There is a trick to it that Fernito did on his speed runs...he jumped on top of his head, and then used quick kick and pistol while the cyclops used his own rockets against him...damaging only him and not you. A glitch in the game.

here's a suggestion that will help you get through the fight without getting hit, stay on top of the silver colored area and let loose with the devestator or RPG but make sure you got max ammo on both of them before attempting this.

I always saved my ammo for this rocket-glove-thingy uberweapon just for this moment. It takes like 5 seconds and u dont even have to evade the bosses attacks. Also those 20-rockets-per-second shots looks kinda cool in this situation - boss keeps screaming in pain. ^^
