  • The raw diet is the best.

  • So who made this video, a competitor company ?

  • INNOVA makes some wonderful dog and cat food....i highly recommended

  • Stupid Marketing !

  • Try Blue Buffalo Thats what I changed to

  • I have been feeding my dog wellness super5 mix for seniors with chicken and recently purchases a bag that was contaminated with flies. When my husband returned the bag, the next bag was also contaminated. The store clerk said "they have been having problems". Has anyone else encountered this recently? I think I will be searching for a new brand!

  • @KWAnnie11

I also have had problems with bugs in my wellness food. No problems with the cats food but the last 2 bags of super5mix for seniors have had a moth like bug flying out of the bag. I am now searching for a new brand. I don't trust wellness anymore.

  • If you have fed this dog food to your pet you are very lucky that your dog is not hurt. This food was recommended to me and I used some of it with no problem and no bones, however, any of the food that has fish of any kind seems to have these sharp bones, including the treats. These razor sharp bones can cut the throat, the stomach and even the intestines as they pass through. The bones are not going to digest quickly like the totally ground up bone meal will. Protect your pet! Check the food.

  • Thank you for sharing this... we just bought this brand and found these bones mixed in with her treats... we bought the Just for Puppy Treats by Wellness. And for the comment below... maybe the dog would digest all the bone maybe they wouldn't, but until the dogs body does digest it what do you think the bones are doing to the dogs insides?????? How long does it take for them to digest the bones???? You really should think before you speak!!!!!

  • The dogs stomach will digest all the bone no problem. I don't know what you're fussing about.

  • We have NEVER had any problems with wellness it's actually a very good food and they use no by product crap that most pet foods use it's all holistic this looks like propaganda to me so I don't believe it!

  • I have beenfeeding my Dog Wellness Sweeet POt and Fish for 11 years now. Never had I a problem with their food or had I ever found anything out of the ordinary.

  • How can anyone trust this video? Video's are to easy to be edited to make it seem like the truth. Plus, other dog owners would be complaining about this product. I agree with boomboxlove8 and weedfroggie!

  • I also was wondering the same thing when I first saw this video a couple weeks ago, but we bought my new puppy the wellness treats because it was highly recommended. And we to have noticed pieces of thin bone about the length of the treat in the middle of the treat, and this morning I found one larger that was sticking out of the treat. As of right now I remove the bone and feed her the treat. But this is a good thing to know about and watch out for just to be safe. I won't buy this again.

  • @jessietoonen LOL where have you been? Other dog owners ARE complaining about this! It's a FACT. Wellness admitted it!!

  • hey its pedigree dog food! lolz

  • u are good pets owner~~~support you~~

  • Why try to take it off the store shelves? Just stop buying it yourself. I tried the brand you suggest and it made both my dogs sick. They threw up and had the runs for days. The vet told me to stop feeding it to them and go back to the Wellness (the only food they can keep down).

  • I have been feeding my dogs Wellness for many years and have NEVER seen any type of bones in the food ever. My dogs won't eat anything but the Wellness. I'm hoping it never gets taken off the shelves because my dogs would more then likely die without it.

  • I can't find any where on the package........where.......exactly this food is actually made.........Can someone help ?

  • I feed BLUE.

  • Here is the response I received from Mr. Kean, the vice president of Research and Development: We wanted to address your question about a YouTube video being circulated in which a consumer alleges that their bag of Wellness Fish and Sweet Potato Dry Dog food contains harmful fish bones. This consumer approached us and told us that the video was “available for purchase”. When we refused, he posted the video on YouTube.

  • @jimlupi All of our testing (and retained samples) clearly shows that there is no safety issue with this product. We put a tremendous focus on our product quality working closely with our co-manufacturers to continuously track product quality from ingredient selection to final production. The Wellness quality

  • @jimlupi assurance program maintains the most rigorous standards of food safety, exceeding industry guidelines and following the same strict standards that are applied to human food. With over 80 years of dedication to pet nutrition and health, we stand proudly by the quality of our products and their safety.

  • i feed my dog blue bufalo but when i open wellness bags i never found anything like that

  • With all due respect, I had to return a bag of Wellness Core-Ocean formula food today for the very same reason. I found several pieces of fish bone sticking out from the sides of the kibble. My local pet food store took back the bag and gave me a full refund. I will contact Wellness as well. I have a sample of the food and took photos. We have been loyal Wellness consumers for years, and this is the first problem we have ever had. This formula should be changed.

  • U Sound Like Microsoft Sam xDDD

  • Truth is hate to those who hate the truth.

Seems to be true even in PET FOOD warning videos.

Thank you for taking the time to film this.

And YES, I've found some in my animal's wet food.

The bone broke apart when I smashed so i thought it was a rare occurance

and discarded it. I feed my animals a variety of no-grain foods so they are not

subjected to any single company's orocessing error (or worse-intentional disregard for profit)

  • this is basic science guys, there's no way that there would be loose bone fragments at the top of the bag of dog food, just by the sheer movement of the bag (ie delivery trucks) all those little bones would have settled to the bottom of the bag...

  • I am feeding my dog this food..i picked through some and there are no bones whatsoever! . He had the food with the fake bones inside the spoon before he scooped the actual wellness super5mix. At 0:59, he pours out the Wellness dog food and the fake dog food with bones in it. As he pours it out, the last poured out has the bones, meaning it was on the bottom of the spoon. The top half is clean. you dont think we would realize huge white bones sticking out of our dog food? He's from Purina! :D

  • @calbileo You are in denial. You don'y want to believe that you feed that to your beloved pet. I am not an employee for ANY dog food company, but I strongly recommend BLUE. It is healthy and holistic, and all of the ingredients are human grade. Very healthy and gave my pets energy that they never had before. It contains fruits and veggies and a protein source of your choice (they have a lot to choose from), but I personally feed longevity. I have inspected the food and there are no whits specs.

  • This video is a joke

  • Two years ago, I fed Wellness dry dog food to my dog, and found a red colored kibble, different shape and color from the rest of the kibbles. I returned the bag to Petco. Another time, I fed him Wellness canned dog food. He licked the bowl clean, and that's when I noticed a piece of thick, rectangular metal about the length of a quarter. I took the can and metal to Petco and explained to them. I gave Petco my number and the piece of metal, but Petco never followed up w/ me.

  • I found bones in the wellness wet cat food! I have a toothless cat with stomatitis and his mouth already hurts enough as it is. I discovered these because I noticed he would yelp in pain even after we watered down the wet food. I used a sieve to rinse the wet food and found little jagged chunks of bone! Who can you trust these days?

  • So buy a different food you fucking moron!

  • Funny to see comments of people getting angry with this man for telling the truth. You are fools. You are overly sensitive because you are feeding this crap to your pets and now you are finding out it is dangerous. Instead of getting mad at the messenger, this man, showing you the danger, you need to stop feeding this crap, complain to Wellness and demand that they change this. Not only are they being dishonest about the bones in the food, but they are lyingly claiming it's safe. It's NOT

  • Blue buffalo ftw :)

  • Comment removed

  • This is why I use blue buffalo wilderness.

  • Use Solid Gold Hund-n-Flocken adult maintenace. It is great for my dog..great coat, lots of energy..little shedding

  • This guy is a fraud. This looks like a staged video. The manufaturer should prosecute this guy. I feed my dog Wellness and have NEVER experienced this. Get a life you loser.

  • @gcoatoam Guess what? "The manufacturer" cannot prosecute "this guy" because IT IS TRUE! They admited it in email and claim that it is still safe. Cooked bones aren't safe. Why don't you swallow and bone and see if it's ok. I'm not feeding this crap to my dog

  • shouldn't the acid in the dogs stomach dissolve that shit

  • Posts some REAL video from PETA going into facilities and proving what goes on with commercial dog food. This is home made crap, opinion....

  • I never had a problem when I bought Wellness.

  • I no longer feed commercially manufactured pet food. Now I home cook for my dogs and cats and also feed raw foods. It's cheaper and far better for them. I don't trust any of these companies with the well being of my pets including the so called premium brands.

  • @TinselWhiskers how cheap

  • This guy seems very anal and manipulative. He already has a piece placed on the table he brings it to and uses that one as the example. Likely the one he cuts himself with too. WTF? He's crazy!! Also he carefully "scoops" the kibble out. I've never in the 3 years I've used this product come across this. Buy another brand if you're not happy!! I don't buy his story!

  • @mossloki What is wrong with you? You're criticizing this guy for going through the trouble of showing people that there is a danger to their pets if they feed this food? You need to thank him. I thank him. He may have saved many pets' lives because he took the time to show this. Wellness ADMITS IN EMAIL that they INDEED DO HAVE BONES in their kibble. They just claim that it's safe. Well... it's not.

  • I have been feeding this for years and never saw anything like what he casually scooped from that bag. I even went out and examined a bag and couldnt find a single bone.

The video also appears to be professionally filmed, scripted, and edited for a home video done by a guy with one youtube video. Something smells fishy and it isn't that dog food!

  • @shadowdog500 Actually this is true. I emailed and called Wellness and they told me that the pieces of bone are too small to cause any harm to a dog. I couldn't believe they said that. Any cooked bones are very very dangerous. Even this small, it can cause tears in the intestines and bleeding.

  • I feed my dogs Wellness for seniors.. looking very closely.. there are a few white specks, but they aren't big or sharp.

  • I would like to see any evidence whatsoever that these bones have been harmful to a dog, other than this guy spewing his opinion.

  • this is why i choose halo

  • My dog was on wellness can food, and I too found bones in it. I contacted Wellpet and mailed them the large bones. I was told that bones are good for dogs. They could care less. Bottom line, you can laugh and not believe, but if you care about animals that may be harmed, just beware. Last year, a lawsuit was filed against Wellness and PetCo, alleging that Wellness's claim of "human grade" was untrue, and that the food contained feathers and non-human-grade cuts of meat. That speaks volumes.

  • LOL! He cut himself! XD

  • This guy is full of it. Notice 2 things. The metal cup clearly has bone material already in it. How can you tell? simple, notice he doesnt scoop underhand like you normally would but rather skims to ad more food on top. Second you think at the top of the bag you'd find loose tiny bones? impossible, they would have settled to the bottom. This man is clearly a fake. Wellness should consider a lawsuit. I love Wellness, Evo and Orijen brands. This guy is a FAKE!!

  • I appreciate this person wanting to share info about wellness. What I don't understand is why he keeps buying it? Why not move on to a higher quality food that suits his animals needs. No one is forcing him to buy bag after bag. To begrudge wellness yet support petco? The majority of the food petco stocks is over processe, expensive, low quality foods. @mudester, you are mistaken about "meal". As long as you know the source of the meal you can gauge the quality. For example "poultry by produc

  • FAKE AND GAY.

  • why would he fake this video? even if he did just look at ingredient, its total shit. chicken meal, that means it could contain the 4D(Dead, dying,Diseased, disabled). Do you want your dog or cats eating that shit?

  • you need to switch to old roy the best dog food in the world

  • Fake!! wouldn't those little pieces of bones be at the bottom of the bag not at the very top? Who are you trying to fool?

  • ROFL. 1:35 "Like razor blades." If it was a problem, it would have been recalled a long time ago. Wonder which competitor paid for this vid.

  • I use to use that same flavor of Wellness and NEVER saw any bones like those in the food.

  • My friend emailed wellness about this and apparently this guy tried to sell this video to wellness and they declinded because it's clearly false, and so he put it on youtube.

  • um... dogs eat bones! Cooked bones can be a problem but unless you were feeding a gerbil, these bones would not do any damage! Nevermind this is totally fake. I fed wellness core for 2 years before switching to raw and never saw anything like that. If I were to go back to kibble it would likely be Wellness since many of the other 'quality' brands have now been bought out by Major conglomerates like Colgate-palmolive.

  • Hmm, let me see- I'll believe a guy who can lie through his nose, or I can feed my cat natural things instead of crap. Animal digest- heard of it? Hmm- what about corn, wheat and soy, meat-by products or red 40 . So- I'll risk getting my cat ill and believe this guy. People, please don't be gulable. Besides, Welness isn't the only pet food out there. EVO, Fromm. Oh boo-hoo, little fish bone- its not the ONLY brand. Yes, and cut your finger to show us the pain and sacrafice.

  • why didnt you write in to a local newspaper or media? They would have recalled if this was wide spread. I'm having a hard time believing this.

  • Also, how would you find "hair" in a fish formula? I'm curious.

I've seen hair in SOME dog food. (mainly cheaper ones) But they're never fish based, and are always chicken, venison, etc. based. Or just "meat meal" or "meat by-products". o_O ... Fish have hair now?

  • I'm calling fake on this one. Not all of the kibbles even look like Wellness.

  • This is pretty much slander. The food scoop is clearly not empty when dipped in the bag and the kibble used as an example was out of the bag all along.

Wellness is one of the few companies that goes way above and beyond the regulations that govern pet food.

  • LOL this video is so fake. Totally over did it with " I also keep finding strands of hair in the food, I have to examine each individual piece of food before I can feed my dog" I've also fed Wellness to my dog and have never found ANYTHING like this.

  • @CaneCorsoLuvr

Cane Corso is one expensive dog to be feeding razor sharp bones to, better switch to a low-grade chemical barring food immediately!

Lol jk, I am all about Wellness large breed.

  • haha! You cut yourself! You deserve it cuz this video is FAKE!!! LOL LOL

  • @sarabazzar that's interesting that you defend commercial dog food (claiming you've tried HUNDREDS) when you yourself said in a previous post that human food is the best choice for your animals. seems like a bit of hypocrisy here...

  • "De-boned" fish is almost an oxymoron, as it's almost impossible to remove EVERY bone from any piece of fish. That's why, when I was a kid, my Mom always had bread on the table when we ate "filleted" fish - in case we swallowed a fish bone, the bread would help push it on through. Worked every time...

  • @sarabazzar as i have said countless times, owners need to check their pet's bags of Wellness and decide for themselves. no matter how many times you say the accusation is wrong wrong wrong it doesn't matter. people need to decide for themselves.

  • @parisa319 then i guess you don't care. No dog food i have ever saw had a HAZORD IN IT! i feed my dog every sort of dog food in this usa. So you answered and answered wrong sorry but its true (:P

  • oh plz. my dog eats bones and real human food and she is ALIVE. OH BTW. EC2DESIGHN is right! you big faker. i think im sticking with human food for my dog cause she is SUPER healthy its not a health hazord by the way thats a myth! so instead of useing a fake commerial detail prouduct use REAL HEALTHY FOOD! and so stupid to trick us so lol delete this vid plz cause its fake.

  • @Sarabazzar even though human bones arent good for dogs i did one time give pepsie a chicken bone(i know I'm bad I will never do it again) and when i turned my back and turned back to look at her half of the chicken bone was gone!!! i searched everywhere for the other half then realized pepsie ate the other half but what do you know she is 3 years old and healthy!

  • @deathstarlover Whatever Did i mention my cat who is probully maybe 7 years old or 4 maybe also eats human food. Only tunaaaa.

  • @Sarabazzar hmm... maybe you are an idiot like the rest. If your cat only ate tuna, it would be dead. Tuna has traces of mercury(not the planet see i have to point that out to you cuz your so stupid) which is toxic to cats dogs even humans and if ingested to often it could cause serious problems and don't you reply back to this message because you are soo annoying if ya do i will make you shut the fuck up

  • @deathstarlover You forgot to mention that cats lack the ability to create Taurine. Tuna (and many other fishes) do not contain Taurine which enables them to see. Also because most are shredded into pieces it creates more space for bacteria to grow. That and a 10lb cat would need around 250 - 300 calories a day... Thats about 6oz of tuna! And of course those tuna cans are inclusive of water/oil so that would be probably 3 or 4 cans of tuna a day. Talk about mercury overload!

  • @deathstarlover hmm al right. SHE DOES NOT ONLY EAT TUNA! she eats REAL cat food. and btw i am shuting up. just like you should

  • @deathstarlover thank you very much for your rude comment. I understand this video is hyper-sensationalized especially when he cuts himself with the bones. There IS truth in this video. It is not a "scam". I strongly suggest you dig through an entire bag of Wellness. You'll be surprised what you find. I DID find bones that were big enough to have killed my cats. Grow up and don't waste your time trashing people's thoughts on here.

  • @parisa319 im sorry he/she but your wrong. The REAL truth is what i and others said.plus human food is much better i have been feeding it to my pets for years and they almost never got sick only when they eat cat food (my dog lol) \... But its TRUE this video is FAKE! sorry but look at 0:58 pause see it. you see it was fake right away!

  • @parisa319 look, I searched through my dog's kibble never found white bones and BTW Wellness has never been recalled and never will

but I do say that this is an opinion look most people say they dont see any a very small protion of people do but i dont see anything and i keep my vitamin A up

  • LOL!!! Pause at exactly 0:58 You can see a kibble NOT from the bag was already placed on the table...he used that as a demonstration...this video is so fake...

    GET A LIFE!!!

  • @EC2DESIGN haha I see it! This video is bullshit dont you agree?

  • @EC2DESIGN yes I see what your talking about at 0:58 but how do you explain the other pieces of food that he scooped out of the bag that have noticably white piece in them ? Those other pieces that were already on the table were obviously from a previous bag, not trying to start an argument just stating what I see.

  • Just change to raw food - there are so many benefits and you know every time what you are feeding! That's my opinion...

  • this video is bullshit! Wellness is one of the best foods out there and if they DID get a shitty complaint like this they would change it IMMEDIETLY because they are one of the best pet food companie out there

  • I don't think this video is a scam. I just poured my cat a bowl of her Wellness food and saw a long bone sticking out of a piece. I broke apart many other pieces and discovered more bones. Check your pet's food!

  • @parisa319 you obviousy dont know what a scam is

  • Yeah definitely a shill. Myself a few friends purchase wellness and have never had this happen. You failed to show an empty measuring cup before scooping it out which leads you to the conclusion that you already had the bones in the cup before scooping. Nice try though!

  • thank you for your video it will help many other pet lovers. i hope ur cut is ok, it looks very scary getting cut by pet food.

  • LMAO, I've opened HUNDREDS of bags of wellness and never saw anything like this. He never shows the back of the bag hasn't been cut open nor that the scoop was empty when dipped in. Hadley up to any scientific or logical standards. Besides, it would be on real media as well, not just youtube youfools lol

  • This guy is NOT Lying! When I first saw this video months back I thought this was crazy as I had bought my cat Wellness food for 2yrs.Then 2 days ago when I scooped out some from a newly bought bag I noticed a SHARP fish bone sticking straight through the kibble & longer than the kibble & there was lots in the bag.Very mad I called the company & the lady said to throw it out that most animals chew it up anyways & that she would send some coupons. Are you kidding $32 food & no concern for animals

  • This video is stupid... at least his "evidence" is. There is no way that he could have scooped those fragments off of the top of the bag with his first scoop. Those loose fragments would have settled to the bottom of the bag. I think this video is fake.

  • I feed my dogs whole eggs, shell and all, its not harmful. The shell is actually good for them. Just had to mention that...this video is pretty upsetting though.

  • is this a joke?? Wellness is one of the best dog foods out there! I feed my dog that and have NEVER seen tiny pieces of fish bone NOR hair strands in there. I just poured out some from the bag and examined it carefully and did not find even one piece of fish bone.

  • i just checked about 300 pieces of wellness puppy food and it's perfectly fine... this is stupid... at least there is no taurine and wheat gluten and corn and rice products that are found in Royal canin and molson kick beer!!!

  • I eat cooked fish bones all the time when I catch trout too small to fillet and have to cook them whole. Fish bones are much softer than most animal bones and if a human like me can chew them up and swallow with no problem then a carnivorous dog who is equipped by nature to eat raw mean and bones should have no problem. Also wellness is one of the few brands that derives their food from quality meat sources with added nutrients such as lycopene from tomatoes, and omega fatty acids from fish.

  • @massiemassacre hello do your homework dogs can not chew they can crunch with

back teeth but can not chew and don't chew food!

  • Giving your dogs whole eggs is fine, don't be so stupid that you can't even research what you're talking about. The shell has calcium and breaks down in the dogs stomach. There's nothing wrong with feeding whole eggs. I don't trust a single word you say

  • This video is clearly, not that of the home made kind. I bet you were paid off by or work for a lousy pet food company like kibbles N bits or any of those grocery store brands that are full of fillers, dyes and low grade grains & corn that's not even fit for human consumption, let alone animal consumption. Stop hating on a good product!

  • @boomboxlove8 Um I don't think the guy is making it up. Most people don't inspect their pets food so you probably wouldn't notice. If you go to google and type wellness pet food bones, you will actually see other websites talking about the bones and other people commenting on finding bones in their pets food. One lady had a dog in the hospital because it.

  • @xxviciousbeautyxx Exactly!

  • From the time the guy used the scissors to cut open the Wellness dog food, scooped the dog food, and then placed the food on the table, we can see there is no splicing or editing of the video... and we can clearly see the bones. Thanks, for the heads-up!

  • Comment removed

  • I will also add that I on occasions feed my dogs raw chicken neck, raw turkey necls with the bones and they chew that up with no problems, so if you find a bit of bone in there that small I wouldn't worry, dogs stomach enzymes will take care of the bones.

  • I am going to make another post here as a preemptive strike. I know people will be making comments negatively to what I posted below. All I can say is I am a huge skeptic also. But I did look and I did find very small sharp pieces coming from some of the kibble. It is very hard to detect so if you really want to know you have to take the time to look CAREFULLY. If you do find pieces please do post it so that others know that we are experiencing the same. I know we all love our pets.

  • Sorry people. I did not believe the video so I dumped my dogs bag of food on the counter and in the Wellness chicken I found small fragments in some of the kibble. It is hard to spot so you have to be very diligent. But something was poking up from the kibble. I cannot say it is bone. All I can say is it is sharp and it is not something I want my small yorkies to deal with just in case it could hurt them. My vets office says this is not something I should feed my dogs.

  • @consumerwoman

I used to be an advocate for Wellness Core before my 6 yr. old Female Vizsla died of lympho sarcoma cancer. The Wellness Core did not help her situation. After 100's of hours of research, I found that ALL dog food is basically "crap in a sack". I can link you to some articles showing you what is REALLY in dog food and it would probably make you sick to your stomach. Please feel free to look at my video on the Prey Diet and see what you think.

    seeya, Rusty

  • This looks like complete bullshit. I saw it for the first time A YEAR ago, and ever since then I have thoroughly investigated every time I bought a bag of Wellness or Wellness CORE dry food. I never once found anything like this in the food. This video looks like a fraud to me.

  • @Ryan9145X

Ryan that's what I thught. This video may indeed be a fraud but go back and check again. I did indeed find small bone like fragments protruding from some of the kibble. It is hard to detect but if you are diligent you may also find it. I found it in the chicken based product.

  • I'm actually not surprised that a store like Petco carries this brand... general rule of thumb is that the bigger the retailer, the less it can be trusted. Check Peta's investigative work on how Petco treats its pets.

  • @pauxecide >So please just because you are in vet school means nothing,, if that is what they are teaching students now,,, then God help our pets in the Future!! I know of NO,Not even RAW diet that Promotes feeding Fish or chicken bones, They Splinter and can choke People and Pets!!! Please use common sense.

  • @doodlesville Wow, can you please stop throwing a fit, you sound like such a baby with all your exclamation marks and capitalizing. And I don't know of any RAW sites or books that -don't- promote feeding chicken bones. I don't know if you've ever fed raw, but I have. The idea is to feed them food that they would naturally find in the wild. Also, vet techs don't learn anything about animal nutrition in school or in the field. Their job is to assist the vet, not make real decisions.

  • @pauxecide

I'm a LVT, and I actually had to take a course on nutrition while in school. And while we do assist the vet, we definitely make real decisions as well.

  • First off, Dogs should NEVER eat fish or chicken bones, ANY bone that is brittle!!!

Vets advise this anyone in the dog industry KNOWS this!!! All the misinformation on the comments here is very scary!! I recommend calling your vet and asking them about giving your dogs fish bones or chicken bones, get the TRUTH from your respected vet professional, the Potential for Injury to YOU or a dog from eating or swallowing bones is very real..Think bout it!!Why dont you go eat it and see what happens

  • @doodlesville I'm actually in vet school and I will hopefully end up with a specialty in animal nutrition. Dogs CAN eat bones, it's a natural part of a wolf's diet and the dog is designed to eat the same type of diet. My dog crunches up and eats raw chicken wings multiple times each week. There are are a lot of vital nutrients in bones that you can't find in muscle meat alone. Sorry but I think you are the one that is misinformed.

  • Comment removed

  • @pauxecide

Actually, despite of the dog's history in the wild, you should never feed them small, brittle bones regardless of where they come from. This doesn't mean that they can't eat bone... but imagine a wild dog catching its prey. This would most likely be a large animal with large bones that can be gnawed on. Not tiny little bones that some dogs may just swallow whole. This could yield dangerous results!

  • @bakaga86 Actually feeding bones is a regular part of the raw diet. Raw bones (including chicken bones) aren't necessarily brittle, they are just capable of being broken down if enough force is exerted. They are not brittle like cooked chicken bones are. Also, gnawing a bone isn't enough. In order to get the full benefits of the nutrients within the bones, the bones must be eaten. This is a very well accepted fact from the RAW feeding community.

  • @pauxecide

I thought we were speaking of cooked bones..? Perhaps I wasn't clear enough when I said "... that doesn't necessarily mean that [dogs] can't eat bone". In the context of COOKED bone, NO it should NOT be fed to dogs as it becomes brittle, may splinter off and puncture the animal's stomach/intestines. Raw bones are a much better option.

  • Hahaha what a moron!!! I use wellness Large breed Super5mix on all my dogs and they couldn't be Healthier!...Period, this guy is full of it!!!

  • I have to comment on your remarks. If you spend that much money on Wellness for large breed dogs you must truly care about them or you would be feeding them the generic garbage. But I can honestly say to you I did find something in the food when I check my own pets bag of food. It is very hard to see so you have to look carefully and you may, like I did, find some kibble with objects that are poking out of it. I have to say they are hard to see so you have to really be looking.

  • I know he(and many others) feel there is a legitimate concern with this I disagree with his assessment.

Dogs and cats are primarily carnivores. They do consume things like berries and such but meat is the main staple of their diet. This is why a raw fed, prey model diet is becoming increasingly popular among owners. Dogs are built to consume meat, chew and even consume bone. Sure there are bones you should watch out for but in my professional opinion all the bone hyped is overplayed.

  • 5/9/10 - I might add both my dogs got diarreah from the bones before I figured out the cause. They were sick for a few days. Took them to the Vet and found no parasites. I could have pierced my finger had I pressed on the bones. I'd hate to think what could have happened if they ingested the kibble. I was about half way through the bag before I discovered the bones.

  • I had the same problem feeding Orijen. The bones weren't being separated. The company had no visible warning on their website, no recalls. Thanks to the poster of this video. I have no doubt you found bones. Do you really feel your pet is safe with the food you are presently feeding. Do you know which companies preserve fish meals with ethoxyquin. Who's Your Vet has websites to help.

  • 05/07/10 - You've got to be kidding me! I have been using ONLY this product for years - as I have allergic Westies and have NEVER seen anything like this video shows! Gimme a break.

He must have cut into the back of the bag and placed these tainted pieces in it - you notice he never moves the bag around - only cuts it open.

I guess my question is - why the hell does he keep feeding it to his dog if he thinks it will cut the dogs's throat! It took his vet to tell him to change???

  • WTF stop removing my comments! I WORK AT A PET STORE (NOT THE ONES IN THE VIDEOS) AND MY COMMENTS KEEP GETTING REMOVED OR DISAPPEAR!!!

  • The facts are as follows>

~ I work for a reputable pet retailer, NOT petco or petsmart (or whatever has been stated in the youtube videos).

~ I have IN FACT done many returns on items ranging from your basic grocery store type foods all the way up to the human grade ingredient/hollistic(all natural) foods.

  • ~Every company has problems with their products (big or small)

~This event has not hit the region i work in, nor any other that the company I work for has stores in.

~I have personally handled Wellness cat and dog food, including fish, on a regular basis, both in and out of the packaging.

~I do not feed wellness to my animals

  • ~I have handled returned wellness, there were NO bones, at all, period on at least two occasions.

~My manager spoke to a woman yesterday, for over 20 minutes, because this video scared her.

~I net $0 income from direct sales of wellness products.

  • I would hope anyone who did indeed have/observe problems with any pet food retailer would not take it lightly, and report it right away to the company(that produced the food!). REPORT IT DIRECTLY...with the batch/SKU/expiration date/ place and time of purchase of product.

  • There is no conspiracy here, the pet food industry takes these matters very seriously and implements product control very well in most cases.

  • Be wary of what is on the net, and also what a company is trying to sell you. 70superbee383 would tell you to take everything with a grain of salt! LOL (I'm almost pos. she works with me by her name on here)

  • this video seems like slander to me, DON'T REMOVE THIS COMMENT PLEASE!...<That is the only opinion I will state (i promise!) I'm going to tell you some things, this is a lil long...in multiple comments...

  • Please check your cat food! I went through my bag of Wellness and that ish was in my cat's food. I never would have noticed it if I didn't see this video, and yes the bones are hard and sharp enough to break skin. Even if you have never had problems with Wellness just be aware so that if you do happen to get a bad batch you'll notice it.

  • LOL. There are 52 thumbs down. Are people just that stupid? They believe in commercial products so much and fall for their advertising so blindly that they put their own pet at risk because they choose to discard warnings like this. Wellness is crap. They don't even use all Human Grade ingredients. Why? They claim their food is good and healthy but why use ingredients that are not fit for human consumption?

  • Continued: However, I did not leave it at that... I persevered in my questioning and got another email from Wellness, one where the employee actually admitted to bones in this food but claimed that the vet they consult with said it is not dangerous. Well... I don't know what cereal box that vet got his license from., but... no cooked bones are safe.

  • This video is actual fact. I emailed the wellness company. At first one of the people at Wellness gave me a generic email reply stating that this person asked them to buy this video.

  • Make no bones about it!

  • why would u buy a big bag for a video?? anyways i will never buy this now

  • I have to say that I switched to organic Wellness Senior because our other holistic dog food became harder to find. One year later and big vet bills later, it was determined by my vet that my dog was not processing this senior dog food very well, and it was ultimately raising her liver enzymes to dangerous levels. I'm going to go back to our old dog food, Innova, even though it is tough to find. I will just order it online or do the drive rather than put my dog through such discomfort again.

  • He's not trying to pull one over on anyone.......All processed dog foods are "killing" your dog. Check out the "raw prey diet"...It's cheaper and your dogs will LOOOVeee you for it...My 13 yr old vizsla is out chasing squirrels like he was a puppy and there isn't any poop in the yard......

Think about it...what does a dog eat in the wild? That's what you need to be feeding them.....They CAN eat chicken bones with no problem...and pork bones, and turkey and beef, rabbitt, rat...etc....

  • @rustywhite1 you dog doesnt shit/

  • @rustywhite1

    I agree!

  • Anybody else notice that he picks up a piece of food off the counter that was sitting there before he dumped out the scoop? He also doesn't show that the scoop is empty before dipping into the bag. We've been feeding our dogs Wellness dog food for years and still think it's the best. We have never seen a bone in their food.

  • @evolnej

Stay in denial all you want. Just because YOU haven't been open enough to examine your dog's commercial food, doesn't mean that other pet owners haven't made keen observations.

  • I heard about this hoax - that the guy tried to sell the video to Wellness and then when they declined, he posted it on YouTube. I can't find any official statement, but if I were Wellness I wouldn't necessarily respond either and end up bringing more attention to one guy on the internet. We've fed Wellness for a long time with great results, so I am not inclined to worry about it without more evidence.

  • thank you for telling me about wellness pet food. I will tell anyone who has a dog that I know to not feed their dog with that horrible brand!

  • oh wow i cannot belive this! i would never feed my dog such a horrible brand that can hurt him or worse!

  • Wow thank you for showing us!! You proved it. Good demonstrations of how sharp the bones are. I had no idea that they would be that sharp. The maker of Wellness should be ashamed and it is too bad that all kibble cannot be trusted, even the ones that claim to be super premium. :(

  • Is your dog haveing problems or something? my dog eats wellness every day with no problems. This guy is a fearmongering nuerotic with way too much time on his hands. watch other videos.

  • Well, don't just take his word for it. He has brought a legitimate concern and anyone can open up a bag of Wellness and test it for themselves.

  • When people say, "the devil's in the detail", they mean that small things in plans and schemes that are often overlooked can cause serious problems later on. We need more people like this guy in manufacturing doing quality control inspections. I'm going to try Halo and Blue Buffalo Dog Food now.

  • thanks for posting this, ill be investigating my 30lb bag of wellness I was recommended to buy. I would also like to note they add green tea extract. Which despite being a good anti oxidant contains caffeine. I myself, as a human, dont ingest caffeine because it is unhealthy...

  • .... I have seen my cats eat entire rodents, except for the head and select internal organs- bones and all. I watched our German Shepard snatch a gopher from our cat and eat it whole! ... No problems with our animals. Remember the scene in "GiGi" where she eats the little bird.. bones and all. Granted they might be cooked which makes a difference. I've seen animals eat bones which seems a natural thing however, you seem to make a semi valid point about the esophagus.. is it possible?

  • A lot of you are idiots and know nothing about how Wellness is made. First of all, the cat food most of the time has ZERO bones. Nada. All kibble is safe-tested before put in bags by some company, it's on the wellnesspetfood Twitter. If you're so worried about this type of stuff, pick out the bones or use vegetarian pet food.

  • @CITGProductions u work their of course your gonna say that stop that crap

  • I don't work at Wellness. I'm just using all the information I've been given.
