS didn't used a FM synthesis, just a new sound channel (I forgot the name of it though ,but it's easy to find), many people make that mistake.

  • @Corad4 It used custom waveforms. (It also had basic FM synthesis that was never used.)

  • thats what it should have sounded like on the nes!

  • Happy 25th anniversary, Link :)

  • The Japanese can remember this, the Americans didn't.

  • Seems like at the beginning, there was an extra background noise on all four beats when there should've been one only on every other.. but that's nitpicking :D

  • Happy 25th Birthday nintendo!

  • @hylianlegends Nintendo is actually 122 years old (but I know you were reffering to the LoZ series)

  • @hylianlegends You mean happy 25th birthday LoZ? Way to make us Americans look like a bunch of ignorant hicks

  • This song is remastered version from the album "The Legend of Zelda Melodies of Time" true?

  • @nenriki86 Uh, no. This is from the Famicom Disc System version...

  • actually the fds channel is a ram based wave table

  • The worst thing about the NES is that they used what WOULD produce extra sound channels for region coding. Talk about adding insult to injury!

  • I am so tempted to try and do a doodle of that scene for dA....

  • When the japanese version of The Legend of Zelda was released in Japan on the way back in 1986.

  • The extra channel has FM Synthesis sound so it will sound like AdLib/SoundBlaster on MS-DOS.

  • even nintendo just don,t realize how really brilliant their console really is once generating stereo,i allway,s tout that stereo would make sounds worsde ,but no in fact sounds in stereo so good that i just can,t imagine that it was all really intended to be in mono.

    really sad from nintendo.

  • @johneymute You should mod your NES or Famicom to put out stereo. The simple mod which puts out the square waves on one channel, and the triangle & noise & DPCM waves on the other is pretty easy to do. The more elaborate one which mixes some mono into each channel is quite a bit more complicated and requires massive tweaking, but sounds MUCH better. Even better than this!

  • @ThrilloVanHouten This one sounds different becuase the FDS system has extra hardware in it to give more sound channels
