Is this not one of the greatest songs ever written..? !! Man, I get teary eyed at the beauty of it every time I watch and listen to it. Music at it's finest. Roger Hodgson was brilliant to say the least, and what a voice! I remember hearing Take the Long Way Home for the first time when I was a kid and even then I stopped what I was doing to listen to it as I was in awe. I listen to it now and I am still amazed as ever...
what happened to the sweet harmonica riff intro to the song, that's perhaps the most classic part about this song, the deep sense of nostalgia and melancholy that goes with that harmonica riff, it's so memorable. The song loses that mood without the harmonica.
Beautiful. Background music of my youth. This song, and the album from which it came, reminds me of a high school ski trip on a greyhound bus in '79.
This album playing at the front of be bus. Van Halen 1 at the back. Heh, Heh
The long bus ride there allowed me - finally - enough time and courage to tell a girl I had a crush on for 2 years how I felt. The best decision of my life up to that point. Needless to say, it was a great trip :-)
This man is a God. He may be in his 60s but he still sounds like he's in his prime. What has happened to music these days? Its as if all music these days is manufactured cellophane wrapped performers who play on puppet strings. The real talent was left behind in the 70s.
Love that all-time classic from Roger "Mr. Supertramp" Hodgson :))) So happy he is again touring this year, don't miss him if you get the chance to visit one of his most fantastic live concerts, he's more than worth to see and hear !!!
