one of thos classic stories when at the time they made it they thought "This will never work" and we today think "Are you crazy?" because it becomes gold!
A recent Berkeley grad friend and I have been issued a challenge:
If we get 500 people to join our Facebook group, a Berkeley undergrad student who is learning to play the bells in the campus belltower will play the Oscar Mayer Wiener Song using the bells! Please help us achieve this goal before the semester! ends
We'll celebrate with a YouTube video of the bells ringing our tune!
Please join the group on FB titled Berkeley Campanile should play I Wish I Were an Oscar Mayer Wiener!
Well kiddies! I was there and this guy has some key facts wrong. The jingle writer's name is Richard Trentlage. He never lived in Indiana. He was and still is a Chicago boy.
I don't see how Youtube can have a "history" of this jingle and not talk to him. I can assure you he not only wrote the song, he recorded the demo in his home studio(circa1961)and was "producer" for the radio jingle.
The "Haunting quality" was do to runny noses/colds of kid singers.

Does anyone remember a commercial from the late 1960's featuring a rock and roll band
singing the Oscar Meyer song. They were
called somebody and the somethings.
Like Garry Lewis and the Playboys, but
some other name. Does anyone remember the name of that band?

host/performer:Jim Stewart(Of"The Gloveables","Here's
Geraldine" and"It's Light Time"tv fame)did plugs for OM
on tv and for an Oscar Meyer giveaway toy..hand puppets
and a cardboard puppet theater.

Why does it say mildy season to bring out the beef flavor? if You season something YOU CHANGE ITS FLAVOR.
Charagrin 3 years ago
You enhance the flavour if you season it right. That's why some things go so well together.
