  • one of my favorite musicians playing one of my favorite songs on one of my favorite shows hosted by one of my favorite comedians. holy cow, this is orgasmic.

  • every time i watch his live performances, i cry. i'm saddened by the fact that i will never get to experience his music live with him ever. so deeply, utterly and wholly sad.

  • Elliott Smith look really short next to Conan O'Brien

  • @simsoline he looks like a little boy-so cute.

  • Ahh Conan was talking to Elliott and we'll never know what they talking about. Why?!

  • to think that Jack Black got that close to him.

  • That Drummer REALLY looks like Bruce Springstien

  • I would've loved to have been there when Conan and Elliot were discussing which song he should play.

Conan: so we're kind of an up beat fun, silly sort of show.

    Elliot: Uh-huh, right

C: So I was wondering, like, do have any songs that aren't about pain, or suicide or getting on high on heroine?

    E: Uh...no, no, not really.

C: Uh, ok. Well do you have anything with like an up beat melody? Something you tap your foot to?

E: *thinks* Son of Sam, I guess.

    C: Ooookkkayyyy.

  • @eleutheromaniac You're a dumbass, that's not how music is selected to be played for talk shows... he played Son of Sam to promote Figure 8. That's the reason artists play on talk shows, to sell their records.

  • @dradfromthebu LOL. oh wow. priceless. where else but youtube?

  • @eleutheromaniac You started it, douchebag.

  • @eleutheromaniac First of all, Elliott didn't write about negative subjects all the time...and second; artists go on talk shows to promote their album through playing singles. Son of Sam was a single off of Figure 8.

  • Fireglo 4001 for President.

  • And then out of nowhere, Jack Black.

  • So weird how this was ELEVEN years ago. How things have changed

  • @JULIAtalk yeah it's amazing how the time has passed, it's just a wonderful thing how clear Elliott's influence is on modern indie music. He was truly a saint, and I'm sure he will never be forgotten.

  • @JULIAtalk How we all miss him.

  • @JULIAtalk Conan hasn't aged a damn day though...

  • @JULIAtalk

Even weirder is how in just about a year it will have been a decade since he passed. :(

  • he's so small :}

    like me

  • @Stillillgal Actually Conan is a giant. He makes anyone look small.

  • that bass player was only 'quasi' evil.

  • The play between Elliott's guitar and the piano gets is so dead on and beautiful on this.
