  • so many kinds of accent mixed=_= BTW, what is ask-ked!?

  • Excuse me, but why are so many people trying to degrade this young man?

I think China and the world need a lot more ppl like him, instead of corrupted, or arrogant people who tend to raise themselves by lowering others

  • I suspect that this guy is not a local student who studies English as his/her foreign language.

  • China should examine the INTANGIBLE wall.

  • There is a WALL greater then the Great Wall in China that is in your mind. You don't need any bridge to come cross if you can find the WALL.

  • niubility!

  • niubility!

  • This is really good coz he learned all that from china

  • There are guys in china speak better than him...

In western world, it's a fail english...

  • excellent

  • excellent

  • Excellent job!

要是閉著眼睛看,一聽就知道不是native speaker...well, honestly, we have better speakers that are way younger than him...every year

  • @joe83830 Hey,guy, I have to inform you that English public speaking is more that just pronounciation, it's also about the speaker's pace, tone, passion, gestures, appearacne and a lot of other elements. The aim of this competition is to select competitive public speaker, not BBC or CNN broadcaster.

  • @mql622 and english is his second language

  • he must have practiced this topic a lot, i wanna listen what he speaks randomly

  • The Great Firewall of China

    hahaha

  • yes, a mixture of British, American and Chinese accents.

  • You will be super bored after listening to him for 10 secs

    Poor man, stop reciting

  • He looks so confident !!

    He is my role model!!

  • His has a slight accent but there are times he sounds like a native without a trace of an accent. Excellent job!!!

  • obviously he spoke with the American accent, personally thinking tat cetain words he doesnt need to stress much on the end sound.

    classmate was typical British.

  • what's the point of posting this video on youtube?

  • @ChenJunHung personally, i am grateful for these kinds of videos being posted on youtube. it gives us (meaning the world) a glimpse of another person's life and events that are happening around us which we would otherwise not see. it was a very informative speech about the way chinese view their role and position in the world today and how we can all better understand one other in the future. obviously u missed all that! haha great speech by the way

  • nice accent

  • he does speak quite good, but I think any chinese student who have studied abroad for a few year could do the same thing.

by the way, his english does comes together with some british, american and chinese accents.

  • hi ,Tenth 21st Century Cup.SFLEP Cup National English Speaking Competition is one of the most representative english speaking competition in china.Candidates who have studied abroad will not allow to attend the competition.

  • @cwcwilson You are exaggerating. Any Chinese student who have studied abroad for a few years? Why not come oversea and take a look yourself. I can safely say he would be among the top 5% in terms of pronunciation as well as language prowess among oversea Chinese students.

And just a quick reminder for those who pick on his pronunciation...the title of this video clearly shows it was English Contest, not English Speech Contest.

  • @cwcwilson

"any" Chinese student who has studied abroad? I disagree. There are countless Chinese students who have been in America for 5 years or more, and still don't sound nearly as good as this guy!

  • @cwcwilson with all due respect, most of them can't. lol

  • such brilliant

  • yea i can hear some british and american asset along with a few chinese accent here n there, but hey, the guy's in china man... this is like godly standard to most of them

  • he speaks like a native! amazing!

  • very good

  • Your country is building the Great Firewall of China

  • it's already good enough for foreign speakers...we can't compare them with natives...

  • i think he speaks quite good. don't be too harsh

  • He talks like Bush! WTF!

  • it's quite ok...

not bad, but not super good either.

  • SIMON,YOU DID A GOOD JOB!

  • come on .

it's american english for god's sake

  • it's not Australian... = ="

  • =.= noise pollution

  • I think he did very well....

and for those critical please go to you room and try to read something aloud to see if you can be better them him.

  • @skepticismjoe Sure! U are absolutely right! I support your idea firmly!!

  • where is the champion?

  • Great!

  • I think that he did it well!

  • any traslated version of it?

  • why y guys being so offensive,i think he is doing well, isn't he?i dare so not so many chinese could speak english that brilliant!

  • gross

  • are you better than him?

  • My mistake, "You don't even make sense, so just shut the fuck up. "

was aimed at lignerosetlove, who said

    "u dum appcoke:

go to the hell asap! "

  • If I went to that competition, I would do just as go as him, if not better. I don't have a perfect American accent, but I have a pure Australian accent. To me, competitions in speaking isn't tempting at all, it would be like competing something so ordinary that it wouldn't even make me proud if I won.

  • Australian accent?

    are you fuckin kiddin me?

they aint speakin English up dere

how dare you call you got a accent

just some shitty chinglish, dont tryn to be cocky on youtube, just respond wit some real video if you can, and it dont make any sense to get high wit sayin these

    get a life

  • Watch the grammar mate, I got lost in what you were trying to say.

Maybe it wasn't me who is lost, nobody knows what the fuck you are talking about. Learn to spell, man.

Yeah, I just happen to have the fucking gut to say that I have an Australian accent. Australian is my nationality, what are you going to do about that? Tell me to get a life again?

  • I gotta watch my grammar on Youtube?

that's the funniest shit Ive ever heard

okey, you just find the perfect job for yrself

bein a teacher in the grade skool would definitly make you feel so ture orgasm, dont ya?

get a life, bitch-ass Austalian lame cock sucker

  • Thank for the compliment, looks like you are the one who should get a life now. I could say some random shit and make it the funniest thing you've ever heard? You are one sad piece of shit.

Yeah, I could be a great teacher teaching five year olds how to talk, and you're gonna be in my class, I'll make sure you get extra homework from me. Be prepared to work your little ass off.

  • You know ! He(Xia Peng) was also the overall champion of the ESU International Public Speaking Competition in 2005 which is the most representative english speaking competition in the world. There were 55 representatives from nearly 40 countries at the competition.

  • as a chinese student. he did set a good example for us to follow.dont oyu think he is kind of hypocrisy? would you imagine aomeone in the usa speaking like that? he is putting so much emotion in it.

  • He focused too much on the "end-sound" of words that ends with "ed", "lt", "st" etc..

    His accent is typically American.

Good intonations though, I would give him a B+ for a non-native English speaker.

  • not bad for non-native

  • The pronunciation and accents is a little bit strange.

  • i am really envious of him..i hope one day i can speak as well as he does too.

  • very clear

  • voice too loud, accent like a dum chinese

  • u dum appcoke:

    go to the hell asap!

  • You don't even make sense, so just shut the fuck up.
