  • still got a 70 k100 its got a newer 425 b model cat with an 18 double over and 3.36 rears and about 250 on wheel base and i run her alover pullin a reefer just cant get away from the old girl your 80 model looks great

  • @redneck7006 I have been seeing a GREAT looking K100 across I 80 in western Iowa pulling a reefer. I compliment him on the CB often. Might this be you ??

  • AHH, the days of the big white wheel. When men were men and you needed Peyton Hillis' biceps to back a truck. 30 tears later and Driving Schools still teach you to back up without stopping. None of them know why but the CDL Manual tells them to, so they do.

  • LOTS of midwestern farmers still use em to pull grain trailers to market. They probably bought them for pennies back when they were "going out of style". A new truck isn't required to make 10 trips a year.

  • Question for you 68, is a truck like this practical to get up and go to work today?I don't mean 48 states, of course, but just local/regional runs. I can tell this old Ken wasn't afraid of work. Cool that you own it.

    Sure, I see guys still running cab overs around my area very often.. You'd have to have a little mechanical know how... That might help in some way these trucks are'nt very new..

  • @3338MAN I drive a 1980 Frieghtliner COE. It's stretched to 213" WB. 400 Cummins and 15 O/D on LoPRo 24.5's and 3.90 rears. I driver her every day pulling B-Trains in Canada. 139,000lbs gross. She does a fine job! :) I'm sure 68 finds his rig more than practical enough for day-to-day duties as well. PLUS, you get a TON of looks. :D

  • That truck is a beauty. Do you still own it and drive it? People say COEs ride rough but if you put 3 leaf parabolic springs on the the front, that fixes up the front end and with KW's airbag on the rear it will ride like a car.

    Yes, I still own it. The truck is retired only driven for fun. The truck rides GREAT! I think if riding in a truck is to bumpy for some, those folfs should stick to cars.

  • cab overs are great easy to keep in the lane and easier to back a trailer and can turn on a dime great k wooper cheers from oz

  • nice video. gotta love them cabovers. when i started driving the company at the time had all coe's. an old frieghtshaker coe with spring suspension. 400 hp and 10 speed. pulling 75,000lbs gross wasn't easy.

  • yep,, love the cab over,, so nice to manuver and park , not having 8 feet of hood in front of you

  • Cabovers are a cats miaw, think about the length laws. You don´t need a 35 ft. conventional just to show off. A cabover can just about pull anything within the law.

  • I like a cabover,the only thing is if you have an accident....you are always the first one there.

  • I gotta question What is the deal with cabovers being so popular? isnt it a pain to have to jack the cab up? Im not talkin down on em i just never thought they were that attractive and hell maybe its cuz im only 25 idk. Just wondering thats all. no matter what you drivng though KEEP ON TRUCKING

  • I think its because they were the norm back in the day due to lenght laws imposed by the states. Now they are few and far between. Jacking up the cab is NO bother at all. They are a blast to drive around and they usaully catch the eye and intersest of people who really LOVE the old days of the industry. COE's are cool and there were tousands of them on the roads when I was a kid. I guess its a thing not everyone understands? THANKS.

  • When I was a kid my father was a trucker. He drove a 77k100. I asked him the same question when I was mabye 5 years old, He told me driving a trailer in NYC you need to turn and have a low radius turn. Sitting on top of the front axle has its purposes but, rides like hell/engine heat and such/ bumps. I like them now looking back to my childhood . Classics-

  • @EastEnd1985 i can only speak for australia here but we still have loads of them. the b double market over here alone would be id say 75%+ cabovers. keeps inside the required length and also they are much more maneuverable than a bonneted truck.

  • nice old c/o i had 74 and i miss it. they can say what they want . the only bad part was jacking the cab
