  • Really good video 5*! Shame I didn't know this was on otherwise I would have went to show some support for these guys. I know now that it was on a Sunday so the town would have been quiet anyway but I totally blame Newcastle City Council for not publicising the event in any noticable way (you can tell by the turnout!). I'm in town 4 days a week and knew nothing at all about this or HMS Cumberland. Shame on the council for not wanting others to celebrate a true geordie hero like Collingwood.

  • @MSD88 Thank you. I know it was rather a poor turnout. I travelled up from skipton and expected to see alot more people there and was suprised when only about 50 people were stood watching at the end. I'm not sure about what it was like at other points on the parade route but I expected alot more. Amazing parade nevertheless.

  • Glad to see you made that special effort to travel all that way. Any parade with a RM band is always a good parade. But the poor turnout (be it due to the lack of advertising or whatever) makes it seem like people don't care and that's not the case. I managed to see a homecoming parade for the Light Dragoons in Newcastle in December and you couldn't move for supporters. However that took place at 12 noon on a Friday so there was more people out and about.

  • spot the chief AWW mistake when saluting in that last RN platoon before the booties....that must of been an expensive port fine!!
