Done in the trailer yes but it's an actual artistic method for video games, the idea is that forcing the character (you) to say things you may not say removes you from the character
When you play Zelda you're not watching Link, you are Link
@unorthodoxJ It could be done to have him say very little or none at all and still be good. It just takes fantastically creative minds that seldom exist. For example a guy wrote an entire graphic novel without using the letter "e". So Link may say little or nothing throughout the movie because there is no need for character development, but we just lack the creative minds to see it down well. We need another Shakespeare.

In general I'm against adapting this medium into film really. The second-person perspective that video games use doesn't translate well to other formats. If there's a Zelda story worth telling just make another game
ok. so if this WAS a movie, the costumes quality effects... all perfect. all they would need to step this up from a 9.9 to a 10 would be a peffered actor for link. this ones okay... but there are people who would fit as link better

@ChrisHunter12345 I would. Yes. Dialogue isn't really needed. I mean... Link adventures mostly by himself. He's not going to talk when he's fighting enemies. As long as there is enough action to make up for it. Remember that portal short film? Sure it wasn't a full length movie, but they still managed to make it work without the character talking.
It suddenly occurs to me that the Ocarina of Time's Link is more powerful than most X-Men characters.
I mean, even without the broken equipment, you get the Naryu's Love spell, which makes him INVINCIBLE for like way too long...30 seconds or something. Then with the golden gloves he can lift a rock that must weigh 50 tons and throw it like it's nothing.
Then there's the whole "My sword is an infinite power source for the ultimate time machine" thing.

The reason IGN made this is that they were trying to show everyone that it could be done. They were actually trying to make one but Nintendo wouldnt allow them to make it so thats why IGN made this trailer. You know, I thought about this, and not much dialogue is actually needed from Link.
I mean, 90 percent of dialogue in Castaway is a guy talking to a basketball.
Meanwhile, in District 9, most of the dialogue is "fuuck" with his long "u" sound.

I think Link would be the biggest challenge as far as characters go. Link never talks in the games, so what kind of personality could they give him without making fans of the game hate him? Also, how could they make his outfit not look cheesy in real life?

The reason IGN made this is that they were trying to show everyone that it could be done. They were actually trying to make one but Nintendo wouldnt allow them to make it so thats why IGN made this trailer. People only like the trailer and think it should be real because it never was real, and is never going to be. This actually looks pretty bad, Ganondorf looks especially bad (and poorly acted).
