Isn't it ironic that after nearly an entire life of no other thought than that of what happens in front of him on a chessboard, Fischer died at the age of 64? Which is of course the number of squares on a chessboard.
@widebody123 No one on earth can determine what would have happened if Fischer played Karpov or Kasparov. If he wasn't so demanding and hadn't lost his mind, who knows how many beautiful games he would have played when defending the title.
@ruofhatem - No, he didn't. That's what all the haters like to repeat, but just because they say that doesn't make it true. Bobby was never diagnosed as losing his mind, ever.
@JohnQuincyAdams1 First off, i'm a fan, not a hater at all. Have you read any articles or watch any of his documentaries? Post 1972 after winning it all, he became a total reluse, paranoid. He didn't get his 'one' demand so he refused to defend his title against Karpov. He was a jew loudly advocating anti-Semitsm, he cheered when the 9/11 attacks on the U.S. occurred. He had close friends and chess players who asked that he seek help and he refused. How can you justify he didn't lose his mind?
@ruofhatem - I have spent 35+ years researching Bobby Fischer's games and his life. I have many books on him. I know very much about Bobby Fischer. You are not a psychiatrist, therefore you have no basis to state Fischer lost his mind. That is totally inaccurate. His behavior was perfectly understandable. He didn't refuse to defend his title, the FIDE refused to allow him to and the very demand he made that that FIDE wouldn't agree to, is how the World Champion is determined today. Bobby was...
@JohnQuincyAdams1 Funny how you automatically assume me not to be a psychiatrist when you know nothing of me or my background or where I went to school. I suggest you should never assume, and your lengthy response of info about Fischer. i and hordes of people are already aware of. FIDE didn't refuse him to play like you said, Fischer still could have played Karpov without FIDE giving into his only 'one' demand. Karpov continuously request a challenge, yet Fischer never responded.
@ruofhatem:From your comments it's obvious you're NOT a psychiatrist-as regards the 1 conditionFIDE refused Him,ironically they gaveKarpov manytimes that advantage in the rules that were subsequently usedfor future Championships-finally,what Fischer spoke about the new world order/world conspiracy waspretty accurate-problem was he was as way ahead of his time in his perceptions as he was in hischess-the future will exonerate him-he wasn't mad-just ill done by & broken unfairly by very evilforces
@ruofhatem:in fact karpov wasn't too upset for gaining the title without having to face Fischer and found excuses to avoid meetinghim later when they were negotiating a match outside of FIDE in 76/77.Read Kasparov's MGP4 for details-as Karpov was never tested in his time,he wasn't strong enough to face the first real challenge that came his way i.e.Kasparov.With your limited knowledge you really should not be adopting such a condescending know it all tone.Read and study for a couple of years.
@harmaxxx Wow, so here you come along 3 months later to stick your nose in something that has nothing to do with you. I was going back and forth with JohnQuincy who obviously refused to reply back to what I was saying. You're ignorant for calling me "condescending" when I replied with truth, facts implemented by authors, IM's and Grandmasters. Doesn't matter what you say, no one asked for your opinon. Stick to your xxx videos.
@ruofhatem - ...was ripped off by the FIDE and as a result, so was all of chess. Bobby was justifiably angry and bitter with the FIDE and walked away from it all, as any normal person would. What's the point of continuing to play if the FIDE wouldn't allow him to defend his title? With the U.S. government betraying him, setting him up, persecuting him and destroying his life, it's not at all surprising that he cheered 9/11. Since he was a little boy, he and his mother were followed by the FBI...
@JohnQuincyAdams1 Bobby walked away from it all "as any normal person would." Sure, whatever your definition of 'normal' is. You can't say what anyone would have done if they were in Fischer's shoes, it's all subjective. How did the U.S. government betray him during the time he was World Champion? It's obvious that Fischer was offered millions for appearances and exhibitions and he disappeared. Tell me if Chess meant everything to you, would you let anything take that away from you?
@ruofhatem ...24 hours per day, everywhere they went, for many, many years. Was Bobby paranoid? Maybe, but justifiably so. If the government did that to *you*, what affect would it have on you, especially as a child? Did you know that Bobby was set-up to be arrested in Japan and that only a few weeks before he had checked the status of his passport and was told it was fine? Did you know he was *beaten* by the Japanese prison guards? Did you know the IRS sued him for back taxes over the....
@ruofhatem,...money he won in his rematch with Spassky, even though he never earned that money in the U.S., never kept it in the U.S. and never spent it in the U.S.? Did you know the U.S. government wanted to throw Bobby Fischer into prison for *ten years* for the heinous crime of, (drum roll), *playing chess*? Bobby's father was Jewish and abandoned Bobby at a very young age, which must have caused a lot of emotional pain so his anti-Jewish rants are understandable. I'm not condoning any...
@JohnQuincyAdams1 "Bobby's father was Jewish and abandoned Bobby at a very young age, which must have caused a lot of emotional pain so his anti-Jewish rants are understandable." Are you trying to be a psychiatrist now? You can't speak for anyone especially saying "any of us might have behaved the very same manner, it not worse." The government came after Fischer cause he didn't pay his taxes from 1975 to 1992 and his violation of the trade emargo on Yugoslavia.
@ruofhatem ..any of Bobby's more outlandish behavior, however if we put ourselves into his shoes, I think it fair to say that any of us might have behaved in the very same manner, if not worse. After what Bobby's own government did to totally destroy his life, it is a great testimony to Bobby's character and resiliency that he didn't become so depressed that he committed suicide. A lesser person would have. The fact that he didn't supports the fact he hadn't lost his mind.
@JohnQuincyAdams1 Thousands of individuals most likely homeless roaming the streets are diagnosed with a mental disorder such as schizophrenia and so according to your logic just cause they don't support or have committed suicide they haven't "lost their mind." You don't have to be a psychiatrist to see when someone's peak chalks off into a decline into madness.
@widebody123 - Bobby Fischer achieved chess feats that Karpov and Kasparov never even dreamed of attaining. Bobby didn't run from anyone. His demands for defending his World Champion title were not met by the FIDE, (the ONLY time that has ever happened with ANY World Champion), and his title was stripped from him and given to someone who never played a single game to deserve it.
at 1:01 "then he plays with Tigran Petrosyan, smashes him as well" looks like this guy tries to sell that 4 to nothing too :) . If not mistaken score was 3:2, but no argue, Fisher was a genius.
Come on Boris Spassky was not Soviet machine. He was attacking player with improvization, and he never did training alot, was a little bit lasy guy.Bobby was a genius and he worked as anybody before, and he really was as machine in chess table. To shame he left in 1972, he is the greatest ever player
I read somewhere that he could "see under the board". He knew what was coming way before it happened. I wonder how many moves ahead he could really see.
I find it frightening that even one person could defend Fischer, and somehow hold the US Government responsible for his demise. I'd argue this point by point but I am not in the routine of arguing with lunatics.
@JustPassingByToday - With all due respect, you seem more comfortable passing judgement on people you don't even know and insulting them, than what really happened with Bobby Fischer's life. Take care.
@JustPassingByToday I find it more frightening that you seem to deny the U.S government had it in for Bobby, i think you need to go through the anals of history and do a little research
@JustPassingByToday - With all due respect, it might be more frightening that you could make such a statement, when it isn't based in fact at all, but hearsay. If you research the facts, you will discover that Bobby's life was destroyed by his own government.
@RK831 - Why would we even care how well Bobby would play vs a computer though? Personally, I find chess computers very boring, unimaginative and uninspiring. I feel that too many chess players try to mimic the moves of a computer, thereby stagnating their game and not becoming as good as a chess player as they could be.
@Dysanfel -Indeed, you are correct! Bobby's Mother was from Eastern Europe and back in the 1950's when she came to America, that was during the Cold War between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. Bobby's Mother was reported to the F.B.I. as a possibly Soviet spy due to a babysitter finding a piece of paper with Russian writing on it, (it was merely a letter to a friend of Bobby's Mother), and they were subsequently followed by the F.B.I. everywhere they went for many years! *Justified* paranoia!
One question, Is The Garden of Earthly Delights - Hieronymus Bosch (painting google it) a vision, a prophecy, of America and 9/11. God thats all i see.
@melissacarterTS - If someone catches a disease and can't act normally, do we fault *the person* or the *disease*? We fault the disease of course and so it goes with any kind of mental illness/issue. Don't fault *the person*. Having compassion goes a long way to help in understanding.
@JohnQuincyAdams1 No, you don't understand: Bobby Fischer's both biological parents were Jews (his German official father was not his biological father, check any online Encyclopedia), so Bobby was Jewish. That's right, the Jews are a nation, the Chosen Nation, as defined by G-d (Blessed Be He) in the Bible.
By the way, 65% of the World Chess Champions have been Jews. Hey, did you notice that in the last 3 Chess Olympiads, Israel was always placed ahead of the US, and beat US 2.5-1.5 ? :)
by his victory ... he defeated the cold war ... he got americans to believe they were not in threat by russia ... did way more than play chess ... Kennedy couldnt do that .... Fischer got america 'on its feat' ... then generated billions of dollars throughout world chess organisations ... the 960 chess broke the 'conventional' thought patterns in our minds .... opening a world of future oppotunity in larger boards and 3d cube chess ... expanding our MINDS ... US govt couldnt handle that !!
@PersonOfBook - How would you know *anything* about capitalism, the greatest form of economic freedom and prosperity in the world? You are enslaved with the chains of *communism* in North Korea! lol
The scumbag named William Bybel served 8 years in federal prison for the sexual molestation of? two young boys and in now currently serving the rest of his sentence via house arrest. He resides at 1325 Pennsylvania Ave in Bethlehem, PA.
William Bybel is a convicted sexual predator who? raped two young boys, one 8 and the other 10 years old. This degenerate does not deserve to continue living.
It's only a matter of time before you get a knock at your door!
ATTENTION EVERYONE.......The guy who has been spamming all of the chess-related discussion threads of an obese loser from Pennsylvania named WILLIAM BYBEL who has failed at trying to become a good chess player and has also failed at every other aspect of life. He receives a disability check every month from the government.
He has no friends and no life whatsoever, so he spends his days harassing people on the internet, especially those who can play chess.
Haters, envies, and the people whom I feel disrespect. Has Fisher beat the Kasparov? Tal? Karpov? NO!!!! SO SHUT F*** UP! Fisher is a GREAT player! But how the pussies surrounding him say that he hates russian? russians (i'm russian) and americans (i'm american, too) have on thing in common, they both like the game of chess!
@YetiDeti - Bobby Fischer destroyed Tal, Petrosian, Smyslov, Korchnoi, Spassky, etc. He single-handedly took down the Soviet chess empire, which is something to be admired, not bashed.
he deserves no sympathy. Once brilliant beyond comparison, he was a hateful beligerent anti-semite even as a young man and eventually allowed his inner poison to destroy his image and reputation completely. Yes, a brilliant mind once, but an asshole through and through. Good riddance.
@melissacarterTS - It is unfortunate you can't separate Bobby Fischer's unmatched ability to play chess from his tortured personal life that was due to the way in which he was born. The two have nothing to do with each other. Have some compassion and understanding. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
@JohnQuincyAdams1 I find it unfortunate that you can separate a person's chess abilities with that person's overall character. The two are inexorably intertwined. I think Bobby Fischer was the greatest chess player in history. An undisputed genius. I also think he was a complete asshole. Not just an asshole, a lunatic the last thirty years of his life. But hey, opinions as they say....
@melissacarterTS - Overall character has nothing to do with the ability of a person to play chess or not. One doesn't have to be a saint in order to be good at whatever is they choose to be good at. Most people who fall into the genius category are looked upon by average people as, "lunatics". You seem very quick to pass judgement. Apparently you knew Bobby Fischer personally?
@JohnQuincyAdams1 Again, i have to disagree with you. You say Fischer's unmatched ability to play chess and his tortured personal life have to be separated because "they have nothing to do with each other" how on earth did you come up with that statement? not having a solid parental figure around for him other than his sister Joan at such a young age which led him to devote all the countless hours and studying of chess. Obviously the two go hand in hand, how can you not see that?
@HiImBobBum better than bobby fischer..that is an extremely shallow statement, you must know him personally or just want to advertise your favorite player
fischer isn't my favorite..but there is no denying he is by far the best, he would have smashed the guy you named along with some of my main favorites
@HiImBobBum better than bobby fischer..that is an extremely shallow statement, you must know him personally or just want to advertise your favorite player
fischer isn't my favorite..but there is no denying he is by far the best, he would have smashed the guy you named along with some of my main favorites
Fischer was potentially the best of all time. Unfortunately he didn't take on Karpov and Kasparov as would have been his natural career. In my view he would have beaten Karpov in 1975 and 1978, but been eventually beaten by the young Kasparov. By this time he would have been 40 years old and that's when it starts to go downhill for a Grandmaster.
We will never know, but as it stands Kasparov is clearly the strongest.
Bobby Fischer is one of ma favorites too... but I still have to say in ma opinion the best chess player of the world and all time is Jose Raul Capablanca... Capablanca, Kasparov and Fischer were ma top 3 favorites all time... but despite all... I pick Capablanca xD!
exactly my friend that is the point his "personality" was the great reason to win the worldchampionchip..incredible trust himself, high theorical analysis the first to beats the soviet machine(something impossible in those years). he was a brilliant champion, and gave the sport-cience a higher category...like human being, him, you and me we have shadows and lightsthe really important is the legacy!!!..
And this guy flourished in an era when there were no computers to practice games using programs like Fritz, no Kasparovs to train with: it was Robert James Fischer and his chess set, that's all.
Had Fischer had the training Magnus Carlsen had, it would have been a much easier defeat for the USSR.
LogicalFlawDetector - Agreed! :) What Bobby was able to achieve was absolutely monumental and stunning. That later in his life he was persecuted by his very own government, had his life destroyed and as a result lashed back at what had destroyed his life and behaved in a manner that most people couldn't understand, for some people to then criticize Bobby for that is beyond my comprehension. Apparently some people have no compassion, nor do they want to have any compassion. Very, very sad.
people always talk about bobby as the greatest, but people forget how difficult bobby made this match with his ridicules demands that psychologically wore out spasky, he was not eating right, couldn't sleep, etc. In fact Spasky could of claimed the win and he didnt, he was a gentleman when it came to chess. Was Bobby great? yes, but to me his world championship dont mean much, because he made it very difficult for spasky. instead of having a fair average match like everyone else had in the past
cuevasdecamuy - Bobby wasn't the one making unreasonable demands. He asked for a quiet room to play in, without the distractions of cameras, spectators too close to the game and decent lighting. That isn't being, "difficult", that's being quite reasonable. If you want to talk about someone being difficult, you'd have to look at Spassky and his communist cohorts, who accused Bobby of using mental telepathy on Spassky, or a brain wave generating transmitter hidden in Bobby's chair, aimed....
cuevasdecamuy - ...aimed at Spassky, somehow interfering with Spassky's thinking and having the chair torn apart for inspection, along with the lights in the room looking for this magical brain wave transmitter! lol Spassky had said Fischer didn't really bother him, but the pressure of being a communist world chess champion did and that he didn't like it. It was the communist Russians that were being difficult, not Bobby.
actually thats way off. Bobby was very difficult, did you know he even wanted the bathrooms changed because they where not high enough, and they did changed it for him, also he was claiming hearing noise from the cameras while they where not turned on and making demands for that too. they removed around 6 rows just for bobby when any other chess player had played just fine in the same scenario, in fact bobby's behavior is what led to suspicion by the Russians
cuevasdecamuy - Before Bobby Fischer came along, the conditions that chess players had to endure were deplorable, as well as the prize money being horrid. That was why Bobby made the demands he did, to improve chess for everyone. Even Borris Spassky has said that because of Bobby Fischer's demands, that they all became rich men. This is why Bobby made the demands he did and not because he was merely, "being difficult" It was the communist Russians being difficult, demanding chairs be torn apart.
I will agree there. fishers demands did helped the professional chess world. but the reason why fisher did them was not because he was the martin luther king of chess, but because he held the world in contempt.
cuevasdecamuy - Bobby Fischer demanding improved chess playing conditions for chess players has nothing at all to do with Bobby supposedly holding, "the world in contempt". One has nothing to do with the other. That's more than a stretch. If I may, this video is about the greatest chess player that ever played the game and the brilliance of his games, not your personal dislike for the man you never even met and clearly don't understand. The prejudice you display is disturbing.
you are just a fan boy for what I can see. I dont need to know the guy personally to know he is a messed up individual..A person who sends a letter to Osama Bin Ladden congratulating him for 9/11 where hundreds on innocent people died, to me thats enough to know the guy is scum or crazy, he was an chauvinist, anti Semite(irony he was half jewish), anti american(in a way I dont blame him for the resentment) , egocentric, arrogant .etc. thats the person. as far the chess player goes world class.
cuevasdecamuy - I must admit, you are very adept at passing judgement and ridiculing people you don't even know. Apparently you are not aware of how the U.S. government destroyed Bobby Fischer's life. He was justifiably angry. Again, you don't know the man at all. Stop passing judgement on people, especially those you don't even know.
hey research the guys history, everything I said is fact. is not judgment based on lies but on facts. yes he was justifiably angry at the government. but was he justify for antisemitism etc. What i have said is based on fact, what you have said is based on blinded loyalty
cuevasdecamuy - I have researched Bobby Fischer's life and chess games for the past 35 years. I think I'm a very good chess player because of Bobby Fischer and I've won championships. Vincent van Gogh reportedly cut off his ear in a fit of his supposed madness, but do people focus on that, or his art? Bobby Fischer was the greatest chess player of all time and to somehow discredit that by disparaging him for having issues later in his life is not only un-compassionate, but downright wrong.
Obviously you have not read my comments, Im not taking anything away from his chess. His chess was the best, and personally I think if he would of stayed on the game and kept working hard he would of broken 2800 and maybe 2900 or at least close. but the guy as a person was not very good and there is no way to really justify him. great chess does not build a clean slate for unethical conduct.
cuevasdecamiu - Kindly knock off the barbs. I've read your comments quite clearly, thank you. Is that a two way street I wonder? Bobby's corrected modern day rating is over 2,800. Bobby had nothing left to prove. Many people retire at the peak of their careers. That's nothing new. I've read many accounts from people who met Bobby and knew him, that Bobby was just fine and blessed with a great sense of humor. Again, don't fault a person for having issues, which were brought on by outside...
heard the expression "a champion is not a champion if he does not defend his title" How many times did bobby defend his.one thing to win the title another to retain it. Bobby most likely resign the title because he could not handle the possibility of loosing it to someone else, is a defense mechanism."Karpov only has the title because I resign not because he could beat me". He even said that the Kasparov and karpov match was choreograph, Bobby's downfall was winning the title he lost purpose
Bobby Fischer is the greatest chess champion there ever was and likely ever will be. It is becoming increasingly clear that you haven't gone over too many of Bobby's masterpieces. A pity.
I have gone through many of them, and they where brilliant, and yes his bust to the kings gambit great, but like I said one thing has nothing to do with the other. Im a fan of chess you are a fan of bobby fischer.
To be a fan of Bobby Fischer, one would have to be a fan of chess. They are inseparable. I am a fan of Bobby Fischer's chess, not of his mental health issues later in his life. You on the other hand criticize a person for having an illness and pass judgement on them for that. I personally find that very wrong.
...influences in their life, that totally destroyed their life. Have you ever thought about what 8 months sitting in a jail, being beaten etc., would do to you? Again, have some compassion and understanding for crying out loud.
also fishers demands where wearing him down. the guy was not even eating nor sleeping because of fishers demands, spassky was not like the communist and was a gentleman all the way. he should of had claimed the win and he didn't out of respect. Bobby fisher had to receive a call from the white house to play, because they where not meeting his demands and was threatening not to play. BTW Fisher's attitude is attributed to the possibility that he might of had asperger's syndrome
cuevasdecamuy - Bobby Fischer made no demands of Borris Spassky whatsoever. However, Bobby's chair being torn apart and inspected by the communist Russian's certainly was an unreasonable and paranoia filled demand. Their demands had nothing at all to do with improving chess, whereas the demands Bobby Fischer made improved the conditions professional chess players play in to this very day. Bobby's demands contributed to improving chess, not deteriorating it.
also you are forgetting that fisher's behavior manifested in antisemitism. and his paranoia for the Jews. you can tell the difference in interviews when fisher was sane. and when he lost his mind. this debate is over, I know the truth and every historian will agree with me just see the documentaries. the guy was one of the best chess players, but as a human I just feel sorry for the guy
Robert James Fischer the greatest chess player in history elo 2700 his declarations against the Jews have been distorted by the media, a great sportsman and gentleman of the sport
what the difference bet fischer and kasparov?? well fischer is an all time great champion and hard to beat player never been through traditional chess schooled program like in the former soviet union were kasparov was develop and honed his skill.
American? Ha... He's Icelandic if you ask me. America completely betrayed Fischer. One match against Spassky made him a hero, another made him a criminal. Hypocrisy.
Yes, shame on the American politicians and every single American who contributed - or just stood silently when something could be done - to the alienation and persecution of Bobby Fischer.
gotank - Sadly, you are correct. Just goes to show how power can go to the head of a politician. Very, very sad the way the Bobby's life was destroyed. :(
@haron11 That was after he had been running from the US for around a decade. I've read just about everything he's publically said, and much of it certainly don't conform to what society finds acceptable. However, I can easily imagine others in his position speaking in such a way out of bitterness towards his country - and plenty do, just with less direct prose than Fischer, who was never one to hide what's on his mind.
Youre right he wasnt normal by American standards because he was enlightened to Zionism and its control of America. It's no coincidence all the great minds are aware of it, but most are too worried about their careers to talk about it and Bobby wasn't. He was born to a Jewish mother also so he has some insight.
@NephilimFree What are you talking about? When have I made any mention of Hitler? In fact, I don't think even Fischer cared about or spoke of Hitler despite his antisemitism. Either way, my comment here was not intended to be anti-American, but sympathetic to Fischer, especially for how he was treated immediately after the 1992 match.
@NephilimFree More like 70 years ago. 200 years ago we were still a mostly pastoral, feudal society with no real economy and no infrastructure. We didn't fully industrialize until the 1870's, and didn't become a world power until the 1920's.
The problem is that the European economies are tied together into the Eurozone, whereas we deindustrialized to take advantage of the Chinese economy, so Europe and China are positioned to grow, while we are positioned to eat shit and die.
@Stantzs 200 yrs ago the citizens here defeated the most powerful nation in the world in war and enforced their independance. if you want to rant about the help they got from the French and Native Americans, don't forget the birtish also got help... and lost. I agree about the clan of Europe though and industrialization. However, it was the historical beginning of the US that began change for the world with Europe taking a back seat.
@NephilimFree I took it right out of a history book. You can disagree about the the early US agricultural economy, the foundation of the US industrial base and the reasons for recognition as a world power all you want, it does not change any of the facts.
As funny as it is to watch you passionately defend what you believe the facts to be, what you are talking about and historical fact are two entirely separate things.
@Stantzs I never dissagreed with you that the US was not industrialized as much as Europe until years later. However, the US became a world influence military power before that time. Make sure you understand someone's position before attacking it.
@NephilimFree It's impossible to understand a position that's based on facts that only exist in your mind. We did not create a real navy or standing army until we saw the need for it in the Spanish American war. And we were not considered a military, industrial , or world power until after World War 1. Mostly because all the previous world powers had either been bankrupted or destroyed by the war.
No one took us seriously until after World War 2. That's why the japs thought they could win.
@Stantzs You fail to understand that the US defeat of Britain twice before 1815 made the US a nation of respect around the world. Britain was the most powerful nation in the world, and the US defeated them twice in a relatively short period of time. This made an impact on the international scene. I could care less how many frigates the British had. My point is not about numbers, your is. My point is that the US became a world power by defeating Britain. PERIOD. And that is true.
@NephilimFree No, we were not, we had no ability to project force into the world, we barely had the ability to project force into our own territories.
The early united states was mostly just famous for the slave trade, and for offering cheap land to settlers, and independence was the result of a successful sixteen year long insurgency, the early attempts to field an army against the British were a disaster. The war of 1812 was a very small sideshow of the Napoleonic wars. You're delusional
@Stantzs The European countries immediately began showing the US respect and allowed Benjamin Franklin to act as an official Ambassador to France, which had an attitude of intellectual and cultural superiority, and would not have accepted an ambassador from the US unless they had respect. The European countries realized the US was now a world force and would be a big player in the world, and responded to this new respect for the US in many ways.
@NephilimFree By itself, the Monroae Doctrine forced Europe to respect the US. United States would consider any attempt by European countries "to extend their system" to the Western Hemisphere as a threat to its "peace and safety." This made the hairs on the European leaders stand up, and forced them to respect the US as a WOLD MILITARY POWER equal to if not superior to theirs because of their continual victories over Britain. All of this was before 1930. You just don't know enough is all.
@Stantzs At the Battle of Thames in western Ontario, William Henry Harrison defeated the remaining British and Indian forces. Britain was the slow one to show US respect because of pride, even though we continued to outsmart them. Battle of Lake Champlain - US naval victory over Britain ended British military intrusion into North America for good. The early 19th century was one US military victory over Britain after another.
@Stantzs The continual victories over Britian astonished and impressed European nations, and the US was considered by them to be a world power. Only Britian felt otherwise because their pride had been so damaged by their inability to wrestle control of North America from the US. Meanwhile, other European countries conducted international business and elected ambassadors to the US. THE MONROE DOCTRINE of 1823 was a powerful, bold action and forced all natiuons to realize the US was a world power.
@NephilimFree The Treaty of Paris astonished Europe because the founding fathers committed themselves to Democracy, instead of making their own monarchy. The Monroe Doctrine was enforced by the United Kingdom, because the United States had no navy , and the British felt that halting European colonizations in the Americas was in their best interest.
The United States was not a considered a regional power until after the Spanish American war, and was not a world power until after world war 1.
@Stantzs You can argue until you're blue in the face. The smaller size of the navy is irrelevant. The outcomes is what made a difference. The US had become a world power before 1830, consistently defeating Britain in naval and land battles, and proclaiming the Monroe Doctrine - an act closing off all of the Western hemisphere - more than half of the land on earth - to foreigh powers - an act of grand audacity that demanded the respect of the entire world.
@Stantzs The Monroe Doctrine left lasting impressions in the western world, as well as America's reputation. Through consistently defeating Britian on land and sea in battle, and the Monroe Doctrine, the US emerged as a world protector, and deteriorated its relations with Europe. The Europens did not like it but had no choice but to respect it because they had seen the military sucess over the British and determination of the American people to support their government.
@Stantzs YOu may be misunderstanding my position as meaning the US was as fit economically and militarily as European nations for war. I have made no such assertion. It is unarguable however that because of the US's success against Britian and the Monroe Doctrine, the US was seen from that time forward as a world power. The US's sucess in the Spanish-American War, which took place before your beloved WWI, further established this American Prowess in the world.
@NephilimFree Yes, you've been saying that the United States arrived on the scene as the equal of all of Europe, and I've been saying we were only even considered a regional power since the spanish american war, I mentioned that in every post I made, are you even reading any of these?
@Stantzs dont waste your time aguing with this guy... he is dishonest at the highest level and will probably ignore anything you could say, fall back to his basement and claim victory after you got bored of his attitude.
you know like that pigeon taking a crap on the chessboard, knocking all the pieces down...
@Stantzs No, I have said no such thing. You are grossly distorting my statements. However, you can argue until you are blue in the face. You're wrong. The US was considered a world power by Europen governments because of it's consistant victories over Britian and the audacious Monroe Doctrine.
@NephilimFree: "The US was considered a world power by Europen governments because of it's consistant victories over Britian and the audacious Monroe Doctrine"
What victories after the Revolutionary War? The war of 1812 was, at best, a draw for the US, with no change in territorial boundaries. Name some of these battles.
Ironically, the effectiveness of the Monroe Doctrine was by the Brits giving their tacit approval, hoping to open up trade with countries formally under Spain's control.
@Stantzs Do you know why you think like you do? Why you want to lessen the successes of the US before the 20th century? It's because you're a liberal, and liberals seek to tear down the good and promote the bad to create a kind of evenness of everything. Your political views are negatively effecting your ability to accept history for what it is. I'm done helping you. Live in your bubble if you like. CYA.
@NephilimFree You idiot, we had no success before the 20th century, that was the nadir of European power, the things that you mention , like the war of 1812 and the monroe doctrine, were not even noticed by the rest of the world. We had no navy, we had no army, we had no economy or infrastructure, we BUILT these things, and that made us great. You have an idea of america that is divorced from reality.
My family has lived in Texas since before the revolution, and I have studied history.
@Stantzs The US had repeated battles with brittain after the Revolutionary War and Before 1912. The US won all of them. I can't help it that you believe your personal opinion qualifies as history. Post what you like. I did my share to help your poor little libertarian mind. I have no interest in reading what you post. Let others read them and see your ignorance. cya
@NephilimFree No, Washington famously lost all his battles, that's why he was in Valley Forge and making raids during christmas. The only direct fight of the war of 1812 lead to Washington DC being captured and the white house burned. This is history, politics have nothing to do with it.
We were a small and backwards nation during the nineteenth century, the zenith of our power was the 20th century, and pretending otherwise is very insulting to the people who worked so hard to get there.
@NephilimFree - typical crap, you spout ignorance and make a huge point of telling people that you aren't going to read their replies. Of course, you don't actually do that: "I'm done helping you. Live in your bubble if you like" When Stantzs replies, you reply right back and then make a 2nd claim about how you're not going to engage him.
.
The war of 1812 was a victory for the US? How so? All pre-war boundaries were observed after the Treaty of Ghent. You are an ignoramus.
@AlanCFA Got some inside info about our buddy nephy. Aparently he has told a few of his EX subscrbers that he is "the biggest intellectual on YouTube". He is simply delusional and needs mental health treatment. And 1 on 1 counseling is not going to cut it. This guy needs a team of specialists dedicated 24/7 to helping him. This is the only shot he has. He is now claiming he defeated a world famous scientist in an online "debate". His delusion knows no bounds.
@MrJmm999 - I'm not surprised. When he claimed that God "...told him to make this video, about 2:00 today...", I knew he was nuts. God always waits until after 5:00 to request that His followers make videos.
@NephilimFree - you see Nephy, the problem is that while on your channel, you can simply block people that you do not like, but on other channels, you have no such power. You also lack the self-discipline to actually stick to your promises to not engage people.
Out here, you can be called on your crap. When you invent Scripture by re-writing the KJV to change "little children" to "a group of teenagers", you can be called on it and you can't block those comments. You are a weasel.

it's quite absurd to think fischer could have challenged garry kasparov, he ran away from karpov. kasparov would have made him look like a beginner.
widebody123 7 months ago
@widebody123 No one on earth can determine what would have happened if Fischer played Karpov or Kasparov. If he wasn't so demanding and hadn't lost his mind, who knows how many beautiful games he would have played when defending the title.

@JohnQuincyAdams1 Post world championship 1972, Fishcer did lose his mind.
ruofhatem 6 months ago
@ruofhatem - No, he didn't. That's what all the haters like to repeat, but just because they say that doesn't make it true. Bobby was never diagnosed as losing his mind, ever.
JohnQuincyAdams1 6 months ago
@JohnQuincyAdams1 First off, i'm a fan, not a hater at all. Have you read any articles or watch any of his documentaries? Post 1972 after winning it all, he became a total reluse, paranoid. He didn't get his 'one' demand so he refused to defend his title against Karpov. He was a jew loudly advocating anti-Semitsm, he cheered when the 9/11 attacks on the U.S. occurred. He had close friends and chess players who asked that he seek help and he refused. How can you justify he didn't lose his mind?
ruofhatem 6 months ago
@ruofhatem - I have spent 35+ years researching Bobby Fischer's games and his life. I have many books on him. I know very much about Bobby Fischer. You are not a psychiatrist, therefore you have no basis to state Fischer lost his mind. That is totally inaccurate. His behavior was perfectly understandable. He didn't refuse to defend his title, the FIDE refused to allow him to and the very demand he made that that FIDE wouldn't agree to, is how the World Champion is determined today. Bobby was...
JohnQuincyAdams1 6 months ago
@JohnQuincyAdams1 Funny how you automatically assume me not to be a psychiatrist when you know nothing of me or my background or where I went to school. I suggest you should never assume, and your lengthy response of info about Fischer. i and hordes of people are already aware of. FIDE didn't refuse him to play like you said, Fischer still could have played Karpov without FIDE giving into his only 'one' demand. Karpov continuously request a challenge, yet Fischer never responded.
ruofhatem 6 months ago
@ruofhatem:From your comments it's obvious you're NOT a psychiatrist-as regards the 1 conditionFIDE refused Him,ironically they gaveKarpov manytimes that advantage in the rules that were subsequently usedfor future Championships-finally,what Fischer spoke about the new world order/world conspiracy waspretty accurate-problem was he was as way ahead of his time in his perceptions as he was in hischess-the future will exonerate him-he wasn't mad-just ill done by & broken unfairly by very evilforces
harmaxxx 4 months ago
@ruofhatem:in fact karpov wasn't too upset for gaining the title without having to face Fischer and found excuses to avoid meetinghim later when they were negotiating a match outside of FIDE in 76/77.Read Kasparov's MGP4 for details-as Karpov was never tested in his time,he wasn't strong enough to face the first real challenge that came his way i.e.Kasparov.With your limited knowledge you really should not be adopting such a condescending know it all tone.Read and study for a couple of years.

JohnQuincyAdams1 6 months ago

@JohnQuincyAdams1 "Bobby's father was Jewish and abandoned Bobby at a very young age, which must have caused a lot of emotional pain so his anti-Jewish rants are understandable." Are you trying to be a psychiatrist now? You can't speak for anyone especially saying "any of us might have behaved the very same manner, it not worse." The government came after Fischer cause he didn't pay his taxes from 1975 to 1992 and his violation of the trade emargo on Yugoslavia.
ruofhatem 6 months ago
@ruofhatem ..any of Bobby's more outlandish behavior, however if we put ourselves into his shoes, I think it fair to say that any of us might have behaved in the very same manner, if not worse. After what Bobby's own government did to totally destroy his life, it is a great testimony to Bobby's character and resiliency that he didn't become so depressed that he committed suicide. A lesser person would have. The fact that he didn't supports the fact he hadn't lost his mind.
JohnQuincyAdams1 6 months ago
@JohnQuincyAdams1 Thousands of individuals most likely homeless roaming the streets are diagnosed with a mental disorder such as schizophrenia and so according to your logic just cause they don't support or have committed suicide they haven't "lost their mind." You don't have to be a psychiatrist to see when someone's peak chalks off into a decline into madness.

@widebody123 - Bobby Fischer achieved chess feats that Karpov and Kasparov never even dreamed of attaining. Bobby didn't run from anyone.

@melissacarterTS - It is unfortunate you can't separate Bobby Fischer's unmatched ability to play chess from his tortured personal life that was due to the way in which he was born. JohnQuincyAdams1 1 year ago 5
But hey, opinions as they say....
melissacarterTS 1 year ago
@melissacarterTS - Overall character has nothing to do with the ability of a person to play chess or not. One doesn't have to be a saint in order to be good at whatever is they choose to be good at.

For me the greatest chess player had been Nimzovitch - the first real modern player.
Fischer was the 2nd big thing in chess that led to contemporary chess. However Kasparov is seen rightly as the biggest.
Note that Bobby retired early so avoided to pass the downward period that ALL chess players pass.
The most difficult opponent to beat had been Petrosian.
Spassky goes as the most likeable grandmaster ever - one of the few humane chess players, he is one of my favourites.

people always talk about bobby as the greatest, but people forget how difficult bobby made this match with his ridicules demands that psychologically wore out spasky, he was not eating right, couldn't sleep, etc. In fact Spasky could of claimed the win and he didnt, he was a gentleman when it came to chess. Was Bobby great? yes, but to me his world championship dont mean much, because he made it very difficult for spasky. instead of having a fair average match like everyone else had in the past
cuevasdecamuy 2 years ago
cuevasdecamuy - Bobby wasn't the one making unreasonable demands.
JohnQuincyAdams1 2 years ago 3
cuevasdecamuy - ...aimed at Spassky, somehow interfering with Spassky's thinking and having the chair torn apart for inspection, along with the lights in the room looking for this magical brain wave transmitter! lol Spassky had said Fischer didn't really bother him, but the pressure of being a communist world chess champion did and that he didn't like it. It was the communist Russians that were being difficult, not Bobby.
JohnQuincyAdams1 2 years ago 3
actually thats way off. Bobby was very difficult, did you know he even wanted the bathrooms changed because they where not high enough, and they did changed it for him, also he was claiming hearing noise from the cameras while they where not turned on and making demands for that too. they removed around 6 rows just for bobby when any other chess player had played just fine in the same scenario, in fact bobby's behavior is what led to suspicion by the Russians
cuevasdecamuy 2 years ago
cuevasdecamuy - Before Bobby Fischer came along, the conditions that chess players had to endure were deplorable, as well as the prize money being horrid.
JohnQuincyAdams1 2 years ago
I will agree there. fishers demands did helped the professional chess world. but the reason why fisher did them was not because he was the martin luther king of chess, but because he held the world in contempt.
cuevasdecamuy 2 years ago
cuevasdecamuy - Bobby Fischer demanding improved chess playing conditions for chess players has nothing at all to do with Bobby supposedly holding, "the world in contempt". One has nothing to do with the other. That's more than a stretch. If I may, this video is about the greatest chess player that ever played the game and the brilliance of his games, not your personal dislike for the man you never even met and clearly don't understand. The prejudice you display is disturbing.
JohnQuincyAdams1 2 years ago
you are just a fan boy for what I can see. I dont need to know the guy personally to know he is a messed up individual..A person who sends a letter to Osama Bin Ladden congratulating him for 9/11 where hundreds on innocent people died, to me thats enough to know the guy is scum or crazy, he was an chauvinist, anti Semite(irony he was half jewish), anti american(in a way I dont blame him for the resentment) , egocentric, arrogant .etc. thats the person. as far the chess player goes world class.
cuevasdecamuy 2 years ago
cuevasdecamuy - I must admit, you are very adept at passing judgement and ridiculing people you don't even know. Apparently you are not aware of how the U.S. government destroyed Bobby Fischer's life. He was justifiably angry. Again, you don't know the man at all. Stop passing judgement on people, especially those you don't even know.
JohnQuincyAdams1 2 years ago
hey research the guys history, everything I said is fact. is not judgment based on lies but on facts. yes he was justifiably angry at the government. but was he justify for antisemitism etc. What i have said is based on fact, what you have said is based on blinded loyalty
cuevasdecamuy 2 years ago
cuevasdecamuy - I have researched Bobby Fischer's life and chess games for the past 35 years.
JohnQuincyAdams1 2 years ago 2
Obviously you have not read my comments, Im not taking anything away from his chess. His chess was the best, and personally I think if he would of stayed on the game and kept working hard he would of broken 2800 and maybe 2900 or at least close. but the guy as a person was not very good and there is no way to really justify him. great chess does not build a clean slate for unethical conduct.
cuevasdecamuy 2 years ago
cuevasdecamiu - Kindly knock off the barbs.
JohnQuincyAdams1 2 years ago
heard the expression "a champion is not a champion if he does not defend his title" How many times did bobby defend his.one thing to win the title another to retain it. Bobby most likely resign the title because he could not handle the possibility of loosing it to someone else, is a defense mechanism."Karpov only has the title because I resign not because he could beat me". He even said that the Kasparov and karpov match was choreograph, Bobby's downfall was winning the title he lost purpose
cuevasdecamuy 2 years ago
Bobby Fischer is the greatest chess champion there ever was and likely ever will be. It is becoming increasingly clear that you haven't gone over too many of Bobby's masterpieces. A pity.
JohnQuincyAdams1 2 years ago
I have gone through many of them, and they where brilliant, and yes his bust to the kings gambit great, but like I said one thing has nothing to do with the other. Im a fan of chess you are a fan of bobby fischer.
cuevasdecamuy 2 years ago
To be a fan of Bobby Fischer, one would have to be a fan of chess. They are inseparable. I am a fan of Bobby Fischer's chess, not of his mental health issues later in his life. You on the other hand criticize a person for having an illness and pass judgement on them for that. I personally find that very wrong.
JohnQuincyAdams1 2 years ago
...influences in their life, that totally destroyed their life. Have you ever thought about what 8 months sitting in a jail, being beaten etc., would do to you? Again, have some compassion and understanding for crying out loud.
JohnQuincyAdams1 2 years ago
also fishers demands where wearing him down. the guy was not even eating nor sleeping because of fishers demands, spassky was not like the communist and was a gentleman all the way. he should of had claimed the win and he didn't out of respect. Bobby fisher had to receive a call from the white house to play, because they where not meeting his demands and was threatening not to play. BTW Fisher's attitude is attributed to the possibility that he might of had asperger's syndrome
cuevasdecamuy 2 years ago
cuevasdecamuy - Bobby Fischer made no demands of Borris Spassky whatsoever.
JohnQuincyAdams1 2 years ago
also you are forgetting that fisher's behavior manifested in antisemitism. and his paranoia for the Jews. you can tell the difference in interviews when fisher was sane. and when he lost his mind. this debate is over, I know the truth and every historian will agree with me just see the documentaries. the guy was one of the best chess players, but as a human I just feel sorry for the guy

@gotank
Omg, have even read and seen his statements about America, jews and G Bush? The dude was a great player but not a normal human.
haron11 1 year ago

NephilimFree 1 year ago
@NephilimFree More like 70 years ago. 200 years ago we were still a mostly pastoral, feudal society with no real economy and no infrastructure. We didn't fully industrialize until the 1870's, and didn't become a world power until the 1920's.
The problem is that the European economies are tied together into the Eurozone, whereas we deindustrialized to take advantage of the Chinese economy, so Europe and China are positioned to grow, while we are positioned to eat shit and die.
Stantzs 1 year ago
@Stantzs 200 yrs ago the citizens here defeated the most powerful nation in the world in war and enforced their independance. if you want to rant about the help they got from the French and Native Americans, don't forget the birtish also got help... and lost. I agree about the clan of Europe though and industrialization. However, it was the historical beginning of the US that began change for the world with Europe taking a back seat.
NephilimFree 1 year ago
@NephilimFree I took it right out of a history book. You can disagree about the the early US agricultural economy, the foundation of the US industrial base and the reasons for recognition as a world power all you want, it does not change any of the facts.
As funny as it is to watch you passionately defend what you believe the facts to be, what you are talking about and historical fact are two entirely separate things.
Stantzs 1 year ago
@Stantzs I never dissagreed with you that the US was not industrialized as much as Europe until years later. However, the US became a world influence military power before that time. Make sure you understand someone's position before attacking it.
NephilimFree 1 year ago
@NephilimFree It's impossible to understand a position that's based on facts that only exist in your mind. We did not create a real navy or standing army until we saw the need for it in the Spanish American war. And we were not considered a military, industrial , or world power until after World War 1. Mostly because all the previous world powers had either been bankrupted or destroyed by the war.
No one took us seriously until after World War 2. That's why the japs thought they could win.
Stantzs 1 year ago
@Stantzs You fail to understand that the US defeat of Britain twice before 1815 made the US a nation of respect around the world. Britain was the most powerful nation in the world, and the US defeated them twice in a relatively short period of time. This made an impact on the international scene. I could care less how many frigates the British had. My point is not about numbers, your is. My point is that the US became a world power by defeating Britain. PERIOD. And that is true.
NephilimFree 1 year ago
@NephilimFree No, we were not, we had no ability to project force into the world, we barely had the ability to project force into our own territories.
The early united states was mostly just famous for the slave trade, and for offering cheap land to settlers, and independence was the result of a successful sixteen year long insurgency, the early attempts to field an army against the British were a disaster. The war of 1812 was a very small sideshow of the Napoleonic wars. You're delusional
Stantzs 1 year ago
@Stantzs The European countries immediately began showing the US respect and allowed Benjamin Franklin to act as an official Ambassador to France, which had an attitude of intellectual and cultural superiority, and would not have accepted an ambassador from the US unless they had respect. The European countries realized the US was now a world force and would be a big player in the world, and responded to this new respect for the US in many ways.
NephilimFree 1 year ago
@NephilimFree By itself, the Monroae Doctrine forced Europe to respect the US. United States would consider any attempt by European countries "to extend their system" to the Western Hemisphere as a threat to its "peace and safety." This made the hairs on the European leaders stand up, and forced them to respect the US as a WOLD MILITARY POWER equal to if not superior to theirs because of their continual victories over Britain. All of this was before 1930. You just don't know enough is all.
NephilimFree 1 year ago
@Stantzs At the Battle of Thames in western Ontario, William Henry Harrison defeated the remaining British and Indian forces. Britain was the slow one to show US respect because of pride, even though we continued to outsmart them. Battle of Lake Champlain - US naval victory over Britain ended British military intrusion into North America for good. The early 19th century was one US military victory over Britain after another.
NephilimFree 1 year ago
@Stantzs The continual victories over Britian astonished and impressed European nations, and the US was considered by them to be a world power. Only Britian felt otherwise because their pride had been so damaged by their inability to wrestle control of North America from the US. Meanwhile, other European countries conducted international business and elected ambassadors to the US. THE MONROE DOCTRINE of 1823 was a powerful, bold action and forced all natiuons to realize the US was a world power.
NephilimFree 1 year ago
@NephilimFree The Treaty of Paris astonished Europe because the founding fathers committed themselves to Democracy, instead of making their own monarchy. The Monroe Doctrine was enforced by the United Kingdom, because the United States had no navy , and the British felt that halting European colonizations in the Americas was in their best interest.
The United States was not a considered a regional power until after the Spanish American war, and was not a world power until after world war 1.
Stantzs 1 year ago
@Stantzs You can argue until you're blue in the face. The smaller size of the navy is irrelevant. The outcomes is what made a difference. The US had become a world power before 1830, consistently defeating Britain in naval and land battles, and proclaiming the Monroe Doctrine - an act closing off all of the Western hemisphere - more than half of the land on earth - to foreigh powers - an act of grand audacity that demanded the respect of the entire world.
NephilimFree 1 year ago
@Stantzs The Monroe Doctrine left lasting impressions in the western world, as well as America's reputation. Through consistently defeating Britian on land and sea in battle, and the Monroe Doctrine, the US emerged as a world protector, and deteriorated its relations with Europe. The Europens did not like it but had no choice but to respect it because they had seen the military sucess over the British and determination of the American people to support their government.
NephilimFree 1 year ago
@Stantzs YOu may be misunderstanding my position as meaning the US was as fit economically and militarily as European nations for war. I have made no such assertion. It is unarguable however that because of the US's success against Britian and the Monroe Doctrine, the US was seen from that time forward as a world power. The US's sucess in the Spanish-American War, which took place before your beloved WWI, further established this American Prowess in the world.
NephilimFree 1 year ago
@NephilimFree Yes, you've been saying that the United States arrived on the scene as the equal of all of Europe, and I've been saying we were only even considered a regional power since the spanish american war, I mentioned that in every post I made, are you even reading any of these?

WinterWezo 1 year ago
@Stantzs No, I have said no such thing. You are grossly distorting my statements. However, you can argue until you are blue in the face. You're wrong. The US was considered a world power by Europen governments because of it's consistant victories over Britian and the audacious Monroe Doctrine.
NephilimFree 1 year ago
@NephilimFree: "The US was considered a world power by Europen governments because of it's consistant victories over Britian and the audacious Monroe Doctrine"
What victories after the Revolutionary War? The war of 1812 was, at best, a draw for the US, with no change in territorial boundaries. Name some of these battles.
Ironically, the effectiveness of the Monroe Doctrine was by the Brits giving their tacit approval, hoping to open up trade with countries formally under Spain's control.
AlanCFA 1 year ago
@Stantzs Do you know why you think like you do? Why you want to lessen the successes of the US before the 20th century? It's because you're a liberal, and liberals seek to tear down the good and promote the bad to create a kind of evenness of everything. Your political views are negatively effecting your ability to accept history for what it is. I'm done helping you. Live in your bubble if you like. CYA.
NephilimFree 1 year ago
@NephilimFree You idiot, we had no success before the 20th century, that was the nadir of European power, the things that you mention , like the war of 1812 and the monroe doctrine, were not even noticed by the rest of the world. We had no navy, we had no army, we had no economy or infrastructure, we BUILT these things, and that made us great. You have an idea of america that is divorced from reality.
My family has lived in Texas since before the revolution, and I have studied history.
Stantzs 1 year ago
@Stantzs The US had repeated battles with brittain after the Revolutionary War and Before 1912. The US won all of them. I can't help it that you believe your personal opinion qualifies as history. Post what you like. I did my share to help your poor little libertarian mind. I have no interest in reading what you post. Let others read them and see your ignorance. cya
NephilimFree 1 year ago
@NephilimFree No, Washington famously lost all his battles, that's why he was in Valley Forge and making raids during christmas. The only direct fight of the war of 1812 lead to Washington DC being captured and the white house burned. This is history, politics have nothing to do with it.
We were a small and backwards nation during the nineteenth century, the zenith of our power was the 20th century, and pretending otherwise is very insulting to the people who worked so hard to get there.
Stantzs 1 year ago
@NephilimFree - typical crap, you spout ignorance and make a huge point of telling people that you aren't going to read their replies. Of course, you don't actually do that: "I'm done helping you. Live in your bubble if you like" When Stantzs replies, you reply right back and then make a 2nd claim about how you're not going to engage him.

The war of 1812 was a victory for the US? How so? All pre-war boundaries were observed after the Treaty of Ghent. You are an ignoramus.
