@GregariousGorilla It was called the Great Schism. In the Roman Empire their was a divide between the East(Greek) and West(Latin). The result was 2 different practices, the Roman Catholic Church and the Greek Orthodox Church. Then centuries later Lutheranism, Protestant, Calvinism... Now today, all the different sects are countless... We all stemmed from Christ, "I am the vine and you are the branches". We will all be under 1 banner once again in our Lord's 2nd coming.
as Mother Teresa said to her covenant sisters, " Don't preach Jesus, but let others see Jesus in you." Denominations, Religious etc., are not the answer. It is the love of God, that is shown through us, through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
@badge930 This all nice and everything, but the fact remains that there is only one truth, and therefore, we can't all be right at once. Ergo, either we're all wrong (unlikely...the Lord wouldn't allow that to happen, I don't think. He said that the gates of hell would not prevail against the Church) or only one denomination is right. If the latter is the case, it is our job to search for the truth and follow it. In other words, we need to be actively seeking and determining who's right.
@thecommentmonster I fully agree with you. How can we be satisfied with only a partial truth? We must search for what is right. I don't believe that we're all doomed to hell if we don't follow the true religion, but I think God wants us to seek truth - not just settle for the partial truth. You may be familiar with another Christian song "Come to the Water"... "and let all who seek, let them come to the water".
@strawberrykiwi20aI don't think people settle for a partial truth.I think there are degrees of understanding, cultural differences, etc.that cause us to latch onto certain truths while pushing other truths aside. It really is our heart/disposition that will judge us, and not how we understood (or misunderstood) it all. So some will be saved outside of "the fullness of truth",but we should never be content to let people be satisfied. Why leave them to survive on toast when they could be eating meat?
Thanks JMT for all you do, God has used you in my life and I am proud to call you brother! When I see all the debates about denominations it makes me really sad. @1macboo Thats right. I am in the one true remnant church prophesied in revelation. The body of Christ may be "wide and deep" but so is the path to hell.

@andrija1978 the one true church founded by Jesus is a people who have a true intermate relationship with him - who do what he says - these people exsist in different denominations
I'm not catholic , but I love this song, because it is from the Bible. It is David's song. If the Catholic church would just put the scriptures before all the world would be a better place. Jesus warned about making traditions doctrine..
@1onderman The Catholic Church has preserved the Holy Scriptures for hundreds of years for ALL of us, and we Catholics hear the Bible in almost its complete entirety at our Mass every three years. Many of our prayers and liturgy are directly from the Bible, God bless all Christians on YT !!
I'm trying to find the tabs to this song so I can learn to play it. Does anyone know of a good Christian guitar site I can find sheet music for free? Ultimate guitar and other don't seem to have it.
JMT's music touches a part of my soul that no other does...true "right brain spirituality"! This piece, along with his version of the Magnificat ("Holy Is His Name"), and others ARE my credo!
When christ who is our life appears then shall we be like him. the methodist will not go before the presb,or the catholic before prot. we are one body in christ with jesus as the corner stone. this should put to silence any arrogance from any denomination. when we let god arise his enemys will scatter. the seperation of wheat and chaff will happen swiftly. our reward comes not from denomination, but from eager anticipation of our lord jesus.
@lambsbookoflife wat great wisdom my dear brother in christ, anoniting words of wisdom. we should all accept eachother as christ accepets us HIS CHILDREN. may the Holy Spirit continue to work within your words and may the love of jesus be always within u my dear friend. god bless u now and always.

Belonging to a certain denomination does not automatically exclude or include a person as a Christian. It is whether a person puts their hope in the sacrifice of Christ and accepts Him as their Lord and God. Any Christian from any denomination can do this so let's just leave it at that and enjoy the beautiful music of this precious servant of God.
A Calm Resolve to Wait for the Salvation of God. Psalm 62. a true Psalm of God. I'd encourage anyone to read this Psalm and listen to this song and meditate on Jesus Christ and find peace and joy!

Though I am not Catholic anymore, I feel such a kindred spirit with JMT. He focuses on the truth. We play his music in our ministry offices almost daily. It is true worship
I am waiting for the video to load. It takes a long time on dial up.I have always loved the music of John Michael Talbot and his brother also sings wonderful songs, but a little different type. A friend used to come over with his guitar and sing this song and he did a great job at it too!! I still find it very soothing and full of the Spirit of Worship. I am anxious to actually see JMT in the video singing. This will be my first time seeing him in action. Gods blessings

This song has been dear to me for many years. Growing up from a young boy. And now as a father. I like to share with my son. Expressing to him how greatful we should all be for Jesus Christ. And the example he is for us and the Church.
I was 22 yrs old in 1985 when John came to our church, he was a very quiet gentle soul and an amazing artist for the Lord. My mother and I shared his music on Vinyl records, cassttes and CD's. I being a soprano from a very young age, would sit and sing his music. I to this day still sing with a heart of thanksgiving for the Lord touching my tender life at age 17.
"My peace I leave with you my peace I give to you", Jesus. God be with you John. You will be able to rebuild and no fire can stop God's will for your ministry.

Thanks for posting. One of my favorite songs. I am looking for a video/song with the Peace Prayer by John Michale Talbot from his Come to the Quiet CD. I love this song.
Yes, Come to the Quiet was an awesome album and had a great effect on my when I was young. One of my favorites. I love his music. You can just turn it on and pray without distraction.
yes - it does'nt matter what christian denomination we are - just that we radiate the anointing of Jesus in our lives, not cold religion, thats not of God and people rebel against - its the anointing that cuts to the heart
Thank you for putting this up here. Sounds like you are an Evangelical Christian who appreciates good worhship music whether it is Protestant or Catholic. Pax Christi!
This song is profoundly moving to me. John Michael Talbot touches the musical soul in praise for the Creator. Saw him live in concert in Boston years ago. I've been a fan ever since. Jeannemarie : )
Saw JMT and brother Terry in concert in Victoria, MN on October 20, 2006, a birthday present to my wife who turned 51 that day! What a blessing!! This humble man and his music is appealing to all ages and faiths! Thank you for posting!
This means so much to me, I'm really glad I found it on here. JMT is amazing. I sang this as the psalm at my sister's wedding and then again more recently at a close friends funeral. Beautiful - I could listen all day. Thank you.
Many years ago, during one of the worst storms my homeland had ever endured, my mother and I rocked ourselves in the cold but safe space of one of our bathrooms while alternating between prayers and silence when this song came to mind. How appropriate was it then that the choir should sing the very song at her funeral just before we closed her casket. This song has a profound meaning with me and I still find comfort in its words as I'm sure I will even years from now. God is indeed a great God.
I heard this song once a long time ago in my church. On the day i had to buried my daddy i sung it to myself all day. It brought me strengh and hope. God is so great
JMT is truly a gift from God to us. Since 1982 his music has empowered & comforted me. I only wish I could share his gifts with the Spanish-speaking community.
As a licensed minister who is attending seminary to be ordained, the music of JMT is comforting to me and keeps me on track. The words of this song tell us that Christ is our Lord and we need not be afraid. May all that read this find the peace and love of Jesus Christ.
JMT has been my favorite Christian artist for over 30 years. His music ( and especially this song )has helped me through many difficult times in my life. My husband and I had the priviledge of sitting under his teaching for 3 days; and the awesome gift of attending Chapel with him and the people of " Little Portion ".
I'm always overwhelm with emotions when I hear Michael sing...this song especially which speaks so much of my inner desire to be with God. I felt so loved by Him. Thanks for posting this video and I'm sadden to hear that Michael will be taking a break after recording his 50 albums and I'm going to miss him and his music.
Its a theory, and even if time is built into Creation, it does not invalidate Him. It takes more faith to believe its all chance... If you want to believe that, so be it. One can believe in Him and not believe in a Young Earth as some believe...
John Michael has been an inspiration both spiritually and musically and I will always treasure singing with him in 1992 at Little Portion. The years have not been kind to me, but my faith and music have kept my sights on God. Bless you, John Michael!!
Thank you for posting this. My husband had cancer 2 years ago and we found the most comfort on JMT's music. Praise God my hubby's cancer free but going through it all the anointing on this wonderful brother's music was really needed....thank you John!
i remember seeing you playing the guitar and singing in the freres college in jerusalem 35 years ago and had never forgot your name nor your music [teddy]
I am non-demoninational full gospel beiliever, but could consider myself a Catholic after the order of Constantine. I love all Catholics but disagree on points of tradition regarding mans salvation. No matter what, I love this music and speaks to my heart and I hope that we all can be united in the bond of love.
I am not Catholic, but JMT is my favorite worship artist. He is heavilty anointed with the Spirit. When I met him in person after a concert, I was very impressed by his humble attitude and cheerful spirit. It was a tremendous honor to shake his hand. A true man of God.
The Church of Rome (Catholicism) is NOT, as you may have been taught, the "whore of babylon!" The Church follows the teachings of Christ to the letter...and the Pope's words are "infallible" ONLY when he speaks "Ex Cathedra", which is rare!
John Michael is Catholic for a REASON! My prayer is that each of you so moved will come to experience the Holy Sacraments of Christs' Church. Praise be His Holy Name!
Yes, Rasero27, you did indeed meet a man of God. When I met him I felt the same way...he was a man of God that our Lord wished all of us to know. His music is beyond simple praise, it is worship in every single note, just as God would want it to be!

"Only in God . . ."
This song is profoundly moving to me. John Michael Talbot touches the musical soul in praise for the Creator. Saw him live in concert in Boston years ago. I've been a fan ever since. Jeannemarie : )

The love of God shows in this man his music inspired Delora and Roger as they sang for the Lord .

JMT has been my favorite Christian artist for over 30 years. His music ( and especially this song )has helped me through many difficult times in my life. My husband and I had the priviledge of sitting under his teaching for 3 days; and the awesome gift of attending Chapel with him and the people of " Little Portion ".

whatever4ever123 4 years ago
The song is from 1989's timeless "Come To The Quiet" and taken from Psalm 62, verses one and two.
I'm listening to this cd right now. :-)

The scientific age of the earth is 4.4 billion years old. A billion has 9 zeros. The earth and solar system have the same age.
The age of the earth is one of the great scientific achievements of the present time.
To reject it because it does not comport with one's religious beliefs is sad and erroneous.
ukidding 4 years ago
not as sad and erroneous as rejecting the God from everlasting to everlasting
777i2i 4 years ago
Its a theory, and even if time is built into Creation, it does not invalidate Him. It takes more faith to believe its all chance... If you want to believe that, so be it. One can believe in Him and not believe in a Young Earth as some believe...

John Michael has been an inspiration both spiritually and musically and I will always treasure singing with him in 1992 at Little Portion. The years have not been kind to me, but my faith and music have kept my sights on God. Bless you, John Michael!!

The words come from Psalm 62, which is also a very powerful chapter. I always draw comfort from the Psalms.

A true man of God.
rasero27 4 years ago 3
I am not Catholic either, but I agree, his music IS worship TO the Lord.
OldtimeFiddler 4 years ago 3
The Church of Rome (Catholicism) is NOT, as you may have been taught, the "whore of babylon!" The Church follows the teachings of Christ to the letter...and the Pope's words are "infallible" ONLY when he speaks "Ex Cathedra", which is rare!
ShaneVL1959 4 years ago 2
"Ex Cathedra" means "from the chair" (of St. Peter.)
ShaneVL1959 4 years ago
John Michael is Catholic for a REASON! My prayer is that each of you so moved will come to experience the Holy Sacraments of Christs' Church. Praise be His Holy Name!
ShaneVL1959 4 years ago 4
Yes, Rasero27, you did indeed meet a man of God. When I met him I felt the same way...he was a man of God that our Lord wished all of us to know. His music is beyond simple praise, it is worship in every single note, just as God would want it to be!
ShaneVL1959 4 years ago 2
John Michael Talbot at his best. An outstanding worship experience.
