  • awesome xD

  • your hot =9

  • whats congo mean for dread terms?

  • when 2 or more locks dread into each other

  • oh ok thank you.

  • whats it called if one dread splits into two making what looks like a torso of a stick man

  • ognoc? lol jk i dont have a clue

  • its not actually one spliting in two but two locking together into one and its called a congo.

  • @EvaLasta Its when sections of hair that get binded together into a single dread.

  • Not really man. I and I Rasta keep I locks uncombed but clean as the body is the temple of Jah. Cleanliness is essential.

RASTA is not a hairstyle. Rasta is a belief, a different way of viewing the world and oneself, and a lifestyle that has much more involved than just "dreads" or "locks".

Please don't confuse Rasta and dreadlocks. Locks represent a lot to Rasta, but to many non-Rasta, locks are just a cool hairstyle.

    One Love. Jah Bless

  • yes he washes his. hair with natural soap

  • i love these dreads

  • vegan soap? i saw some hemp shampoo...so it was all neglect? no back combing?

  • no backcombing...just left my hair alone for 14 months

  • did you seciton them at all, or just let them grow?

  • Hate Eternal!! Cool dreads!

  • I love your hair but the links in your info are incomplete so they don't work. Can you put the full working links somewhere?

  • nice dreads.

  • i think your dreads are really cool but for me this way doesn´t work so i´ll just backcomb. but you earned my respect two thumbs up

  • i think your dreads are really cool but for me this way doesn´t work so i´ll just backcomb. but you earned my respect two thumbs up

  • i have 2 questions: how long was your hair when you started "neglecting" it? is it comfortable to sleep with?

  • you are hot

  • this video made me change my mind about getting dreads

  • These dreads are the real thing! No wax no stylist "making them".Cool man!

  • i don't think a black person can get them the natural way huh?

  • why not i'm doing mine the "natural way" and they're realy looking good after one month

  • those dreads are amazing dude, great job

  • wow we should hook up!-sexy dredhead!

  • owh my god :o sexy hair, sexy man :D

  • no way! my dreads gone like that when I wasn't looking after them..they joint near scalp and it went all bad like this. therefore the best solution would be scissors after all

  • hahah looks like the busdriver lady from south park wit da birds nest

  • it's shit...your hair isn't dreadlock

  • sick locks cant wait till mine are that long

    peace

  • u know, if I stop combing my hair for a few months it rats up just like that, but only in the back and the rest is perfectly silky. I would like to do it that way but I dont think I can.

  • dont use conditioner and it wont be silky

  • oh yeah, i guess i was using conditioner lol. stupid me!

  • Looks sweet, that's what I've been wanting to do! Do you wash it? I've been wanting to get dreads but I don't like the really straight and pretty looking one's. I want them to be random, wild like nature meant them to be.

    -Peace

  • it looks sorta greasy....but i DIG those man.

  • dreadlocks aren't suppose to be nice there called dreadlocks because there dreadfull. it's about freedom, and any maintence you are still a slave to your hair and the superfical looks. combs are an invention of man to tell you how to look. There not suppose to be perfect, as marley said dreads are a persons identity and changing the path of your dreads is like changing who you are.

  • okey dokey thanks :)

  • my hair gets in the way alot. and i wanted to know before i start the natural process...can you still tie your hair back without messing up the process???

  • yea..but obviously if u have it tied back ALL the time then it wont dread becuase the hair wont be moving....but i tied my hair back

  • when u wash once or twice a week do u rinse your hair in between washes?

  • i washed my hair once or twice a week...but i took showers more often

  • how long did it take before you started to notice ur dreads takin shape?

  • it looks smells bad

  • wow

i have dreadlocks and i think yours arnt that bad they look very nautral dont listen to the other people they probuley dont anything about dreadlocks...yeahh keep growing them!

  • i wish your deviantart link worked. i am interested in seeing what your hair looks like now, since that was a year ago.

Great job doing it naturally. that takes commitment!

  • listen to gothicgirl.

    IM BLACK BY THE WAY.

ok so your hair is locked. good job. what you want to do to prevent it from becoming one big ass nap is to begin twisting the roots. you can do it after a shower while the hair is soft and manageable. just continue to twist it and twist it to get the locks seperate. trust me.

  • your doin it the worst way possible..it looks like complete shit. Im sorry. I want my dreads to look nice and not nappy and dirty.

Dont neglect it. care for it. The way your doing it is horrible..you will possible end up with a giant dread that you cant get out

  • can some 1 plz help me 2 make dreads thx.!

  • never cut, throw your comb away, wash it atleast once or twice a week. That's all you need to do. Use Organic soaps like "Dr. Bronner" and you should be fine.

  • Natural dread is the real!!!

    RESPECT

  • dreadful

  • sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet

you seriously did nothing to this but not comb it?

  • Eww.

  • Dreads* sorry

  • dude your dreas are fuckin sick, i started gettin some.. i hope there gona be as sweet as yours lol

  • Yo man i got a question iv'e never combed my hair in my life... but i don't have dreads do you have any idea why?

  • it begins to knot up at around shoulder length. It helps to wash with Organic/Vegan soap/shampoo since it doesn't contain crazy residues/sulfates. If you wash too often, it will loosen it up too much too often. AND you shouldn't run your fingers through it because that loosens it up too.

  • y would u do that and if u want normal hair again u will have to cut it and get i wig or grow it all over again dumbass

  • actually...ive combed my dreads out...ignorant dumbass

  • Gross. D:

  • looks sick

  • your so damn hot.

  • thats how i got mine... but my hair was really frizzy so it was full blown dreads within 12 months :)

  • im growin me out some to i wash myne though yours is long mynes is like little medium like u can still call it corn rows

  • did u do it urself

  • joemusiclover....what? did i stop combing myself?

  • no... did u do the dread's urself

  • ....no1 did my dreadlocks...not even me...i just stoped combing and they happened...

  • wtf r u for real....i would try it but i don't think it would work cuz my hair is curly as fuck

  • Joe, curly hair actually dreads up even faster.

  • yeah.... but if i never comb it it would also shortian abit it wouldn't be long like david in dreads

  • haha that's hella badass they just happened

  • thats fucking tight. keep that shit up cuz.. i'm growing my shit too... my hairs a lot shorter but i got some dreads braiding or w/e right now.. i might get them done tho cuz its taking forever

  • dude should have got them done they would be alot cleaner but they look aight man i bet it was a bitch doing that shit peace

  • do u wash 'em in that time?

  • those arnt dreds those are just a mess natural dreds suck

  • well... i guess they're looking a lot better than 8 months haha, thats crazy it takes so long but they end up looking alright. cool

  • I think this is when your hair looked the best. Too bad it got ratty but it looks cute here...maybe you should try a more active technique to get them developed all the way? Anyway you're a cute guy no matter how your hair looks, I love the length and color.

  • dude thats how you get filthy smelling hair, you need to have them done if you want them clean

  • this isnt how to make dreads. u need to back comb, or i'm pretty sure this only works for african hari, twist.

  • actually this is the original dreadlocking method. you simply do nothing with your hair (although i wash mine with a vegan soap). i got my dreads this way. backcombing is much quicker, but it seems that most people with backcombed dreads are quite jealous of mine. cheers!

  • Fuck thats cool. my hairs only just starting to do that at the back, thinking about getting them done properly or just ripping them appart.

  • this is how real dreads are formed. natural!!!

  • could of at least minimally parted them ... they just look nasty

  • i hate parted dreadlocks...looks so unnatural

  • i didn't watch that video, i juzt listened to music... Amazing...

  • oh fuck O.o

  • you are hot! and i love your dreads!

  • thats a shity and ugly way to get dreads

  • sweeeeeeet

  • pf91rodman..funny u say that...il tell my girlfriend

  • well you wont if ur asian

  • i have long hair and i get ALOTA girls, how would u know? ever HAD long hair?!

  • yes i have 6 inches

  • well acually i HAD 6 inches

  • that isnt anything, its long, but not THAT long

  • THATS A FUCKED UP HEAD

  • very fucking nice dreads dude! i´ve been going natural for a month and it´s going great!

  • lol man i combed mine,, that way i dont get 3 in one :P

  • lol man i wish i had ur hair lol. i hav reele curly hair :S

  • I agree with you.

  • i had my locks for all my life.i think i wanna cut them cuz they are making me trip alot

  • how long shoudld yor hair be before u get dreads?

  • with neglect, you stop combing the first day you decide to go naturally. every other method, you could start with 3-4 inches, just make each lock kinda small, then leave it alone from there. Of course, with longer hair, you can make bigger dreads instead.

  • i'm gettin dreads the natural way too. if you wouldn't have taken ur dreads out they would've dreaded all the way though right? i was also wondering if prell classic was any good

  • K thx alot man :D

  • You know dude im considering the idea of getting draeds, but does it work on any hair... cuz mine is like generall straight right umm (alot like john lennon's hair rlly) so i mean can ya respond to this when you can cuz it seems you seem to know alot about it, and i definetly like the idea of doing it naturally as appose to other stuff.

  • yes it works on any hair..my hair is very strait too

  • keep it clean no wax it adds to build up, wash hair to start only once every week

  • Ah! Your dreads looked awesome, too bad you combed them out. But I can understand the enjoyment in the process. And apparently the forum you recommend is no longer there.

  • oh it is.. its

    com3@runboard@com/bknottydreadlockforum

    replace the @ with a .

  • remember clean hair makes them loc faster! putting wax in your hair cause dirt build up never use beeswax or products with petroleum

  • I agree! I had a personal experience(nightmare) with the wax. I'm going natural now, so. :-)

  • yeah!!!! pretty !!!

  • hi my hair is incredibly thick, but apart from that its just fairly straight, blonish brown hair. would hair of that type dread ok or would it be a problem?

  • ive had dreads for 6 months now (started with backcombing) and i have a few questions.

-I have a lot of loose hair. will this disappear with time and join the other dreads?

-Only like 1 - 1 1/2 inches of my dreads are actually dreads (from the root and out), the rest keeps coming undone. is that normal?

Btw, your dreads look awesome David ^^

  • the loose hairs will join other dreads yes...just be careful..dont let them join other dreads or itl create a big mess....

yes the rest will dread up....its normal...the end will dread last

  • Do you help them a little bit?

Ive been doing this 4 about .5 a year.

What if you get a hair cut?

please email me at m.garett.p (at) gmail (dot) com

  • hey dude , nice set of natural dreads.

  • wizardofodds79 could u explain how he did it then?

  • toujizanai, you are an ignorant prick. Maybe some people don't want to stick loads of wax in their hair and ruin it. You probably have a head full of fucking candles. Go back to your Knotty Boy products and salon locks, loser.

  • Im still unclear on Bob Marley. To do the Neglect method can u still wash ur hair? Cause I want to go as natural as possible but i do need to wash my hair on a consistant basis. let me know wats best.

  • yes just make sure you wash with soap that contains no artificial fragances, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, and no conditioner. Another tip to make sure you are keeping your hair clean, is to rinse it with Apple Cider Vinegar maybe once a month, it strips out everything that might be in your hair, and you're just left with hair, and a uber clean scalp! :-)

  • your a disgusting person... if you get dreadlocks just section and back comb with wax.. you get better results then what you have there in only 2 days... plus you dont smell like animal shit

  • toujizanai....why would i want dreadlocks in only 2 days....and what makes you think i smell like animal shit?...ignorant prick

  • Dude, you should have some knowledge on something before you bag it man.

    I'm using the neglect method too, it's up to personal preference;

I wash my hair too buddy.

Neglect is not brushing/combing, nothing to do with hygeine.

  • does anyone happen to know how bob marley grew his dreads?

  • he just didnt wash his hair..

  • Jesus, you're stupid. Do you have a clue? I wash my hair 3 times a week, and use no wax or products. You think Marley got locks through not washing hair? ROFL. Idiot.

  • you could look on wikipedia or something

  • So I did a little bit of research and found out that if anybody plans on doing the neglect method it would be a pretty good idea to wash it. Most folks who don't wash their hair end up having to cut all their locks off due to serious scalp problems.

Scientists discovered 14 different types of lice on Bob Marley's head. Four of those types of lice were found EXCLUSIVELY ON HIS HEAD. Somewhere along the line, a few different species mated together and created lice found NOWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD.

  • I recommend going to dreadheadhq, com and ordering a bottle of their shampoo, but only the shampoo. Check out some of their dreadlock pictures and you'll see some of the worst locks you've seen, made by DreadHead HQ products. Again, the shampoo is good. Anything else you could buy from there will rot in your hair.

  • hmm. how do you know anything other than the shampoo will "rot"? why aren't the other products good?

  • dude, this guy is gonna need to get his head undreaded and redreaded used a proper method to repair that

  • please no one mind this fool about what they say about bob marley he if you really did the research you would know bob was bald due to chemotherapy at the time of his death and you would also know it was a morening ritual for him to was his hair he even sings of it in his songs. most people with dreads wash their hair because it aids in the dreading process, hair will not lock together if it is all dirty and greasy it needs to be nice and clean for them to form

  • right, dry and frizzy, you need to roll and wax existing dreads to help em tighten up

  • Yeah, because dreads that are waxed in place unable to move create wonderful knots, you moron. Go search for pics of what the inside of waxed dreads look like--yummy! I get sick of looking at "perfect" little DreadHeadHQ locks that literally look like dog turds. David's are beauitful.

  • Celtic frost \m/

  • Saltwater will help your hair dread much faster, depends on what kind of haie you have. I wonder how they will look in few years :P

  • lol i dont want to help them dread faster...im happy with wats happening...yea i cant wait to see them in a few years...they will prob all congo together lol

  • I use Morton's Sea-Salt, which they claim that they got the salt from the ocean surrounding Spain. Either way, it's sea-salt, and it works! :-)

  • Nice dreads, I wouldnt dare to do that...14 months, geez! how many is it? :P I have 33

  • hehe thx..well its 15 months now (got a new vid)..i havent counted latly.. but ive got about 15-20 dreads..and still alot of loose hair that will dread in the future...

  • i absolutely fucking love your dreads. they're amazing. i'm thinking of getting some myself, but i'm probably gonna use dreadhead. ^_^ you're really cute too. :D

  • kickass dreads man.

keep showing everyone you don't need to put shit in your hair to have some sweet dreadies.

I'm at about a year and half myself with a mix of backcomb and neglect.

and kudos on the Hellhammer song.

  • Yo David, you mind if I throw some knowledge out there for those who might need to hear it?

  • depends...if ur gonna tell ppl to use wax and bands then no...otherwise sure go ahead :)

  • Well, kinda. If one would put anything in their hair, I advise that he or she use beeswax or honey because anything else will rot and grow mold. You know they found edible honey in King Tut's tomb?

  • But anyways, some folks don't wash their hair with anything for 30 days or so because around that time your scalp begins to produce the natural oils it needs to be healthy. And as long as you keep the oil out of your hair (by using saltwater or just plain soaking and working it out with your hands) it'll start locking up. In fact, that's something you need to do if you don't wash it, or else, again, the oil will collect and grow mold.

  • Oh and Bob Marley put feces in his hair, if you're feeling dedicated.

  • "them cant believe...This grows natural...planty people have the wrong idea about this." - Bob Marley

  • I can't believe how much progress you've made in such a short time, and the congos are gonna be crazy! And to all of the haters, do u seriously think Bob Marley pulled off crazy awesome dreads with a gallon a wax a day and rubber bands? I think not..those were natural!

  • how big is ur bigest congo david? mine is 7 locks morphing into one

  • ah my biggest is the 3 one...but i think anouther 1 is joinin the group soon :P

  • oh yeah, i also have some that are like 3 or four that have morphed into one. love that!

  • ive seen all your videos and i give you mad props. i have locks as well and keep them very clean. my fave shampoo is this neutralizer shampoo i get from this beauty supply shop. it removes all residue and keeps them squeaky clean.

  • you are entitled to your opinion. either way, they look shitty. end of story.

  • sexyStonerCunt, many people like my dreads, many dreadheads like my dreads, i know many people with "proper" dreads cut them of to start neglect dreads, your entitled to your opinion too but you dont have to insult me just becuase my dreads look shitty in your opinion and even if you really must, at least put a video up of your dreads.

  • and hair salons use wax, which is acually bad, it never comes out, it retains water, and will eventually lead to mold. i think David's dreads are kick-ass and i give huge props to anyone using neglect. and this way is NOT lazy, think of the patience involved. going to a salon is lazy
