From the mid '90's to the mid 2000's, in F-1, Michael Schumacher was one of the most selfish and dirtiest players in the sport, with slave team-mates and even intentionally crashed out competitors (successfully on one occasion) to take the World Championship, yet to this day, the media and fan base still fall at his feet as though he was the most pure to ever compete.
Look at the reaction times. That alone pretty much shows it was a setup. Hight had to make sure he didn't red light and John was flat out asleep as well. This sport as well as all other are run by the corporations not the paid puppets driving and working on the cars. Like everything else it revolves around money.

John force has won 15 championships, I believe? This guy is a god at driving a race car.
So in the semi-finals, at the biggest race of the year, with a godly crew-chief, driving in an era with highly tested aerodynamic bodies, against his team car, he cuts the worst reaction time of his career, gets out of the groove before the 60 foot mark, and pedals it before the car even goes up in smoke.
John Force makes it what it is. Maybe at the US Nationals, they shouldn't leave a team race to last. If team races were put as priority, they would both race for the win. And Pedregon was on the losing end of it, no doubt if it was him and his brother, they would do exactly the same.
I know this has gotten pretty old but if you go back to Tony Pedregon's first win when he was with team Force he wasn't so much then when Force clearly gave him his first win. No one has ever been accused of cheating for tapping out.
in a team sport you do what you have to do for a team win. I do have to say if it is in the rules that you can not intentionaly loose then yes the rules have to be followed and enFORCEd. i was still glad it messed up the pedraGOONS brothers. they are just not any type of ambassadors for that sport. All I know is what I saw and I like John. I saw John and Tony in the finals in Pomona when they were teammates. At the start line, John lifts the body, gets out, yells at Coil, gets back in the car. Coil talks to Tony's team, and all of the sudden Tony shuts down and Force idles down the track for the win. I thought it was a bullshit win.
Pedregon is a cry baby, if he wants to race he should focus on getting in the top ten more then just by the skin of his teeth. You cant make money in this sport by paving the way with a red carpet for your competitors.

I used to be a John Force Fan. But he clearly laid down so that his son in law Robert could advance knocking out Cruz Pedregon. What John did was illegal under the NHRA rules... John Force is a winner and people hate him for it. You don't get to his level by not being the best.
Upon inspection of Forces car in the pits after he laid down for his son in law, there was no apparent problems. Even the announcers, including Mike Dunn all stated they thought Force laid down. We all know he did. His throttle cable broke on the race with Ashley in the 10 finals.... we saw that. But he could not explain to anyone including the NHRA why his car moved right.... after it had been on a straight hookup all day. I drove funny cars, I know how they move and handle.

Anyone who purposely throws a race has taken the spirit of racing out of it. Officials should have explained that to the Force team. Penalties should be given when it is obvious that a person throws a race. If the Force team had gone out, but tried hard to win and lost thats different. The car plainly was driven to the right after a very weak start. Points should be deducted when that happens. You are there to race, then race or go home.

Blockers were always the argument against multi-car teams. Corporations dictated the outcome of this race, John did what he had to do for his sponsors, and for the promotion of the Force legacy Ashley, but not what is best for the fans! I still cheer for the underdog's. It was classy when Del Worsham raced his teammate a few years back, It proved to be a critical loss for Del though, May have led to the demise of there team. Where would they be now if Del had won?

Bottom line. Cheating is illegally modifying your car ect. to win a race. Taking a Poor lane with lane choice, to benefit another team mate is business, thats what TEAMS do. If he purposely smoked his tires, and took the loss, thats noones business but theirs. How is it any different than an NBA player on the verge of a record, and teammates passing off to him to try and get his last few point to get the record? John Force is a legend. I used to be a John Force Fan. But he clearly laid down so that his son in law Robert could advance knocking out Cruz Pedregon. What John did was illegal under the NHRA rules... John's excuse was he has to report to his sponsors and he will do whatever it takes to get his cars to the finals for the sponsors.... even if you cheat John. Garlits, Prudhomme, and Bernstein would never lay down... you cheapen the sport when you cheat. I drove the "Monster Mustang FC from Detroit, from 69-73.

I don't buy it and neither do millions of others. NHRA knew he threw the race, everyone did. It was obvious. But how could you proove it? Ever see Garlits, or Prudhomme lay down? @jhowej3 Dude, drag racing is unpredictable...If you are a drag racer, you know that...You can hook up perfectly all day then have a run where things go wrong...For instance, he faced his daughter last night in the finals @ the US nationals...It "looked" like he just let her win on purpose as his car just quit...However, after further inspection, he broke a throttle cable! John Force is a winner and people hate him for it. You don't get to his level by not being the best.

Upon inspection of Forces car in the pits after he laid down for his son in law, there was no apparent problems. Even the announcers, including Mike Dunn all stated they thought Force laid down. We all know he did. His throttle cable broke on the race with Ashley in the 10 finals.... we saw that. But he could not explain to anyone including the NHRA why his car moved right.... after it had been on a straight hookup all day. I drove funny cars, I know how they move and handle.

Anyone who purposely throws a race has taken the spirit of racing out of it. Officials should have explained that to the Force team. Penalties should be given when it is obvious that a person throws a race. If the Force team had gone out, but tried hard to win and lost thats different. The car plainly was driven to the right after a very weak start. Points should be deducted when that happens. You are there to race, then race or go home.

I am a big NHRA fan and with the top ten count down and race teams with multible cars you are going to see more of this crap in years to come. the top ten count down is bullshit and should go back to how it was. Blockers were always the argument against multi-car teams. Corporations dictated the outcome of this race, John did what he had to do for his sponsors, and for the promotion of the Force legacy Ashley, but not what is best for the fans! I still cheer for the underdog's. It was classy when Del Worsham raced his teammate a few years back, It proved to be a critical loss for Del though, May have led to the demise of there team. Where would they be now if Del had won?

It's funny no one really complained when Kurt Johnson use to back off when he ran his dad, when WJ was doing better than Kurt in the points.
