Jesus Was The Vine ISRAEL, Not CHRISTIANS Were The BRANCHES. Hey John Candy, how do you reconcile Eph.2:10 "4 we R HIS 'WORKmanship', 'created' (who does the creating?) in Christ 4 good works, which God PREPARED (who prepared?) beforehand that we should walk N them" & John 15:5 "I am the vine, U R the branches. He who abides N Me, and I N him, BEARS (not produces) much fruit; for w/out Me U can do nothing."
Can a Branch Produce Fruit? No, it only BEARS fruit PRODUCED BY THE VINE - U can do NO-THING w/out ME, which means NO-THING, including your works.
Many use the word "saved", but normally is used in the place of what should properly be called "Justification". Justification happens BEFORE one works OUT their salvation, otherwise they couldn't work out their salvation because they would have no salvation to work out. If a person isnt Justified, the the Holy Spirit doesnt reside within that person. therefore God wouldnt be "working in" that person. so vs.13 wouldnt apply to someone working FOR their salvation, rendering your exegesis faulty.
Work OUT your salvation..."Work out the Salvation you have obtained." it doesnt say Work FOR your salvation..go on to verse 13."for it is God who works IN YOU, both to will and to work for his good pleasure." If you arent saved already, God will not work in you as far sanctification goes. Obviously it doesnt mean you work to earn your salvation. Look at Phil 1:6 "And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ."
Phil. 2:12–13 The Philippians have obeyed (cf. Christ's obedience, v. 8) in the past and should continue to do so as they work out their salvation with fear and trembling. They cannot be content with past glories but need to demonstrate their faith day by day as they nurture their relationship with God.
@spellbiff But while God's justice is a cause for sober living (“fear and trembling”), it is not as though Paul wants the Philippians to be anxious that they can never be good enough to merit God's favor. Rather, it is God's love and enabling grace that will see them through: it is God who works in you.
@spellbiff They can rejoice in God's empowering presence even as they work hard at living responsible Christian lives. While v. 12 may seem to suggest salvation by works, it is clear that Paul rejects any such teaching (cf. 3:2–11). In 2:12 Paul means “salvation” in terms of progressively coming to experience all of the aspects and blessings of salvation.
@spellbiff The Philippians' continued obedience is an inherent part of “working out” their salvation in this sense. But as v. 13 demonstrates, these works are the result of God's work within his people. both to will and to work for his good pleasure. Even the desire (“to will”) to do what is good comes from God; but he also works in the believer to generate actual choices of the good, so that the desires result in actions.
For the redeemed in Christ, they will not WANT to live "hellishly". That doesnt mean we dont sin, that just means, that our heart of stone has been replaced with a heart of flesh. Our desire to please Christ never leaves. But for someone to teach that you are saved by your own merits , then that is a man-centered gospel, and HERESEY, in it's purest form.
One thing that many don't understand, is that obedience is "enabled" by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, a person CANNOT be obedient and come to Christ, UNLESS the Father draws them first(see John 6:44) ..Furthermore, ALL who the father draws, WILL come to Christ and they will never be cast out.(see John 6:37). If you are saved, you were bought by the blood of Christ, and his perfect righteousness was given to you.......
In order to work out a salvation you have to have it.What does the verse mean? But to use your uniqueness in Christ as an obedient standard and not conditional to everyone obeying the same way..
OSAS lie.Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch...and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
Romans 9 my friend its in the bible it will always be in the bible until the lord comes. what u are teaching is self glorification it is wrong!jesus himself says we are called by god!!!!!. the bible describes those who are not of Christ as "dead in their sin" DEAD as in no longer living so how can the dead raise them self to life..they cant god must do it for them! if the jew are the CHOSEN peeps of god and god is the same yday 2day and 4eva then y would the rules change halfway thru the game!

OBEY ME..... The is Paul talking, and if you read Phil 1;v6 Paul states that he that hath begun this good work in you, will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.
You shouldn't try to refute antinomian eternal security. but you should perseverance of the saints. The bible does not teach that you can do whatever you want and go to heaven. The bible does say that God works in us to persevere to the end. True christians persevere to the end
You say I can't do anything with this verse, but I believe the Holy Spirit taught me "work out your own salvation" means cry out in prayer, "Lord, save me from my sins!" This, of course, means God is even causing me to pray what is needful toward salvation.
So, what can you do with the following acknowledgment King David made?
Psalms 57:2 I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me.
It seems quite simple actually ; The good they did was the result of God, but they still have the free-will to choose to go against God. He is simply reminding them to continue doing good.
I see what your saying about Gal 5:22. Norm is trying to preach what the Bible says even though it doesn't sit well with those who don't agree with what is shown in the Bible. What about I Titus 1:3 "This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;"

Dane- "HOw is Norm glorifying Christ"
By teaching the TRUTH and rebuking false man-made doctrines espoused by those such as yourself who so boldly proclaim Christs' church is a "cult"...
You should repent Dane, soon...
