  • For DRAGMIO: Muybridge was a charlatan. He supposedly killed someone in Britain before he came to America, where he became the photographer we know. He was smart but cunning, and took alot of money from the rich for whom he made his photos. I forget the rest, but you can look it up. 'Muybridge' isn't even his real name. It is Muggeridge. Edward Muggeridge. But Eadward Muybridge sounded to him to be more Anglo-Saxon or exotic or something.

  • this song was made by bono for his mom

    pretty cool huh?

  • one of my favorite U2 records.

  • Me2.

  • love it

    fabuloso

  • meth in we ho land. sic

  • I miss Macphisto

  • AAh i love falsetto

  • I miss these days of experimentation. It was precisely Achtung Baby´s and Zooropa´s experimental sounds that made me U2 fan in the first place. Now...well, they just sound so orthodox and burned out.

  • You're right about Achtung baby and Zooropa being the best of U2 but surely Passengers is the pinacle of their experimental phase with the help of Brian Eno of coarse,

  • simply amazing. the video is just so basic and simple which makes it amazing.

  • progressive insurance? wtf. youtube is officially dead.

  • i see a lot of thom yorke influence or somethin here

  • what do you mean i think its the other way around thom yorke is an amazing singer but i think he is heavily influenced by bono i know he never said it but thats just what i think and bono sings this song in head voice thom often uses falsetto, head voice is a much thicker sound. u2 and radiohead for life

  • Yeah i know thats true cuz u2 was way before radiohead, i was just kidding

  • yeah i agree about zooropa, there are some good tunes on there.

  • a man builds a city

    with banks and cathedrals

a man melts the sand so he can see the world outside

midnight is where the day beggins

.....nobody beats U2's lyrics, and nobody will.

  • 'Midnight is where the day begins'

  • Zooropa: U2's Best Album (Seriously)

  • top 3 for me. no doubt.

  • Comment removed

  • geniale!

  • old U2 = masterpiece

  • Meu ovo esquerdo e como um limao tambem.

  • MOYA BRENNAN IS MY MUM

  • estaba yo en los valencianos comprando una granizada y me dijeron...

    de que la quieres?

    y yo dije de repente

    LEMON!!!

  • isnt it crazy how u2 are really satanic. mephisto, the fly. the front had me goin. i still love them and like larry mullin a lot.

  • u2 at their best peak and climax of their creativity

  • Exactly !!! I´m total agree with you! I love that album "Zooropa" and the creativity of those times! I love U2 anyway...

  • unici!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the best album ever!

  • Lemon barley. Naughty Mr Mcphisto.

  • great song, but can you possibly watch Bono singing so close to the camera and doing his rockstar faces and not hate him??

  • That's part of the character, he's called Macphisto. He is suppose to be obnoxious. Obviously its working.

  • . . . I will find that sweet Lemon . . .

  • life it's a lemon

  • hahahaha the video is so funny

  • The gridded off framework of this video suggests the 19th century action photography of Eadward Muybridge, a photographer who is known for being one of the first photographers to use photography as science. He recorded the body movements of animals and people. He was also a legendary charlatan. So, by quoting this artist, U2 are in a postmodern way, using art history to their own purpose. I love the Zooropa album. It is very beautiful. Some people consider it their worst. I think it their best.

  • Muybridge was a charlatan? In what way? do you know any stories?

  • This video is a piece of art, starting on the tribute payed to many artists and forms of art, like the zoopraxiscope.

Plus, what else could be more perfect than Mr. Macphisto?

  • this is not the first time i've seen this comment you like to make. are you simply imforming us or is there something else going on here?

  • Taste of childhood =)

  • bono makes a good joker

  • THE EDGE IS THE BEST!!!

  • This video's not only weird. It's actually sad...Just look at 3:30 through 3:50....

  • Sad in what way?

  • Because he smiles in the same way you do when you pretend to be happy...but your inside is actually in ruins. That's how I see it.

  • Very well said. The song is overtly upbeat. But the deeper meaning of the lyrics speaks otherwise.

  • wow! I remeber this song when i was little!

  • Miss the good old U2 songs...can't believe this has so few views for such a hyped up bans...so amazingly unexplainable....

    "Midnight...is where the day begins...."

  • Igual a Claroscuro de Soda Stereo en Dynamo

  • Can't believe Bono was 34 in this video. Hotness.

  • ami me preguntaron en el bar si queria tequila ,y yo les dije que me gustaba con sal y LEEMOOONNN!!

  • ftkronus: ME HICISTE REIR JAJA

  • LEMOOOOOOOON, yo fui a la heladeria los valencianos y me pregunto de que kieres el granizado y le dije, de LEMOOOOOOON

  • zooropa has got some right fukin gems on it

  • quality username - super is the word !

  • Hear hear! Lemon and Dirty Day have to be revived and played again amongst a massive list of many others!

  • Lemon and Dirty Day are my favorite from Zooropa. Both have emotional depth that a populist U2 fan can't relate to. Same with the underrated Mofo, methinks.

  • I agree - Babyface - The Wanderer - Zooropa - Lemon - are all seminal tracks:)

Listen to the "Lemon - Perfecto Mix" its brilliant

  • i sing sang this all the time b4 i got old ;)

  • theres no such thing as old!

  • You couldn't ask for better acting by Bono. He was just a badass as Macphisto and the many characters he became during the Zootv era.

  • the 90's u2 were underrated (with the exception of Achtung baby which got the praise it deserved)....I think what makes people think of u2 as OVERRATED is the 2000 u2, where they would release mediocre albums and get praise for no reason. Basically when they deserved praise they didn't get it (ex. Achtung baby losing album of the year), but sometimes they get praise for things they don't deserve (the multiple grammy awards that ATYCLB and HTDAAB got).

  • Hi Vash1286, you don't sound like a true U2 fan .....indeed.....but what band do you know , that continually produces fantastic albums one after the other throughout their career or artistic life?.....none, it's always going to be hit and miss, but thankfully, U2 fans don't have to worry about this , they have given us over 30 years of great music - lyrics - images - melodies, irrespective of the awards that do or don't come their way. Oh, and by the way I'm Irish ;-)

  • Well we are entitled to our opinions but one thing that i'm sure we both can agree with is that even their worst music is WAY BETTER than most artists' BEST nowadays.

  • I'm also Irish but what does that have to do with what you're saying. Please define what a "True U2 Fan' means. Is that one that has no license to judge their efforts? That sounds appalling: an army of mindless drones worshiping every single thing they do without question. Do you think they would actually want that??

  • Hello crazyhead74. Thanks for sharing your opinion with us. While you may think that your input into this conversation between Vash1286 and myself, is meaningful and has a point, please be assured that your opinions are meaningless and have no point whatsoever.Your comments are at best archaic, flaky, irrelevant and stuporous. Let's all sit back and enjoy some 'Lemon'.

  • War, Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby, ...all great albums. i dont know how you can say How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb was mediocre..it was great!...,and their most recent - No Line On the Horizon...have you listened to it? i put it right behind achtung baby

  • So agree. All great albums. Zooropa rocks. But I also really rooved HTDAAB and I also love No Line on the Horizon. Guess I'm just a major Fan!! I've seen them 3 times live in NZ. All 3 best concerts ever.

  • and bit sour they should do a song called lime dime time...

  • Comment removed

  • A lemon is ripe and pure, just as U2 is ripe and pure

  • this video was innovational

its done with Zoopraxiscope effect-ironically the camera relates to the albums name-Zoopora

also it is referenced in the lyric:a man takes a picture, a moving picture

  • as i listen to this why do i feel like i should be high?

  • Como Puedo Descargar Este Video...U2 Es Leyenda..Yeah.....

  • loll this is a joke

  • One of the best things about U2 is that they can absorb all kinds of music and produce their own superior, impassioned sound.

  • I've seen a bunch of the conversations going on and felt compelled to throw in my 2 cents. First, POP is an awsome album, second Zooropa is an amazing album, finally, I agree with whomever said ATYCLB is their weakest album.

  • agreed-i think at Joshua Tree is probably their best. ATYCLB did have a few good songs like elevation

  • This song is so AMAZING!!! I like it almost as much as With or Without You. The video is awesome too.

  • so .... acid.... corrosive..., but

    beautifull &diferent

  • "Stay" was another great song from this CD.

  • Muchachada nui LEMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

  • god, dint realise how brill this song is ... good job u2 ... i LOVE it!!!!

  • all thier albums are different, and i like em all for what they are... Long Live U2!!

  • freakin' fantastic song!!!

  • holy shit bonos scary there haha.

    love u2, unbelievable band

  • fucking fantastic vid

  • these men are my favorite artists...

  • muito bom!

  • This is a GREAT CLUB song!!!!!!!!

  • Can't mistake the Eno in this one.

  • Fantastic music forever and any time..

  • It seems to me that scaring people is half the point.

The other half is making them laugh... the video is pretty rediculous.

  • bono seriously scares me in this video.

  • Hi,it's a great song and ,the subtitles read like an A.I. vision program trying to describe what it "sees"!

  • Bizarre clip, but fantastic song! Love it!

  • THE BEST VIDEO EVER MADE !!!

  • this is not from pop from zoopr

  • This has always been one of my fav's ;)

  • Amo a U2..simplemente es lo máximo..la banda más creativa,más humanista y más exitosa de los últimos años!!!

  • me encanta esta cancion! xD

  • oh. i did not know that. sorry.

  • Macphistooooooooooooooooooooo

  • I love playing Bono the Kasperl.

  • This is awesome... one of their best.

  • i never knew u could make such a cool song about a lemon.

  • This song is about her passed mother on a video wearing a Lemon colored dress... IT's a beautiful song.

  • WOW... AMAZING!!! LOVE BONO!!!!

  • "man stumbling in the darkness" @ 1:15

    how suitable...

  • Comment removed

  • Love this song and the entire Zooropa album. I've always thought it was one of their best, most unique albums.

  • Such a shame U2 doesn't play these songs anymore on theyr shows. Almost looks like they feel ashamed of the zooropa/pop songs.

While those albums got some of the best U2 songs ever.

  • I thought the same like they would feel ashamed those songs. But for me the problem that they stay in one place...most of their last records are the same since they made "Beautiful Day".

  • Zooropa and Achtung are good albums but they've had better albums either side of them.. e.i all of their early albums War e.c.t > Joshua Tree > Rattle and Hum and then All that you cant leave behind > How to dismantle an atomic bomb.

  • Zooropa and Achtung are GREAT albums

  • Sorry.. Never meant to say Achtung.. I meant POP... Dont know how I could ever say an album with 7/8 brilliant songs on it was mediocre..

  • well again...

    Zooropa, Achtung Baby and POP

    are GREAT ALBUMS

  • You cant be serious...

  • Discothque,Staring at the Sun,Please,If god will send his angels,Mofo,Do you feel loved, Last night on earth...GONE! etc..

what is there NOT to be serious about. Those are fantastic songs and I do prefer POP over All that you cant leave behind.

Its alright, POP gets the shaft from many people including you.. but thats ok.. It just makes it more special to the people who appreciate it.. like me.

  • POP is a complex album. NOt everybody would like it... I LOVE IT....

  • ...and me

I think All that you can't... is their worst album.

There's only 3 or 4 brilliant songs on it...!

As opposed to all of them...!

  • I'd have to disagree. I may be a bit biased because I was in my teenage musical exploration phase at the time this came out, but the entire album really does become a cohesive whole if you concentrate on it.

It was pretty big at the time for them to put so many European EDM influences in an album while fusing it almost flawlessly with their own distinctive sound.

    IMO of course.

  • what's EDM?

cohesive whole is one thing, transcendent magic is something else.

the former, as you say, requires concentration. The latter should come to you either instantly or after repeated listening until you're in the right place and the right time and it "clicks" into place, it suddenly all makes sense and yet you haven't got your head around it, it has it's self "around" YOUR head. Mysterious and wonderful.

    That's what I'm used to with U2.

And I only get it with a few songs on ATYCLB.

  • Spot on.

  • Pop wasnt that good at all. About 4 good/alright songs on it. Zooropa and Achtung Baby on the other hand, great albums.

  • as I mentioned.... POP IS A GREAT ALBUM.

More than 4 songs that are great/fantastic.

  • ok, keep your opinion. but can i ask why?

  • velvet dress -great sound

    discotheque- just great all round

miami- great guitar sound, rhythm and lyrics

gone- great NEW sound, forward -pushing, grower

mofo- grower, actually ahead of it's time, not just ripping off the dance scene at the time

do you feel loved- same as for mofo

    playboy mansion-great lyrics

last night on earth- nice rolling stones-esque bassline groove and rhythm at the start, great oasis-like chorus as it just switches gears. Also good live.

so that's 8 really good songs.

  • Velvet dress, miami, do you feel loved - not so good

playboy mansion - one of u2's worst songs which they even admit

discotheque, gone, staring at the sun, last night on earth - great songs. imo, the only 4 good songs on the album.

mofo, please and wake up dead man are not that good. if god will send his angels is crap.

to notice that im comparing to achtung baby here. its u2's worst album but still an alright album all round.

  • KieranF1Kimi wrote "if god will send his angels is crap" ............. ....

    simply an insane comment.

  • Im not getting into an argument but its MY opinion.

  • I actually agree with your "not that good" songs.

    (apart from mofo)

If you listen to your "not so good" songs TRUST ME, in the right headspace, good soundsystem, listen again, they are brilliant.

That will bring you up to 7 good songs, I'll allow you playboy mansion on the grounds that the melody isn't much, but the lyrics are very smart and work as a nice interlude on the album.

Then we'd be more or less in agreement.

    howzabout THAT?

  • when i say "not that good", i dont hate them cos I actually think they are alright. Except playboy mansion.

  • Pop is probably the worst album these guys made. It's a good thing they returned to doing what they were good at.

I respect their experimenting with new sounds and all, and think that every band needs to do it, but they were beating a dead horse with Pop.

  • I have to disagree respectfully. Pop had a few good songs like Discotheque, Do You Feel Loved, Mofo, Miami, etc.

  • No they're not ashamed, Its that this song and other Zooropa songs was specifically designed to be only sung for the Zootv tours. Bono only can sing this song live through Macphisto. Once that character was put to rest, I believe this song went with it.

  • I agree with what you said.

  • it's because they are into politics today

    can't play zooropa no more

  • U2 Lemon....Love it..

  • Bono is from Ireland :)

    MacPhisto is UNIVERSAL :)

  • Notice at 1:03 when he sings "slowly slowly slipping under" and the few seconds that follow... a clear (and fantastic) hommage to Bowie! Actually the whole song is very Bowiesque.

  • I adore his McPhisto side.

  • hmmm ... Mephisto from Ireland...?

  • Best video, song, and band ever. Have to love U2 and their crazy antics especially when it comes to Zooropa.

  • Psycho Bono:) Fenomenalnie:) AVE!

  • Comment removed

  • i love this song...i love u2 !

  • i love this song!

  • GRANDÌSSIMO U2!!!Per sempre!Não tem outro!:)

  • grande...........................

  • zajebisty kawalek

  • As much as people say U2 went astray with the mid-nineties albums, this is the same exact sound that Keane is now experimenting with 16 years later.

  • amo el concepto de este video, me parece super arrechisimo!!! larga vida a U2

  • Skvělá písnička, stejně jako celý album Zooropa.

  • This era Bono whould have made a great "Joker". hehe. wahtch the video again and imagine him in the face make-up.

  • this was the era where u2 discovered acid

  • great great song, but bono looks kinda creepy in this

  • me recuerda tanto la secundaria... amo esta rola, es de mis favoritas.

  • Looks like ?!?!?

  • de verdad que buen musico resulto ser brian eno u2 era un grupo con tradicionales instrumentos de rock y el logro meter sintetizadores con lo cual logro hacerlos una de las mejores bandas de rock de la historia.

  • Bono looks like a creepy molester in this video!

  • Bono is more like a badass mofo in this video!

  • lol. agreed.

    great tune though :D

  • this video scares me, lol.

I love u2 but I wasnt a fan of zooropa

  • That scares me too...Bono is ugly in this video... O.o

  • fantastico...

  • this vid scars the shit out of me

  • Only good song on that CD....what a bomb that was!!!!!

  • Stay is not a good song ?

  • This song and this album was underrated in my book, I am a huge U2 fan but what is overrated is their newest album.

  • totally agreed. this song and album seems to just get looked over all the time. but its awesome

  • Newest album overrated? It barely even being noticed compared to ATYCLB an HTDATB. I believe HTDATB is vastly overrated and weakest album in the past 20 years, but it friggin won a grammy for best album go figure. No line is probably their best album since Zooropa. And Zooropa is absolultely brilliant but it was unfinished although it was way ahead of its time, way before Radiohead was known for their experimentation.
