I don't think the song really makes people die (if it did then no one ever commented) suicidal people tend to find something to associate their death with... and during the time that this song became a hit Hungary was in a state of utter ruin so many readily wanted to take their own lives. More likely it was a coincidental discovery. But I would not really recommend listening to this song when you're depressed or sad. Trust me.

I listened to this song twice... one time when I was so gloomy, and another when I was at my normal mood. There is a marked difference when you listen to it with a normal or somewhat ecstatic mood and when depressed. When listening to it with the former, one seems a bit impervious, but when depressed or gloomy yeah it does feel heavy inside cause your current emotional state connects your pain or grief with the paraverbal expression of pain in the song...
