Someday I would like to try a run up the hill and then see in how many minutes I can do it. According to the movie, 23 minutes was not good enough for them.
@DoomLord121100 Sobel: "Where do we run?" Easy: "Currahee!" Sobel: "What's Currahee mean?" Easy: "We stand alone!" Sobel: "How far up, how far down?" Easy: "Three miles up, three miles down!" Sobel: "And what company is this?" Easy: "Easy company!" Sobel: "And what do we do?" Easy: "Stand alone!"
" This is not Dog Company, this is not Fox Company, this, this is Easy Company! And under my command this will be the first, and finest Company in this Regiment."
i read the actual book of this series , the real stories n yeah curahee was a beast of a running trail, n much more rocky and uneven than what the t.v series showed, wonder how many american kids could run up that hill today, too much xbox COD n supersized meals, U.S needs to harden up coz war is on the horizon....respect to the 101st
@Angusgibb This isn't Currahee Mt., Currahee makes this look like an anthill. My daughter and I ran up Currahee yesterday, to pay homage to all the PIR's of WWII. These men were in serious shape, I have nothing but respect for them all.
while some woul like to think that Sobel was responsible for making "Easy" Company....the fact is, he was an poor leader. HE would have gotten them all killed.
@bigrob981 While he was in some regards a poor leader with about zilch navigational skills and most likely would have gotten them killed. He, to a large extend was responsible for making the company. By being as hard as he could on the men, he formed them into a tighter group that would depend on each other to get them trough.
He was perhaps a great trainer, who prepared his men in a mental and physical hard way to the best of his abilities but was a poor choice of a combat leader.
You know you've watched too much Friends when you can't stop imagining David Schwimmer playing any other character than an emotionally insecure paeleantologist!
Colonel Sober was a pretty strong and mentally tough guy, I think even though he worked his men so hard he meant the best for his country and unit. Its too bad he was a crap soldier and that all his men hated him. No one even came to his funeral.
agreed...it was great how it worked out...trained harder than any other company. then when war time comes you serve for someone you actually like...awesome.
When he makes them do PT during lunch, the entire platoon still had enough strength to get ahead of him. Poor performance under pressure, Not listening to subordinates and not working with subordinates.
this is what my football team bases our season on. every year we go to currahee for team camp and run the mountain on the last day. and we break our huddle on currahee.
you want a gold medal? Try having it 110 degrees and running around in hot sand while bullets are whizzing by your head and trying to keep a steady shot and killing another turban-wielding psycho
It's just music scored by the late Michael Kamen. I'm pretty sure you could find it on iTunes. I found my copy at some place that sold CDs in the soundtrack section--it might have even been the BX at Edwards AFB. Some great original scoring for the entire series by Kamen I might add--very stirring. This series is one of my favorite anything found on TV.
Gotta love Sobel for running up front, even though he was bad in practice.

This shows Sobel was also in good shape. That's why he got to the top of the mountain before his men.
In my opinion, in real life it is interesting that an officer is in good shape and this serves as an example for his men
