Also, "Republican" and "Democratic" in the sense of the parties are just labels, they have nothing to do with our system of government, which is set in stone by the Constitution. And only the Republicans make an attempt to be ideologically unified (albeit loosely) and a large number of Democrats are ideologically conservative.
