  • bet you got ribs cookin on that grill alog with those tasty chops....great playing

  • what's the trick to get that swell !!!! amazing!!!!!!!

  • 10 seconds in and I was getting goose bumps! most exellent!!

  • great playing man , love this

  • Nicely played. V soulful. Bet those sausages were well done!

  • Nice sound. I play a 1932 squareneck dobro. Stop by and give a listen. Nice job,

    Buz

  • needs no acompaniement or vocals. perfect just the way it is...paints a picture of a poor southern family in the 30's and 40's just trying to get throught life. perfect man

  • Awesome

  • So beautiful. Thank you so much for posting this.

  • Great playing ;)

I once tried a guitar simular to that one and i cannot remember what it was called,it was about 10 years ago lol

But i just couldnt get to grips with it and you have made me realise it's because of the style.

Funny though because i have got more into writting songs with different tunings.

  • Hello fellow cone head!stumbled on your channel .Love the sound of your 1930s dobro .Ihave a steel bodied reso of unknown origin with strange sound ports.Stop by some time and take a look.

  • I like it man. Good job! I just recently recorded a cover of Daughters and they're were a few solos that were a lot like this dobro style.

  • Well done friend....and a fine axe it is!!

  • Don't suppose you could tab this for a 3 string cbg . Then I could shuffle off this mortal coil in peace bro. Cheers for this it's damn fine.

  • i reckon if you tune it to DAD you should be able to work it out, the main part is around the 2nd and 4th fret on the first string and the other part is 7th fret 5th fret open on all the strings, i hope this makes sense

  • Haunting sound from a lovely instrument and well played sir!

  • hair raising on the back of your neck tackle, fantastic

  • 2:32 was amazing. Never heard someone make a dobro bark.

Best video I've seen and heard in awhile. I love the sound of that instrument.

  • Bootiful!

  • Dude, you're smoking... literally!!

    awsome!!

  • sounds like its crying because of all the bad things its seen in its 80 years. but thats because you play beautifully. at 0:47 i have no idea how you made that sound.

  • damn, i've been looking for this video. you're amazing

  • thanks for your support and best wishes..

  • Nice......smooth and interesting tuning!

  • YES, THATS THE TUNING I USE! such an incredible sound from it.

  • dobro...je

  • You're awesome.

  • Really nice man...would have been Even better if you through in a couple of blue notes but still loads better than I could do.

  • beautiful. just amazing

  • OMG i play with a rezz and this is sooo beautiful....very nicely done...im just wondering what tuning is this in...i play in open e and i would love to learn to play this...but idk if i have to mojo for it =)....let me know the tuning tho cause...damn

  • hi the tuning is dadadd ,best wishes amigo

  • Hi -nice channel -greetings from germany -winfried

  • thanks and best wishes, please support and download my album'lies and violence from amazon or .itunes,, good luck.

  • This is a beautiful song.

the biggest question I have is at 0:47, the dobro lets out a high-pitched whine a few seconds after you slide up to the fifth fret. How did you create that sound?

  • to answer your question, i used my mojo baby...

    best wishes...

  • AsianJames88, don't let it bug you. He obviously added the sound in with some kind of video editing program

  • ?? nice idea save me learning different techniques;-}

  • @JamesColeMusic - Yeah... that would be some things called resonance, and harmonics. I can't do it worth a darn yet, but my grandfather-in-law who makes Hilton Dobro can do it all day long. He plays dobro chimes flawlessly like nobody else too which drives me mad. I really love this application and style of it. Great work man.

  • That sound was incredible!

  • And also where did you get the dobro from? Out of curiosity because i been playing slide for a bit and wanted to get a dobro great thanks

  • cheers for the support, you wanna check out ebay if your looking for a resonator, if you can run to it get a vintage dobro or national but there are lots of good ,less expensive reso's, try republic guitars, they get great reviews..

best wishes and good luck amigo.....

  • You are without doubt up there with Elmore James, Duanne Allman and all the rest of them your fantastic man keep it up anyone would think your in the delta or somthing great!

  • I want a dobro sooo bad!simply the most beautifull sound Ive ever heard an instrument make.great job!

  • And I almost forgot, beautiful song and technique. Thanks for posting it.

  • Are you using fingerpicks? Or just your bare fingers?

  • fingers...

  • Thought so. Thanks!

  • While listening to this I could see myself sitting on the front porch of some plantation. Its 100 degrees outside, I'm sweating, and my fingers are raw from pickin cotton all day.

    It put me there man.

It's got a very serene, finality to it, like everything's going to be alright.

    Thank you :-)

  • I assume that smoke is just from some grilling or something that you're doing there, but it would be pretty badass if you were still playing even though everything was on fire around you.

  • Hey..... John Fahey has the same dog.....

  • That's not his house, that is just his grill producing smoke.

  • would you call this blues or country?

  • well ,,ive got the blues ,but i live in the country,, so i dunno??;-]

  • lol...how do you get the effect at about 00:48, where it sounds like a strings chorus?

  • i can get the guitar to sort of feedback harmonically with the friction from my slide on certain frets..

  • Wow that sent chills down my spine.

I'm buying my first Dobro at the end of the month when I get payed.
