PROP 19 - Summary

Pros: Legal possession (unlimited at grow site), free, legal, non-medical personal grows, free to receive from friends, Employment protection, local/state police cannot assist feds, PROP 215 and SB 420 remain, the cost of cannabis will be dramatically reduced (50-80% reduction). Medical grows are not confined to 25sqft as per PROP 215.

Cons: Small non-medical commercial grows may not make enough money for it to be worth their time.

Rancho Cordova has proposed a tax on indoor cannabis me-grown for personal use: $600/sq. ft. up to 25 sq. ft., and a $900/sq. ft. tax for anything larger — be it recreational or medicinal — if Prop. 19 passes. That’s $15,000 per year for a 5’x 5’ space and $90,000 per year for a 10’x10'. The Marihuana Tax Act of 1937 didn’t make marijuana illegal, but prohibited possession of marijuana without a tax stamp — which the government never issued... Prop. 19 will do the very same thing:
