It's not the fact that this is the "best solo in the world", because Danny does much more. It's the fact that this song is a classic Tool song and fans love how the dynamic level builds up into this solo BECAUSE there aren't necessarily any Tool songs with a mini drum solo like this. And just to see him do it perfect over and over makes it consistent, recognizable, enjoyable, and it JUST...PLAIN....ROCKS

The radiation of godlyness melted the lenses a bit and also, the reason why the vid stops before the song is over is cause it spontaniously combusted. Thankfully, they used diamond-encrusted titanium film and thus were able to salvage the few seconds it captured.

All other instances where the camera is this close is the same case as this video. Also, don't forget to have garlic, silver bullets, wooden stakes, apparition-capturing thermuses and etc as these videos are often the cause of many mysterious deaths from the result of supernatural means.

What's amazing is that people think this is the most insane or ungodly solo they've ever heard. It's actually pretty straight forward, from a drummer's perspective. If you've got your double bass playing down, and you can master fast rolls, this shouldn't be too difficult to play. But I'll agree with the next guy that it is most definitely fun to watch him play it.

Tool does it the best, however, Godsmack is pretty well known for their drum battles on stage, Neal Pert of Rush always gives a good freestyle, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers straight up jam. Please don't start comparing. The difference is, despite the ovation they all get, I don't think any of those fans quite understand the significance of the drums the way Tool fans do. There's a certain class to the response that follows a Danny Carey solo. Bravo!

@coasternut3091 Music has been my passion for over 25 years, and although I don't have a doctorate in music, (have studied it in college though) their time signatures are actually quite easy to follow once you feel the rhythm. Granted, they are a little all over the place with it, it flows well. Jumps from 5/8 to 7/8 every measure in the beginning, then numerous other time signature throughout. Quite common in music though. Just not the typical crap played daily on the radio.
