@coolcatevan9 "The South wasn't racist"? So having separate drinking fountains and separate waiting rooms, not letting black people sit at lunch counters, making 4 black people give up their seat on a bus so one white person can sit down (without having to sit next to a black person), etc. wasn't racist?
Says much about our history...We need more of an ability to laugh... not forget.. just laugh some. How ridiculous some of the things we did were...Just leave them in the past
lol, except for the racism, this doesn't go much more over the top than actual country songs. Though I can still hear Al Jolson rolling over in his grave XD
@yumyummoany Eh, a lot of it depends on the preparation. Good grits shouldn't feel gritty, more... fluffy. Still some texture, but not crunchy, like some of the instant stuff. XP Also a lot goes by what you put in it. butter, ground pepper, sugar, bacon, hot sauce, shrimp, jack daniels.... But I imagine I'm preaching to the choir here. :)
I am on a mission to contact the man himself, if anyone has a hint on how to do this I would love to hear it and if there is any way to reward you i will do my best
@SmilingJack100 And do you know why he voted for Obama? Because he's one of the smartest people alive - Tom Lehrer is a genius and everyone who has some hope for a better future for the world and the US should be grateful for Lehrer's endorsement.
Perhaps you lack a good understanding of what it is a satirist actually does. People applaud at the clever way in which he lambastes the south. Consider your word for the day to be "irony".
Really? Nice. His voice changed quite a bit. I watched a recent rendition of him singing "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park". He seems more rushed in that rendition.
Excellent! This is EXACTLY why I need to move out of Texas. It's racist (yeah still), the laws are from the 19th century and in East Texas, you wouldn't have trouble finding inbreds or lynchings.
"and the honeysuckle clutters up the vine" i love honeysuckle!

I'd like to illustrate with several hundred examples for you this evening.

@mabarry3 It's probably fine to poke fun at New York at least. They're doin' all right.

Hubby brought some grits back from the US - decided it's something you have to grow up with - like tripe!

I can't for the life of me imagine a shrimp or JD in my grits, but yeah... the proper fixin is key.
Some crumbled sausage mixed in and eaten with butter and toast is a very good way to go.

I agree, he's insanely, smart, why do you have to tell me this? I was remarking on how progressive he was.

Are you certain that the endorsement wasn't satirical, like nearly everything else he's done?

@MisterHowe better yet why does it matter? You don't have to agree with someones politics or disagree to enjoy them
