  • good catch, was this your first muskie? I have lost 2 muskie over the last 4 years, I tried to revive them for over an hour but they still died.

The water temp was 73 degrees and I still dont know why they died because we caught 2 more each time and they released fine and everything was damn near identical

  • If he was fishing for bass he wouldn't have the big lure in the midlife mouth

  • Should hav taken the glove

  • Should have taken the glove

  • Throw the net guy over!

  • guys he was probly going for a bass not this dont you think that if he was going for muskie hed get a bigger net bt no he was expecting bass probly nice catch

  • I caught a huge pike while bass fishing and had the same thing happen. I don't think it reflected on my intelligence level like some may suggest.

Too many negative comments from armchair fisherman, if you love the sport then you should encourage it with positive feedback.

    LOL

  • all of you guys shut the fuck up this guy caught a huge fish probably wasnt expecting it so cut him some slack assholes

  • worst netman ever

  • I hate you haters. That was a great catch!

  • =/ hate to see it happen. but ive had worse experiences. had a 47 incher on. got it to the boat. thought we had it in the net. and brought it up. turns out it wasn't in the net. and flopped into the boat. i didn't know how to hold it. i sat in the water with it in 50 degree weather for 2 hours trying to get it to swim away. bothers me till this day. making sure all the muskies i get don't get harmed. :) happy muskie fishing.

  • I've had the same thing happen to me when I first started Muskie Fishing. That release still troubles me today but I did learn from it. I'm glad you guys did as well, unlike some people out there who still gaff Muskies with now regard to proper handling of the fish. Nice Musky!

  • cymbały he he

  • I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you were targeting another species and caught this by accident. nice fish though, hope it lived.

  • What kind of a fisherman, takes a Tonka Toy Kiddie Fishing Net?

  • that is a nice fish i completly understand when you have never caught a fish with teeth that could easily remove digets lol you are kinda stupified haha nice catch.. I go for these guys in my float tube its hella fun kinda intimidating when somthing that big thrashing around is next to your bare legs ..

  • thats just so wrong. I feel SORRY for the fish.

  • Nice, i dont want to be a prick but this shuld be a "how not to do" video :D

  • Nice muskie. I caught a pike that size but luckily I grabbed it by the gill plates in time before the Super shad Rapala I used fell out.

  • Nice fish! I caught a pike about that size.

  • Well gee @gramsm1....we didn't fall out of the womb with awesome fishing knowledge as I'm sure you did. So we learned from the experience and thought maybe others could learn as well. If dorks like you were in charge of the internet there would only be videos of unicorns and pictures of cats.

  • @pocuscadabara Haha , well said! Thankfully, 9yr olds aren't in charge of the net. lol at unicorns and pictures of cats!!!

  • @pocuscadabara lol indeed. @ gramsm1 wtf is wrong with you.. the title says: how NOT to do it. n00b.

  • @c0rnelis I think everyone knows how not to do it. That's how elementary and high school work, right? "We're not going to tell you what to do, but we CAN tell you what not to do. Good luck!"

  • @pocuscadabara This is awesome!!

  • @gramsm1 ive never used a net..... ever

  • @panzersherek Congratulations! That's....so......awesome.... Do you pick them up by their eye sockets then?

  • when grabbing it don't wait to long. grab it imidiatly !! and watch for it when it starting to open its mouth don't pull to hard beacause when he does that he's about give a big swing with its head, btw, i did not understand what you were doing with the fish..... looked kinda hopeless.... you were giving more damage to the fish then needed.

  • Wow! This is so weird..the EXACT same thing happened to me the other day fishing in the Ottawa River in Canada...Caught a nice musky about the same size as this one and my net was too small for the fish. When I tried to use my hands it was already too late...

  • next time you get one on like that all you half to do is make sure it's hocked good then tern down your drag and scare it let it run some more. and if your going to grab in to keep. grab it at the scruff of the neck in both gills. the trick is you got to get them wipe out

  • get a new net and a new net man and you should land those with ease.

  • why wouldn't you put the head in the net and grab the tail?

  • If you are going to be targeting muskies, please have all the proper equipment. These fish are limited resource.

    -Proper pen style landing net!

    -Bolt cutters for cutting hooks

    -bump board for quick measurement-

    -long nose pliers.

This way you can have a successful release and the fish will be around for all to enjoy

  • get a bigger net or land the fish by hand.

  • wow nice fish!!

  • well i think these guys have no clue and dont no how to land a fish... ever thought about letting the fish tier out 1st... and buy a specimen 42" landing net if ya going for the big ones ....(FOOLS)

  • Yes they are but boy they have some good teeth on them.

  • Its a problem that all newbie musky fisherman have. Just a idiotic mistake, BUy a net

  • Maybe they caught it by accident, god, don't be so judgemental.

  • If you fish at a water where you could catch a fish like that bring a big net. Just something to help protect the fish

  • I agree. Where I fish there are tons of Muskies, and I since I am fishing for pike I am using pretty big lures, and I realllyyy don't want to hook a muskie, because I probably won't be able to properly unhook it. They are still a beautiful fish.

  • i am the opposite of you, all i can catch is pike and i want some muskies

  • ya bro i have caught them while bass fishing. there ugly as hell

  • what a joke... you need to invest in a new net, and a net man....

  • I' not too sure why, but something tells me that that Musky didn't survive that ordeal.......

  • fuckin morons, NEVER EVER try to get anu fish to the net head first, allways tail first and NEVER EVER grab the line with ur hand!!!! its a miracle if u actually got it....

  • Never horse them into the net like that. I'm very surprised it didn't come off.

  • You must buy a bigger net !!! Or else you can hurt the fish !

  • sooo close!

  • lol.bigger net!!!

  • first of all dont net a muskie its just a pain in the ass get a cradle or the best thing ever is the plier type things that you stick in their mouth and it holds on to them

  • that stinks

  • lol get a musky net.

  • sorry curt

  • And why would he have a glove on if they were fishing for bass? Ever seen anyone do that? I dont think so, I do agree with muskiemadness that there guys are stupid.

  • muskymadness, stfu, mabye the wernt fishign for musky and mabye for bass, my dad caught a 42 inch mucky when he was jsut fisshing for walleye and bass

  • Now that's a fish!

  • Yes, a bigger net would be wise for your next muskie excursion.Looks like a decent fish though. Nice job.

  • thats a dead muskie how bout i get a biggr net u idiot

  • That would be great...you must know a lot about musky fishing...because your name is MuskieMadness.

  • this muskie maddness guy is acting like he knows it all about fishing, using all of these negative comments and just rips on everyone. check "57 1/2 inch Muskie" video and look at MuskieMadness's comments.

  • @MuskieMadness huh? why would the muskie be dead, i have never used a net, and always successfully landed and released them, even with my 4 foot muskie,

  • @MuskieMadness you said how about i get a bigger net you idiot? how does that make sense you getting a bigger net wont help him.... noob

  • heh :D

  • I have a feeling that you guys weren't expecting to nail a musky that day based off the size of the net you brought. Oh man...

  • I had a guy try to net my big fish like that, couldn't really tell if he was trying to knock it off or what. Quit fishing with him now and land them myself. Plant foot up his ass!

  • oh my is that a fricken fish bowl net? get a bigger net buddy and learn to land a muskie properly

  • Nice fish!

Did you end up getting it in the boat?

  • What is that a panfish net? Most muskie fisherman don't use nets anymore anyway. We just wear gloves and are gentle. Nets remove the protective slime from the scales leaving the fish prone to infection. That's a nice legal muskie though.

  • you are retarted u said muskie fisherman dont use nets anymore thats bullshit i have never seen anyone not use a net for a muskie and im out everyday all over catching them so u have no clue what your talkin about

  • well sometimes they use a cradle.... but if neither one of those and fishing these things your just stupid lol

  • don't worry trx450r63, everyone hates this MuskieMaddness character.

  • nice fish, it's fun when they are too big for the net!!!

  • nice fish
