I've been a real guitarist for about 18 years and first looked a bit negative at Guitar Hero. But indeed, it could also be seen as something positive, even though I'm totally not interested in playing the game myself.
At least with Guitar Hero, the young people get introduced to some music that probably isn't much to be seen at MTV anymore, but which could still be educational and perhaps stimulate them to play real guitar instead of wanting to be a "wanksta".

I actually feel sorry for the people who made this video. They seem to be portraying Guitar Hero as some sort of danger to humanity, as if some people enjoying a video game could cause time and space itself to collapse.
What we have here is a man with terrible hair and, quite possibly, the worst dress sense in the known universe hamming it up against a non-existant force in the least convincing fashion possible.
It also appears that this video is filed under the category comedy. Mistake?

Am calm, just everywhere you go and read about a Guitar Hero or Rock Band game you get these greasy haired, unshaven invalids coming out and saying "go and learn a real instrument". Do they apply this to all games? Do they berate people for playing Call Of Duty 4 and demand they enrol into the army? Perhaps shout at children to stop playing Pokemon and go into the long grass and find a REAL Pidgeotto.

Pokemon aren't real, to that you need a game. COD4 is possible, but most people would die, but playing guitar is a very rewarding thing to do, and the time spent on this game, which is something entirely possible, and won't get you killed, could be put to better use. You see?

Guitar Hero will always generate haters for some reason. Never really understood it. It doesn't actually affect anyones lives in a bad way, it's a good game.
Unfortunately, you get some types who claim to be musical and cultural exponents spouting a load of nonsense. They probably don't play any games, because after all no game is like the real thing. Surely they aren't being hypocritical? ;-)

I really don't understand why everyone is so pissed about Guitar Hero. Playing the game with friends who can't play a real instrument is just pure fun and as mentioned before it got a lot of kids in playing a real guitar and listening to classic rock and metal, myself included. It sure has nothing to do with the real thing but as long as the game gets people more in to music what the hell is to hate about it?

People enjoy music from video games. FACT, You enjoy the game you enjoy the music! as a gamer I know WTF I'm talking about, but you GH players are NOT real fans of the music at all!
The reason you THINK you are into those songs / bands in GH is because you listen to them again and again and again, which has been proven to make people like the track but because it has been forced on you, thats what radio does!
A real fan of the music doesnt need to hear it on a kids video game to enjoy it.

I've been a real guitarist for about 18 years and first looked a bit negative at Guitar Hero. But indeed, it could also be seen as something positive, even though I'm totally not interested in playing the game myself.
At least with Guitar Hero, the young people get introduced to some music that probably isn't much to be seen at MTV anymore, but which could still be educational and perhaps stimulate them to play real guitar instead of wanting to be a "wanksta".

@klaasklapper when guitar hero came out all i could do was want to play guitar. it inspired me to get better at guitar, like most people i started playing but lost interest. guitar hero got me going again. ive been playing guitar for about 6 years now. but i dont play guitar hero anymore. real guitar is much more fun.
