I'd like to get you On a slow boat to China, All to myself alone. To get you and keep you in my arms evermore, Leave all your lovers Weeping on the faraway shore. Out on the briny With the moon big and shinny, Melting your heart of stone. Darling, I'd love to get you On a slow boat to China, All to myself alone.
This song was at the top of the charts. Every time we turned the radio on, this was blaring out.
It was an extremely cold winter. Up at 6am, wash and shave in cold water, dress into itchy uniforms, march to the cookhouse for a breakfast, as often as not, of kippers. with not enough time to pick out the bones.
LUBIĘ TO.

Definitely the equal of Kay Kyser's original version and superior to the Midler/Manilow
version that is so popular today. This is my all time favorite song and I think I have
listened to more than 100 different versions of it.

I thought Kay Kyser's 1948 rendition of "A Slow Boat to China" was unsurpassable, but the Benko Dixieland Band's 2007 version is every bit its equal.

This sounds a lot like Manilow and Middler's version. Who sung it this way first?
