  • Three words YOU ARE AWSOME!!!

  • When I get older I want to have a son like that.

  • Freddie shows great promise - well done, Dad. My only note of caution would be that he does not overuse his arm, and underuse his body. Looking at the video, this may well be because he's learning from Dad, who certainly has an (unusually) static body technique during forehands (notwithstanding the injury). Just make sure he watches plenty of Ma Long to ensure he knows that power comes from legs, hips, back, shoulder, elbow and wrist in one efficient, smooth motion! Anyway, great to see.

  • wow! awesome!

  • lol... when i was 17, i was just at the level that he is in now. hahaha. He's gonna become a good player if he keeps this up. good job.

  • What would he do if you just began playing no spin close to the table?

Btw he's a very talented young man!

    Best regards from Denmark :D

  • @1237Kristian I can play pretty well with most things, so I often play him with SP, LP and a Hardbat. He usually misses a few at first and then adapts quite quickly. There is a clip on an old vid where I play him with a hardbat and he just loops 5 or 6 in a row until I miss. As with most kids, the thing that he struggles with is where someone chops really heavily and consistently. This will continue to be a problem until he gains more strength and armspeed.

  • my impression is that his elebow is at to close of an angle sometimes when he does the forehand strokes. But that's maby not an issue, definitley not now. Other than that I'm really impressed, my 7 year old is nowhere near this level! Nice job you're doing training a future champion!

  • @flosnd The elbow position is something that we are watching. As you say, it doesn't cause many problems at the moment, but he will probably need to adjust things when he needs more power later on.

  • What is the blade does your son use now?

  • @kitmo123456789 He is using a Stiga Optimum Plus. He starts off with a 'Winner' (AN) handle as it is the thinnest (front to back) and then I shape it into a straight handle so it is small enough for him. Other than that, his blade is the normal size.

  • If u played him a game to 11 full out injury free how many points do u think he would get? You can see his footwork is very good from the first angle.

  • @roryscott1976 Currently he would probably get 3 or 4 points if I was able to consistently serve and open up with max spin without pain. The way I am at the moment I wouldn't be surprised if he started taking the odd game off me before his 9th birthday in April.

It is an awkward situation to be in really, because I need to rest to recover, but Fred needs to knock regularly. I had a week off over Christmas, but it seemed even worse after that, so it obviously needs quite a bit longer.

  • looked like fun -

  • Dont play so many balls so late. Its better when Fred not only plays with a Trainingspartner that plays so many balls in half distance.

And he has to work at his technical skills. His Arm should go more in direction of the ball. The goal of the movement should be in front of his body not only beside him (like Topspin of his Trainingspartner). The movement of the body should support that more (body moves "into" the ball).

  • @martin0815100 Sadly, due to my elbow injury, I can't do so much of the early reaction stuff close in to the table or the big opening loops at the moment. Fred does get lots of practice and coaching from others with different styles though. I just turn up in the videos as it is easier.

  • improve a lot~

    KEEP GOING BOY!
