any idea of horsepower? im looking to swapping a 5.0 into my 74 F100, from the 360, and was looking to moderately build it, e303 cam and maybe some heads, carburated ofcourse.
@B1Springfield why not keep the cubes up? like a 347.. i dont know if this is the right set up for your application or not.. hp might not be your #1 concern. what you might want is torque.. and the e303 cam is not famous for that..
if you decide to go this route, def ditch the e7 heads (stock) for ANYTHING that will flow better..
for advertises this combo to make about 340-350 hp ( they don't rate the torque as far as i know ) but they also got those numbers in house with no accessories..

@ROBBY639 the cam doesn't make the car any more or less reliable IMHO.. i drove this mustang as my daily driver for MANY years.. but since ive done all the work, i've had another vehicle of some kind.. but, could i drive this vehicle everyday? yes.
the parts installation etc are gonna vary.. but i would advise researching all of this stuff on a reputable forum to get more information..

@boss302nard I asked that 4 months ago and since then i've gone to Orange County Horsepower meets here in southern california and they say there's no way an E-303 cam with typical bolt ons (long tubes, o/r midpipes, intake, pulley) could beat the 05-10 gt even in its stock form. adding a 50 shot would likely even them.
These guys out here have been in these clubs for years and have the turbo lx's, ect.
my set up is 05' gt, k&n cai, upr o/r x pipe, gt500 mufflers, 91 oct. tune, 3.55 gears.

despite what you're friends over at orange county horsepower say, its possibly to get a nearly stock foxbody into the 12's.. which, if set up correctly im sure your 05 could do as well. By the way, this is definitely one of the best mods you can do to these cars.. I was driving down the road when my headlights and fog lights quit.. drove home with the parking lights on.. even the stock system can start a fire!
@aztlanxe3 google gt fog light fix.. youre gonna need some tech know how and some planning, but its definitely worth it. the reason i did mine is because i was driving down the road and my headlights turned off.. it was a bad relay. so it needs to be addressed on all gts... but while you're in there you might as well get the cool feature of having only your fog lights on..
@goobertime102 well, all gts came with a heavy body kit and a 5.0L (302ci) 8 cyl motor.. lx's came with no body kit and thus are much lighter.. they came in two varieties.. a hatchback which has a hatch like the gts and a notchback (coupe) which has a trunk.. the latter being the lightest of the bunch.. the lxs came in two motor combinations.. a 5.0l 8 cyl or a 2.3 4cyl
all this only applies to the 87-93 versions of course..
little known fact, 302ci is actually 4.9 liters.. ford rounded up..
@tsl8320 tough to say.. on a stock motor you really shouldn't see much.. perhaps 10-15 hp? The key is that a motor is really is a sum of all its parts.. of course this seems obvious, but if you had say the appropriate heads and intake, the amount you would gain ( with the cam ) would be substantially greater.. and to be honest, there are better cams out there.. If you really want do to it right, choose a set of heads, and an intake that will give you the biggest gain, then the cam..

@Njknittle this is actually the car being quite.. i dont have the off road h pipes on here, but a catted LEGAL version.. I chose the tail pipes for this car strictly for looks.. If i wanted the car to be louder, the best option would actually be to go w/o cats again.. but it resonates too much about 2k rpm, its almost unbearable..
@boss302nard I know what you mean, mine came with the cats cut out and holy shit, gives me a headache cruising on the freeway. I hate the loud rattle most Mustangs/Camaros have but loooove the deep deep rumbling, not loud but deeep.
@KrisCraig135 the e303 is a very streetable cam, but there are better choices out there. the trickflow stage 1 cam is a very streetable cam thats a lot better than the e303 and it works well with many head/intake combos. but i would strongly recomend picking heads and intake before a cam. for the best power, the cam should be matched with the other components in a h/c/i.
@brendanryan0510 I definitely agree with you here. There are certainly better cams out there for the money. As this was a crate motor it heads and cam is a pretty good match. I did go with a edelbrock performer rpm2 intake and am happy with it.. Not a lot of bottom end, but it makes good power above 3k.. I think this will suit me well once I finally get around to putting a blower or turbo on.
No I didn't.. Its a ford crate motor.. I have torn it apart though.. Unfortunately shortly after this video was taken a lower intake gasket began to leak and seep coolant in to the back to cylinders.. The doofus who put the motor in didn't know the proper torque sequence apparently. But, me and a buddy were able to fix it over a couple of cold brews..
got it done at meadow's paint in havelock, nc.. ive actually got some problems with the clear coat, but im gonna bring it back as they warranty their paint for a lifetime.
@JRPOLOBOY its a 2.5" cervini hood.. nice piece didnt fit well with my camber adjustment plates.. they notched the hood underneath.. you have to clearance them.. other than that.. all the aftermarket body pieces are cervini.. absolutely the best fit money can buy, def worth it!

Hey boss302nard, I have a black mustang gt , identical to yours, with the same hood, wing, and color, i have 17x9 cobra rs on it, i was thinking about putting weld rod lites on mine, 10's in the back , and skinnys on the front.. Which one should i do ? Leave the cobra rs or put the rod lites? Any suggestions ? Any one ?
@JameZCody I always liked the cobra Rs but I think they have gotten to be a little too common. The welds are beginning to grow on me though.. I think the rod lites are good lookning wheels.. Once I get the turbos and new block together im gonna go to a set of prostars.. same size as you.. If you want my opinion, i would go with the welds..
Going twin...that's pretty wild...and expensive. But the engine can suck whatever you throw at it. I was impressed on how that A9P computer chill's out whatever I threw at it! I mean for a factory computer and mass air system...never needed a 70mm to smoke another car. it just ran true hitting 145 with a 2.73 ratio rear...scary ...miss those carefree days...well..back to my family...the reason I had to give up my sweet 5.0
yah ive heard the block can handle up to 500 crank some say 500 wheel.. im looking to make about 450whp for right now on a safe tune.. then build my 4 bolt block and let things get really wild.. doin the twins not as bad if you design and build a system yourself, which is what im trying to do.. right now im still in the planning stages.. i have some turbos in mind etc but its still a ways off.. im hoping for summer of next year..

with this combo or any similar n/a combo w/302ci it's not feasible to make 450hp w/o a power adder of some sort.. the combo that i have with ford supposedly made 365hp at the crank, but i know im not close to that.. probably more around 320ish.. depending on driver, suspension, tires, gearing, weight, etc around 300whp could easily get you into the 12's.
if you want 450-500hp you're prolly gonna need either a 100-150 shot of NOS or a blower/turbo pushing about 8-10 lbs of boost.
if i were to do it all again, (which i am) i would use a set of afr 185s, crane custom grind cam ( with a better profile for a turbo ) and also up the ci's to at least a 347ci with a 4 bolt main and all arp studs.
i also forgot to mention, its not totally impossible to hit AROUND 450na but its gonna have to be pretty serious.. might be able to get there with a carb and some pretty trick heads and cam..
And I did pass inspection! the sequencial 302 5.0 is one of the cleanest engines ever emissionwise, IF you keep it up in good shape with good lubricants....believe him, it does pass inspection without cats...I did.
I miss my Ebony 5.0. 1.72 rollers with stock nicely ported heads(tried but could not fit the 303 cam with my rollers on), 110 p valve springs, four pintle mark7 19p injectors, polished inner plenum runners, MAC exhaust headers, mandrel bent off road H-pipe....nice metallic sound..., Flow master mufflers....shinny black... in and out. same Saleen spoiler......And the guy I sold it to has it in the back yard!!!! Under rain and sun!!
sounds like a nice setup.. i cant wait to start building another motor.. going all out with twin turbos.. gonna keep it 5 speed hopefully just so it's extra ridiculous.
with this setup the car passes smog in both v.a. and n.c.
I have all the legal stuff. ie catted h-pipes etc.. but its my estimate that even w/o cats the car would still pass.. dunno.. every combo's different and maybe i got lucky..
lol yeah.. i didnt wanna go to crazy with it.. since it was a crate motor it was already in there otherwise i would have chosen a custom grind with a wider lobe separation for turbos.. oh well lesson learned..
I've got gt40x aluminum heads on it right now. Currently it's good for 12.50's. I'm doing my research to build a twin turbo setup for this car right now. That should be interesting.
i havent had the time lately.. but she'll be getting a set of alumastars for the track and something outta the ford family in a 17 or 18 once i get done with the brake conversion.. should be pretty soon..

You should bend the tail pipes toward the ground. This will give you an echo effect making it louder

@Njknittle this is actually the car being quite.. i dont have the off road h pipes on here, but a catted LEGAL version.. I chose the tail pipes for this car strictly for looks.. If i wanted the car to be louder, the best option would actually be to go w/o cats again.. but it resonates too much about 2k rpm, its almost unbearable..

@boss302nard I know what you mean, mine came with the cats cut out and holy shit, gives me a headache cruising on the freeway. I hate the loud rattle most Mustangs/Camaros have but loooove the deep deep rumbling, not loud but deeep.

@KrisCraig135 the e303 is a very streetable cam, but there are better choices out there. the trickflow stage 1 cam is a very streetable cam thats a lot better than the e303 and it works well with many head/intake combos. but i would strongly recomend picking heads and intake before a cam. for the best power, the cam should be matched with the other components in a h/c/i.

@brendanryan0510 I definitely agree with you here. There are certainly better cams out there for the money. As this was a crate motor it heads and cam is a pretty good match. I did go with a edelbrock performer rpm2 intake and am happy with it.. Not a lot of bottom end, but it makes good power above 3k.. I think this will suit me well once I finally get around to putting a blower or turbo on.

No I didn't.. Its a ford crate motor.. I have torn it apart though.. Unfortunately shortly after this video was taken a lower intake gasket began to leak and seep coolant in to the back to cylinders.. The doofus who put the motor in didn't know the proper torque sequence apparently. But, me and a buddy were able to fix it over a couple of cold brews..

@JRPOLOBOY its a 2.5" cervini hood.. nice piece didnt fit well with my camber adjustment plates.. they notched the hood underneath.. you have to clearance them.. other than that.. all the aftermarket body pieces are cervini.. absolutely the best fit money can buy, def worth it!

Hey boss302nard, I have a black mustang gt , identical to yours, with the same hood, wing, and color, i have 17x9 cobra rs on it, i was thinking about putting weld rod lites on mine, 10's in the back , and skinnys on the front.. Which one should i do ? Leave the cobra rs or put the rod lites? Any suggestions ? Any one ?

@JameZCody I always liked the cobra Rs but I think they have gotten to be a little too common. The welds are beginning to grow on me though.. I think the rod lites are good lookning wheels.. Once I get the turbos and new block together im gonna go to a set of prostars.. same size as you.. If you want my opinion, i would go with the welds..

Going twin...that's pretty wild...and expensive. But the engine can suck whatever you throw at it. I was impressed on how that A9P computer chill's out whatever I threw at it! I mean for a factory computer and mass air system...never needed a 70mm to smoke another car. it just ran true hitting 145 with a 2.73 ratio rear...scary ...miss those carefree days...well..back to my family...the reason I had to give up my sweet 5.0

yah ive heard the block can handle up to 500 crank some say 500 wheel.. im looking to make about 450whp for right now on a safe tune.. then build my 4 bolt block and let things get really wild.. doin the twins not as bad if you design and build a system yourself, which is what im trying to do.. right now im still in the planning stages.. i have some turbos in mind etc but its still a ways off.. im hoping for summer of next year..

with this combo or any similar n/a combo w/302ci it's not feasible to make 450hp w/o a power adder of some sort.. the combo that i have with ford supposedly made 365hp at the crank, but i know im not close to that.. probably more around 320ish.. depending on driver, suspension, tires, gearing, weight, etc around 300whp could easily get you into the 12's.
if you want 450-500hp you're prolly gonna need either a 100-150 shot of NOS or a blower/turbo pushing about 8-10 lbs of boost.

if i were to do it all again, (which i am) i would use a set of afr 185s, crane custom grind cam ( with a better profile for a turbo ) and also up the ci's to at least a 347ci with a 4 bolt main and all arp studs.
i also forgot to mention, its not totally impossible to hit AROUND 450na but its gonna have to be pretty serious.. might be able to get there with a carb and some pretty trick heads and cam..

And I did pass inspection! the sequencial 302 5.0 is one of the cleanest engines ever emissionwise, IF you keep it up in good shape with good lubricants....believe him, it does pass inspection without cats...I did.

I miss my Ebony 5.0. 1.72 rollers with stock nicely ported heads(tried but could not fit the 303 cam with my rollers on), 110 p valve springs, four pintle mark7 19p injectors, polished inner plenum runners, MAC exhaust headers, mandrel bent off road H-pipe....nice metallic sound..., Flow master mufflers....shinny black... in and out. same Saleen spoiler......And the guy I sold it to has it in the back yard!!!! Under rain and sun!!

with this setup the car passes smog in both v.a. and n.c.
I have all the legal stuff. ie catted h-pipes etc.. but its my estimate that even w/o cats the car would still pass.. dunno.. every combo's different and maybe i got lucky..

I've got gt40x aluminum heads on it right now. Currently it's good for 12.50's. I'm doing my research to build a twin turbo setup for this car right now. That should be interesting.
