For DRAGMIO: Muybridge was a charlatan. He supposedly killed someone in Britain before he came to America, where he became the photographer we know. He was smart but cunning, and took alot of money from the rich for whom he made his photos. I forget the rest, but you can look it up. 'Muybridge' isn't even his real name. It is Muggeridge. Edward Muggeridge. But Eadward Muybridge sounded to him to be more Anglo-Saxon or exotic or something.
I miss these days of experimentation. It was precisely Achtung Baby´s and Zooropa´s experimental sounds that made me U2 fan in the first place. Now...well, they just sound so orthodox and burned out.
You're right about Achtung baby and Zooropa being the best of U2 but surely Passengers is the pinacle of their experimental phase with the help of Brian Eno of coarse,
what do you mean i think its the other way around thom yorke is an amazing singer but i think he is heavily influenced by bono i know he never said it but thats just what i think and bono sings this song in head voice thom often uses falsetto, head voice is a much thicker sound. u2 and radiohead for life
The gridded off framework of this video suggests the 19th century action photography of Eadward Muybridge, a photographer who is known for being one of the first photographers to use photography as science. He recorded the body movements of animals and people. He was also a legendary charlatan. So, by quoting this artist, U2 are in a postmodern way, using art history to their own purpose. I love the Zooropa album. It is very beautiful. Some people consider it their worst. I think it their best.
Lemon and Dirty Day are my favorite from Zooropa. Both have emotional depth that a populist U2 fan can't relate to. Same with the underrated Mofo, methinks.
the 90's u2 were underrated (with the exception of Achtung baby which got the praise it deserved)....I think what makes people think of u2 as OVERRATED is the 2000 u2, where they would release mediocre albums and get praise for no reason. Basically when they deserved praise they didn't get it (ex. Achtung baby losing album of the year), but sometimes they get praise for things they don't deserve (the multiple grammy awards that ATYCLB and HTDAAB got).
Hi Vash1286, you don't sound like a true U2 fan .....indeed.....but what band do you know , that continually produces fantastic albums one after the other throughout their career or artistic life?.....none, it's always going to be hit and miss, but thankfully, U2 fans don't have to worry about this , they have given us over 30 years of great music - lyrics - images - melodies, irrespective of the awards that do or don't come their way. Oh, and by the way I'm Irish ;-)
Well we are entitled to our opinions but one thing that i'm sure we both can agree with is that even their worst music is WAY BETTER than most artists' BEST nowadays.
I'm also Irish but what does that have to do with what you're saying. Please define what a "True U2 Fan' means. Is that one that has no license to judge their efforts? That sounds appalling: an army of mindless drones worshiping every single thing they do without question. Do you think they would actually want that??
Hello crazyhead74. Thanks for sharing your opinion with us. While you may think that your input into this conversation between Vash1286 and myself, is meaningful and has a point, please be assured that your opinions are meaningless and have no point whatsoever.Your comments are at best archaic, flaky, irrelevant and stuporous. War, Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby, ...all great albums. i dont know how you can say How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb was mediocre..it was great!...,and their most recent - No Line On the Horizon...have you listened to it? i put it right behind achtung baby
So agree. All great albums. Zooropa rocks. But I also really rooved HTDAAB and I also love No Line on the Horizon. Guess I'm just a major Fan!! I've seen them 3 times live in NZ. All 3 best concerts ever.
I've seen a bunch of the conversations going on and felt compelled to throw in my 2 cents. First, POP is an awsome album, second Zooropa is an amazing album, finally, I agree with whomever said ATYCLB is their weakest album.
I thought the same like they would feel ashamed those songs. But for me the problem that they stay in one place...most of their last records are the same since they made "Beautiful Day".
Zooropa and Achtung are good albums but they've had better albums either side of them.. e.i all of their early albums War e.c.t > Joshua Tree > Rattle and Hum and then All that you cant leave behind > How to dismantle an atomic bomb.
Discothque,Staring at the Sun,Please,If god will send his angels,Mofo,Do you feel loved, Last night on earth...GONE! etc..

playboy mansion-great lyrics
last night on earth- nice rolling stones-esque bassline groove and rhythm at the start, great oasis-like chorus as it just switches gears. Also good live.

de verdad que buen musico resulto ser brian eno u2 era un grupo con tradicionales instrumentos de rock y el logro meter sintetizadores con lo cual logro hacerlos una de las mejores bandas de rock de la historia.
Newest album overrated? It barely even being noticed compared to ATYCLB an HTDATB. I believe HTDATB is vastly overrated and weakest album in the past 20 years, but it friggin won a grammy for best album go figure. No line is probably their best album since Zooropa. And Zooropa is absolultely brilliant but it was unfinished although it was way ahead of its time, way before Radiohead was known for their experimentation.
It is Muggeridge. de verdad que buen musico resulto ser brian eno u2 era un grupo con tradicionales instrumentos de rock y el logro meter sintetizadores con lo cual logro hacerlos una de las mejores bandas de rock de la historia.

This song and this album was underrated in my book, I am a huge U2 fan but what is overrated is their newest album.

totally agreed. this song and album seems to just get looked over all the time. but its awesome
