Neil, being a Canadian, learned a lot of hard facts about the South in the USA when he lived there. He was genuinely concerned about people in the South! He was an artist who showed a lot of courage and backbone to write about issues. His dad was the same way who got fired from the Hockey Night in Canada for telling the truth! Neil showed his protest in songs like Ohio. I love his music!

Nice piece of work from Young then Skynard made a response and enjoyed the fame from it, so did Young. Do you think they give a crap as long as its lucrative. They are both artists. Young puts a better picture across as an artist. Watched him live last week. He was X cell ent.

no, sweet home alabama WAS written as a response to this and southern man. If you listen closely to the lyrics in sweet home alabama you should hear the lyrics "and i heard neil young sing about her" (at about :50). halford is right.
